Sarah moved from current project, update no longer coming?

The fact that this thread exists at all means that she has totally over-stepped the mark.
Maybe so, however it's also a sign of very bad judgment from the management team. no matter how anyone try to yoga their way out of this it stands back as the RC.

BTW im also a shareholder, however I never mix business and emotions so my shares remain.

Correct. I'd even suggest it might be time for the mods to shut down as I can only see it descending further into madness and generally being no good for the forum or community.

Yeah, let's shut down the discussion about a formerly openly communicating dev being shut down. That will go so well.

You do talk nonsense.... I've developed in many areas and I've lost count of the number of times I've been pushed into taking on a new set of code at the last minute prior to a go-live etc... If the code's structure is in common with previous code worked on then it's an easy transition... I've had to work on unfamiliar and undocumented code as well and came out smelling of roses... if you can't do that and be flexible and able to flit from different projects with ease then you really shouldn't be a developer or, at least, a developer worth having...

Perhaps you should tell my employer and clients that then. WE're a big believer in project persistency where I work. :p Given a lot of my work is client facing, and we regularly interact with our clients (I'm a combo project manager/technical engineer/test lead for what it's worth) our clients tend to get understandably nervous if and when one of us is moved to another project at the last minute.

Different strokes for different folks I suspect.

say what? one of the kickstarter pledges was to be a member of the DDF

£300 reward

387 backers Limited (113 left of 500)

Be a design decision forum member, plus all rewards above.

should have been called Design Consideration Forum DCF
or SCIWNGTIF forum (Submit Cool Ideas We´re Never Going To Implement Forum)

You're confusing customers and clients.

While clients can be customers, not all customers are clients.

As lead developer and Scrum master I interact with clients all day, and they are customers of our company. You're right, if tomorrow my employer told the client I was moving on to another project they'd have a fit - especially because of how low my bus factor is.

As a customer of Frontier Developments, I am not a client and I don't expect to be privy to the day to day operations nor what they decide to do with their internal staffing arrangements. Quite frankly, as it is I suspect very few of the developers are in a bus factor position at Frontier. Most will be considered as movable resource to where it's most needed, unless they have a specific specialisation (such as graphics/shader programming or audio engineering and programming).

I understand she's done with the AI upgrades but those are not all in game now and will be added in 1.4 or a next patch.
Meanwhile she's moving on other parts of the game. As for the enemy ships, they'll get a lot tougher once her work is released.
All good if you ask me.

You understand wrong ;)

She tweeted yesterday about two months work been totally wasted and her new code wouldn't be coming in the next update. I forget the exact wording and can't link it as she deleted it afterwards.

The problem is not that someone has been moved to a different task, but when and how it happened. If it had happened after her AI update was complete, there would have been no issue at all.

By the sounds of it she was giving a sprint deadline, that deadline wasn't met. Now the priorities have changed, no one except Frontier know why, and they need to resource it. The AI in the game isn't broken, it needs improved and that can come later when there is more time to do it.

She's been moved on to another backlog. Either due to a speciality they need, or simply the number of points assigned need a certain resource pool to achieve.

I'm sure her branch is committed somewhere, and when they have time they can choose to merge in master and fix anything left to do.

Beyond that, there is no further use speculating - and no gnashing and wailing of teeth is going to change these facts. And the more it goes on, the more it exposes the lack of any maturity in this community.

If she had been given a sprint deadline it's odd that she seemed so surprised and upset to be moved. And the AI is broken according to a now redacted post made yesterday morning. All AI is behaving as harmless.

Probably the most reasonable explanation I've seen so far.
