OK from the results of a recent poll Powerplay is failing miserably (sorry to the dev that cooked it up) Over 80% of forum visitors (825 at the time of this post) do NOT participate in PP, at this moment or ever.

Are FD going to release another unexpected update/feature .. who knows ?

We do know that walking around is not the announcement at Gamescom 2015, but planetary landing (PL) hasn't been ruled out (unless I missed the memo) The problem I see here is that if they announce/release PL, is it only going to be rocky worlds to start with as David Braben mentioned a few times, if that is the case ... How can you possibly charge people for an expansion so that they can land on lifeless moons ?

I am really worried about this announcement.

The game needs something .. I think that walking around would bring something new to the table, but landing on a rocky moon... meh!

And what if it is another tacked on mini (grind) game .. how well would that go down ?

It has to be the announcement that missing core features are coming surely. Persistent NPC's or background sim/AI updates. Iron-man maybe or commanders log. Functioning heat/stealth, ability to place bounties.... Something.....

It's just typical forum behaviour, a group of people that seem that think they are the entire player base. In reality they are just a drop in the ocean.. Typical delusional vocal minority, you see it all over the web.

Lol. Saying that because only 20% of people engage in powerplay it's a failure is like saying because only 20% of people engage in trading it's a failure, or bounty hunting, or piracy, or deep exploration, etc...

Where did you get this idea that 100% of people play every other aspect of the game, and that power play is the exception to the rule?

Edit: Want to label a gameplay style a failure? Look at smuggling.

They/we do represent the most dedicated fans, in terms of wanting to talk about the game.

If Frontier truly wished to crush the forums, they could list all the stats (total player/active player, active players/Power Players).

Correction: crash the forums. It would be an uncontrolled PR departure.

*Edit* However, If someone put up a poll "Have you explored more than 100ly from Sol? (Y/N)" or "Do you indulge in mining? (Y/N)" then you may get similar splits, and both of those are, I'd imagine acknowledged as core parts of the game.

Well trouble is results from a poll on here is only a small percentage of players.
And yet when it's election time, predictions are made on similar small cross section polls.
So is it a true representation or not.???

The numbers in-game?

Some systems eclipse fortifications in the tens of thousands. That can only happen if there are a decent number of people (thousands) actively Powerplaying for each Power (or the big ones at least), let alone overall.

Who said I have a gripe with forum users? I happen to have a lot of respect for most of the regulars here. So, you can't handle the truth? Therefore I am troll.. hmmm ok..

Look, Dev's should always take onboard constructive criticism, but don't fool yourself into thinking that you speak for the majority.

Devs have all the real stats they need to see what is failing and succeeding in the game.
