If people put more effort into actually promoting and advertising their choice of rare, rather than all the belly aching.. they might actually get one of their "better" choices picked...

it does however show no respect to people who genuinely want the mug in game to continually moan about it being any less legitimate than ANY of the other rares... sensible or not. It has the weight of public support.

So I will ask you leave our mug alone, if you want to stop it.. BEAT IT..

And any argument about it's validity is too late its in the poll.. FD can decide utterly to not bother allowing a new rare if they feel these kind of 'engagements' with the community create more pain and hassle than its worth.

So come on, quick the rubbish talk and start campaigning for your rare of choice... win this with respect and effort than moaning and nit picking.

Well said and +1 from me. :)

I have no problem with the mug itself being in the shortlist or anyone voting for it. I would have liked a Discworld rare good in the shortlist, after all there were 6 suggestions and only 7 entries, so there was room for a Discworld suggestion.

The only issue I have with the mug is that Vingtetun choose Hutton Orbital for it, and I don't care it already has a rare good there.
No, the issue I have is that it's a 45 - 60 minute supercruise to get to Hutton Orbital, which itself is not a problem, if people want the mug, they'll make the trip.

But Frontier have said it'll be a community goal to make the rare good happen, and I take that to mean, if the community goal fails, then the rare good isn't going to be added.
This means that people have to make the long trip to Hutton Orbital to deliver the goods for the community goal. I don't see people making the trip in large enough numbers or make enough trips to make the community goal a success, and thus the community goal will fail.

If the community goal fails, then it'll be a waste of an opportunity to have a player suggested rare good added to the game.
I hope all of the 256 who've currently voted for it do nothing else 24/7 until this community goal succeeds.

If you do succeed in this, and the mug gets added, I promise that the next time I log in after that, I will make the trip to Hutton Orbital to get the mug.

I Totally understand that, because it is a sensible con of this particular option.. I will do my part and I hope you will soon be the owner of some Hutton mugs..

:D

Mike you are just be rude and I'll mannered now. Manners cost nothing and if you're a gent you'd apologise.

Mike youbare

An apology? OK then... I'm dreadfully sorry that you've misconstrued my intent in my post. I'm also sorry you didn't look at the previous post as well and Cosmos' reaction... he rightly took the post in the spirit it was given... My apologies for that...

Cool. Are we all good and if I was a sticky beak I'm sorry too.

I'd make sure your T9's can dock there ...

Why does it take like an hour to get to this floating tin can? What is it a Headwind keeping you from getting there sooner? And just make sure you are not in a large docking ship.. You will hear..

Docking Request DENIED...

I watched a entire episode of Ballers getting to this place..

Perhaps the originators of this idea might consider 3 consecutive CGs based around the top 3 voted projects. Give us diversity. Hutton is inside fed powerplay space, sothis is deep sapce and perhaps antoher third option whatever that mgiht be. The most supported one gets a grant of 8 at once in terms of allocation. Second gets 6 and third most supported CG gets 4 allocaiton. That way u create some variety and 3 new rares at different production amounts.

Oh and vote +1 for sothis gold for some very sensible reasons

One of your stipulations for this contest was "The system and starport where the Rare Good is located. This shouldn't be somewhere that already has a Rare Good."

ALPHA CENTAURIHUTTON ORBITALCentauri Mega Gin

As you can see a rare already exists at Hutton, so the leading poll entry should not have been short listed.

Well, it was shortlisted and it's a bit late to change it now.
I'll be honest here, I'm glad it was shortlist and that it's so popular. If it hadn't been shortlisted, the voting would probably have been closer between the entries, and that would only result in a secondary debate about whether the winning entry actually won, at least now there is no doubt, the mug wins.

Went to Sothis last night. 500LY of exploartion stops. Didnt do any close scans and noticed a few undiscovered on the way. Gave me about +8% to my path finder rating :) and turned the data in at 69 Carn... to help unlock a permit the Crom permit.

Vote Sothis. You know it's the superior rare and community goal.

Totally agree. It was called out on the first day and the rules have been broken by the event organisers. Bad show. If it wins, I feel sorry for all the other entrants because they played by the rules and wasted there time.

Agreed. But it is just like real life - the muggers don't respect any rules and they usually win.

A few more points, sirius corporation in sothis also if u get allied there grants the sirius permit. Explorers need something to reward them and to all the commanders that found the system, reported the data, then the haulers who supported the hauling goal to build the station and then the colony ships and construction crews and the fact the gold is so valuable makes sothis gold all the more attractive

Surely that would be the same for any contest? ;)

I understand the point of objection, but in my view the positivity of seeing the community unite behind different things outweighs anything else and the point made is coming across as sour grapes.

I could mention that many other items that are already in old stories would be worthy of recognition as would nods towards people who've made things for the game (Atack Jaytacs, Mymurth Hybernation pods, etc), but they aren't where the vote is. The mug has been part of the Elite community for a long time through Dockers. A little nod of respect to the effort people put in and the fun they get out of it is a lovely thing.

Let Frontier make the choice, smile when you win or lose and move on.
