I think they worded it wrong. What they mean is that PL will be available for DEAD planets. Planets without any form of life, just dirt and rocks.

Hardly.... given most MMORPG charge sub + expansion pack prices .... £30 a year for expansions is not the same league as 12x£10 + £25 that you'd pay for WoW or Eve
FD can't just create expansions for nothing, they pay for Amazon hosting, they have salaries ... the kickstarter income only covered about 15% of the dev costs.... supporting this game at the rate of evolution they're doing costs money.

Hell, its barely more than the price of a cup of high-street coffee per month.

Do FD regard Pluto as an airless world or not? After all, it has an thin atmosphere (through about half of its orbit).

Because you can't make an expansion called "Horizons" and not let us land on Pluto!

But on the community page https://community.elitedangerous.com/node/247 it says the Cobra MkIV will only be available to those who joined in the first year.

The Cobra Mk IV will be available in the game only to players who joined us in the first year – forever. It’s our ‘thank you’ for your faith in the game, and you’ll see more of the Cobra Mk IV in Friday’s Peek Of The Week.

Not really .. Way to go Frontier, hell of a way to treat your loyal customers, and in this case a shareholder.

I have no problems paying for the expansion, but as stated new players get ED AND the expansion for £40. We (existing players) get the expansion ONLY for £30. Something is very wrong with that!

I kinda thought that myself... but if so at least for your yearly sub fee you get a bunch of new content... and if they don't deliver you don't have to pay but can still play.

So... not subscription at all then, at least not in the traditional gaming sense. More like one of those magazines where you get to build a T-Rex.

Michael, can you specify - does this idea of "seasons" (good idea btw) means core gameplay won't be extended in 2016? I hope it's not true, because there are several fundamental pieces lacking (like wrecks or 2nd tier persistent NPCs), which doesn't cover expansion material.

If you can clarify, please do. I can ask it in QA of course too.

And ohh, thanks for delivering landings. I really doubted you could do that in a year post release. Happy to be proven wrong.

No - some development will apply to all versions of the game and so will be available to all owners. This will typically apply to features that apply to everyone in game. Other features and content will be for Elite Dangerous: Horizons owners only.

I know there's only so much you can show in a minute long trailer but they've carefully avoided showing the seamless transition from space to ground and it makes me wonder if they've even cracked that problem yet.

My simplistic interpretation is all those who buy before 16th December 2015 will receive the Cobra Mk IV.

Shouldn't it be called Elite: Horizons? Or Elite: Dangerous: Horizons? Will the passenger expansion be called Elite Dangerous Horizons: Passengers? Then walking around expansion will come out, called Elite Dangerous Horizons Passengers: Walking Around.
