Star Citizen's Gamescom Presentation has 30X More Viewers than ED on Twitch!

The Elite Dangerous Gamescom Stream has an average of 600 viewers. Yet Star Citizen live stream has 18,309 viewers!

What's causing this big disparity?

- Is Frontier's marketing department lackluster?
- Star Citizen isn't released yet, still gets 30X more viewers and attention.
- Elite Dangerous has much more to show, but it still can't beat Star Citizen's popularity.
- Frontier only had a teaser trailer of Horizons and sparse info during the Q&As. No big presentation with gameplay.
- Blizzard's unveiling of the World of Warcraft: Legion expansion was a 1 hour live presentation with lots of stuff to show.
- Could Elite Dangerous Horizons be the game-changer and put Elite Dangerous ahead of SC?
- Star Citizen has more fans than Elite Dangerous, despite Elite being the longest running space-sim series in history.
- Elite Dangerous also fails to get as much hype as No Man's Sky
- No Man's Sky trailers have much more viewers than any ED trailer.

How can Elite Dangerous ever catch up if it has a head-start due to the early launch?

Think hard about this Frontier and up your game. Your marketing department is slacking. ED's losing potential customers, fans and sales.

SC did have multiple Kickstarters, a heavy PR campaign, and the hype train loaded with explosive fuel. Simply... ED needs media ads outside of articles from game news sites.

Elite: Dangerous is way out front. We can actually play E: D. E: D will release it's first expansion before SC has a game to play, or even a hint of one. The disparity comes from the dismay at what is going on. All of the SC fans just want to know what is taking so much time, while Elite pilots are actually playing.

Its hard to take SC serious. Crap gameplay was the reason I quit. Its like sleeping with a hot chick that farts in bed while you try and do it.

can't speak for others but either I was asleep during the presentation and saw it afterwards OR I was busy in-game :D
i can't remember anymore

Probably already ninjas but I am guessing maths is not your strong point? ;)

Sorry was a typo, fixed. :p The disparity is much worse. Star Citizen gets 30x more viewers at Gamescom while not being released yet!

Yeah I have to agree with Mohrgan. It's more about the SC fans wanting to know because in reality none of them are even playing the game right now. At least in Elite, we can actually play. If the tables were turned, I'm sure the twitch results would reflect it.

All ED needs to do is succeed.
SC is surrounded by hype but I saw very little substance and came to ED.

Star citizen is going to most of what elite does in better graphics but in smaller scales and with less immersion factor...
the only thing I like about it is the way they treat ships like real ships in the marketing.

also remember they are the guys who spend a lot of money making tones of cheesy news vids that make the game looks like kids show.
dont get me wrong I hope the game is good but so far it looks no way near as elite will.

also Star citizen has tones of hype ; most of what is not based on fact like you will hear uninformed users saying
'''its the firs to ever do this''
''its the biggest sandbox ever''
''it wont have instances like elite''

In my opinion elite will do everything better apart from graphics but that the only thing SC does...
ok and the seamless interior and exterior of ships , but the small box sectors sounds terrible to me.

all in all it feels like elite is more a hardcore game than SC.

Arguably it has more viewers because its unreleased. It's currently a bit more of an unknown with people expecting news.
Elite is fully released, has been reviewed many times, has been sold many times and did its major announcement before the streams started. Also Frontier has historically been quite tight lipped on details.

It's like saying that Call of duty Ghosts has less viewers than whatever version is being released next. Seems kinda obvious to me even with Elite being a year old.

Well I never bothered watching the ED stream, and this is my favourite sim. On the flip side, if ED wasn't released I would be watching every stream hoping for tidbits of new info on release dates and progress.

What do you expect if the FD was in Gamescom announcing a expansion and not even showed a in-game footage about something that will be released in less than 5 months.

I always find the Elite event streams really cheesy and conspicuously slathered in expensive marketing. The hosts always feel disingenuous, and with the little giveaway competitions it all reminds me of children's gameshows on TV from the 90s. Not interested in SC though, so I can't compare them.
