It is easy to go a bit crazy after weeks in deep space... :)
The star is an Orange Giant that is part of a pair of giants close to the "southern" edge of the galaxy. It had a normal little yellow star orbiting it too, for a total of three stars and no planets in this system. :)

Yes, I pulled out in time... barely.

Thinking twice… the latter is going to be the name.

He was docile when unprovoked but would turn into an aggressive fighter when attacked, using his body to smash the boats of those who sought his blubber.

I maybe shouldn't have bothered with the mines and chaff launchers… Maybe ramming is the way to go ;)

Positioning near the blue flames. I was inside a jet stream to get the effect.
