Yes, that's been confirmed by FD.

[Edit] Just to clarify... It means the ship will be UNLOCKED for Premium Beta players so you can BUY it in-game, but you don't get it for free.

Depends, is it beta or premium beta? Premium beta already has lifetime pass, standard beta does not have it and. ou will need to buy either expansion or lifetime pass. Log into frontier store and look at your previous purchases to see for sure what you own.

If is not premium beta, can i just upgrade to premium beta?

That's the worst analogy ever. Halo is a shooter game and it doesn't pretend to be anything else, in fact it offers exactly what it says on the tin. As opposed to some other titles it's also pretty much finished when you buy it.

Analogy???
How did you deduce that is an analogy?
I'm not comparing Halo to anything.
Its just my opinion of the game.
It is a check box game.
Check all the required boxes and you are the Big Hero!
Again. Please its not an Analogy...just my OPINION.

It's not Premium Beta and No you can't upgrade to Premium Beta. That upgrade finished a long time ago.
Is ok,i wait 1 year then i buy lifetime pass or just buy horizon,i love elite dangerous how it work now and i'm really thanks all frontierdev and david braben for make it be possible today,i just wait then buy it not a problem i can play standard elite dangerous, thanks so much.

Sorry if this has already been covered (I can surely be forgiven for not reading all 168 pages of the topic). Has the duration of the beta been discussed yet? I'm thinking of pre-ordering Horizons but if the beta is only 4 weeks long I would rather hold off and save a little cash. Thanks

We know nothing of the beta timing currently but I can't see the beta tests for Horizons starting any earlier than mid/late November with the live release at or around the first anniversary on December 16th.

It's worth noting that you'll get beta tests for all major updates throughout a 12 month period for the extra £10/€12.50/$15 though. It's not just beta testing of Planetary Landings.

That is standard beta, not premium beta. It included beta and release access to the ORIGINAL GAME ONLY. Unfortunately the Premium Beta package is no longer available. You have three choice if you want to upgrade:

1: Pre-order Horizons for 30 pounds (including your 10 pound loyalty discount as an existing customer) which will give you release access to all of season 2 (Horizons), but no beta.
2: Pre-order Horizons Beta for 40 pounds (including discount) which will give you beta and release access to Horizons.
3: Pre-order the Lifetime Expansion Pass for 120 pounds (including discount) which will give you beta and release access to EVERY future expansion.

Or you could wait till it's released and pay 10 pounds more.

@Commander Captain Boris: English doesn't seem to be your or my native language, so I'm just going to jot this one down as an insurmountable language barrier. You do seem to attribute all the unsubstantiated whine of all the different users to me, but I won't take it personally.

You might want to check what "analogy" really means, but in this case you made a clear reference to the "galaxy wide, inch deep" complaint about the game and drew parallels to Halo. And yeah, I didn't have any doubts about it being your opinion.

English is not my native language you're right. But i think i was pretty clear in what i wrote, i can re formulate it in an other way if you want or did not understand. If you don't read my post because of false excuse as language barrier it's fine, but please respect the work of the devs and all the people involved in the construction of the game. Seems like you have no clue how to make a game.

Will be there capital ship wreckage to explore ? paintjob for SRV ? can we equip our ship with two SRV (combat/explo) ? will there be SRV model exclusive according to ranks in empire/federation (like dropship/courrier) ? What happen if your ship is coming back from stealth low orbit and other players/pirate shoot it while it's trying to land ? is it coming back by itself when you're near the landing zone or you need to "call" it wherever you are ?

my diamondback scout just asked me where it can get paintjob too :p

edit : will there be specific outfitting into the SRV you can change ? (sensors, thrusters, etc..). Do SRV have shield ?

can someone answer those, at least just one would be fine :) ?

I'm concerned they're unnecessarily alienating (potential) customers due to a lack of information and a pricing scheme which leaves many questions unanswered.
Don't worry. They don't need us to buy it right now. If you're not happy with what you know, just wait.
I'm sure they'll release more and more information until release.
I'm also sure they don't mind people buying it after release, or half a year later, when more parts of Horizons have seen the light.

I think they're just doing this bit by bit style of promotion to keep the excitement level high and be in the news more often.

Yeah, this is it. They have to release some information, if they're asking people to spend €50 or €150. Hence we probably have more, firm information at this point than we've ever had : 1.4 is CQC and 3 ships we know about. 1.5 includes 7+ new ships. Horizons is planetary landings on airless worlds and a new vehicle class, the SRV; with a loot/crafting update after that.

But they still are holding a lot back. They don't want to preannounce everything, and have everything be a bit 'stale' by the time it's released in 6 months or a year from now. Even with the Horizons reveal, there were people commenting/complaining we knew all about it beforehand, it was nothing new. FD really can't win. :)

Thats Exactly the approach im taking, im waiting till i see a drastic improvment in the core Ed game its self.

Sure flying around and popping Npc's is entertaining for a bit, but trading, mining, and exploration are just so rudimentary that im bored with the game after playing just 4 weeks.

When they get the issues all fixed up with the Core ED game ill start buying expansions...

what else can you get for 60$ to have fun for four weeks?

Horizons is a big piece. Less than four weeks of beta testing, would be surprising

Seriously..?

Still playing GTA 5 couple hrs every day going on 8 weeks at the moment..
Arena Commander a few times a week for half hour.
Just cause 2 Multiplayer on weekends too..

lol I've spent more time on these forums trying to find out whats up with the horizons expansion then Game Time with ED this past week.

Quite honestly Elite Dangerous the " Core Game " has a huge untapped potential as a space sim, But the Frontier Development team is skimming over important details of the game in order to compete with star citizen to create similar content, so the available content they have created thus far is left in a simplistic state.

My concern is, if there going to continue this trend while building the Horizon expansion just to get a product out and continue to show us absolutely amazing trailer footage to get me to buy it.

So yes im waiting to see actual in game footage before I spend 60.00 for a simplistic buggy game that will be similar in scope as the main game.

I already have the knowledge of the core game and believe it will be just an added piece of content the same as Exploration, Mining, Missions and trading - a mile long with no depth.

This is my only post to date but I do read the forums regularly.
I am neither winging, moaning or threatening leaving this game.
These are just my opinions only and not fact, sorry if I have repeated what many have said before.
It seems to Me that Frontier are struggling to add any depth to the base game which many players are complaining about.
I have long been a player of X3 and its add ons right up to re-birth where it had failed for me,
It was a great game with plenty of options available such as station building storyline missions many ships etc etc,the only problem lacking with X was its multiplayer or lack of it making the game very much a solo event.
When I heard Elite was coming back and that it would be a server based multiplayer game I thought "Awesome ".
But after playing for the first teething period and the gloss had worn off learning to fly into stations, I found it to be not what I expected.
Any actual human players wander round aimlessly with no intention to interact with other Human players due to lack of content other than just maybe a text chat !
They dont want to get involved in combat with other human players as they know how long it takes to earn a decent ship in the game !
This leaves you with only computer controlled ships to fight with, so in essence making it another solo game .
These are the other reasons.
1. I thought the multiplayer side of it would be much more involving such as joint missions that only you and a friend or maybe a group of friends could complete.
2. Missions involving Group or joint battles that would have an outcome on the system present (not powerplay sorry this was not what I expected).
3. Maybe protecting miners from approaching pirates and bounty Hunters.
4.In the old Elite it was really quite scary trying to traffic Narcotics to another station and you would rarely complete it.
Now the risk seems empty and lifeless with very little in the way of adenalin or worry existing !
5.I think other people have mentioned the fact that every system feels and looks the same bar the odd different shaped station and jumping from system to system feels like groundhog day !

This seems to be Frontiers way of holding people to the game.
1.Slow the money making down to make the game longer therefore holding players back before they realise they have an Anaconda and have nothing left to acheive ,it seems no matter where you trade there is a 1/2 million limit on a return run.
2. Making ranks take longer to acheive for much the same reason.
3. I used to pull up the bulletin board and a commodity I might be trading and have on board ,a faction would be offering more money for a portion of what I had ,now its always a different commodity ,again I think to slow the increase in profits.
3. It seems that whenever interest drops in the game and people start leaving for reasons only for complaints of base game improvements falling on deaf ears that Frontier drop out another anouncement of better things to come either at a cost or not.
Most of these updates and add ons have not been what people wanted but more what they consider enough to keep people on board.
I, like most people would like planet landings but I would also like a dedicated group of developers just to stick to improving the base game along side it.
In Frontiers defence I will say they have not asked Me for much of my hard earned readys to date but like other players have also said`I dont want to invest more until I see the general gameplay improve.
I am and will not be one of the moaners who childishly say "right I am uninstalling the game "
The game costs you no more while it is on your hard drive as its not a subscription based game, just leave it and come back to it when it suits, thats what I do.
Sorry for the Essay and for any spelling or punctuation errors.
Please Frontier read this and help make my tears of joy from the news that you were returning from 1984 (when I could not leave you alone for hours) a reality and not a dream.
Yours Commander Pugwash.

I agree with most all that you said, except for money and X-Rebirth.

1. Money, I make around a million an hr sometimes more... unless a millions not allot and i just think it is.
2. I played X games here and there , X-Rebirth, once you got use to the weirdness of it was entertaining. nothing more fun then to land on a capitol ship and have them taxi you around while you watch from the deck of the ship. except for refueling after 6 jumps that was annoying, but your right there was just a billion bugs.

Homeworld, that was an enjoyable game.

The rest of what you say is what many of us are thinking.. basically I think of this game as that knockout, beautiful wedding cake you saw at the store, but they delivered it Un-frosted with no artistic icing.

Oh ya while we are on the subject of things that Irk me, stop making those cool game trailers - there misleading - nothing like what you see in them takes place in the game. most notably this one..

People buy this game because of trailers like this, This looks Soooooooooooo amazingly awesome to me , I want to play that game, ILL pay 100's for a game like that.. the one I play isn't like the trailer not even close.
I watched that video over and over when it came out, it really does get your Adrenalin going. Crap not even Star Citizen will be this cool and that says allot. Its probably why they don't have a chase cam in game-most of what you see here cant be duplicated.

Yes I know it says Not In Game Footage.. lol after watching the Landings one, I sit and ponder if the buggy will be as fun as it looks.
