So.... I gave up on HR 1185 for a while and went for a road trip.

Good news is, there isn't anything unusual happening in the Orion Nebula, Running Man Nebula, Flame Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, Witch Head Nebula, or the NGC 1999 Nebula.

Will post screenshots/thread if anyone is interested

Thinking it, it's probably easier to find Raxxla than to solve the UA thing.

Hey, any ideas on Raxxla I would love to have, so please tell me? Also, if I find another UA I will record it's sounds and post them to YouTube

If the UA gives you the name of the system your in in mores code. Has anybody tried putting in different words to see what comes out. Put raxxala in or the name of another one of these alien system. And you might get the system name back with some thing that matches our charts.


For example I read on the wiki. that the system Ross 154 I think was the name. Lol. Came back as merlin. So if you were to put merlin in would Ross 154 come out?

Well, if you look at that system, there's a planet called "Merlin". I don't know the full story but that recording may have been done closer to the planet than the star. The UA, if I understand correctly, gives the name of the closest celestial object, not the name of the system.

Sorry I also forgot to say. since we know Ross 154 = merlin. We should be able to use that as the beginnings of a key to decipher any messages hidden in the audio right?

You hit the nail on the head. Totally fell asleep while sitting out here. Hopped up to hang out on the couch with the misses, and woke up 3 hours later to see your comms message haha.

With that said, still no luck on a UA for me in HR 1185. Found a good amount of strong signal sources compared to yesterday and the day before, but all have been the pirate spawns so far.

Didn't someone post a vid of Raxxla on YouTube a while back? He had done some file wizardry and found Raxxla but the video was taken down (I have no idea if any of this is true) but yes, I'm searching, but I will be spending some more time finding UAs. If anyone could pay me for them that would be great

Granted, it's not exactly in line with hints that the plot will move on eventually, whether or not players "figure it out". But, as we know all too well, a lot of ED's progressive goal stuff is built around simplistic delivery-count mechanisms.

That would make sense and is quite likely - yet makes me sad... People on these threads have been truly smashing their brains against the riddle posed by these things, and some notable stuff has come out of it (i.e. learning about the morse-encoded messages in there).

On the other hand, I also think that there's something else beyond mere "grinding" SSS's in Human or Deep space.

These probes (?) or beacons (?) have a non-random distribution. The systems UAs have been found seem to be clustered around the Kappa Fornacis region of space, carried by Federal Convoys. So they may well be coming from somwehere else rather than where they were found. Cmdr Runcible graph put in images something obvious regarding the distribution of the UAs. There's a MASSIVE outlier on that scatter plot which is HR 1185. Is that just noise? With one single data point, it is impossible to tell.

What I think it makes more sense - rather than chasing Federal convoys - is to be exploring from HR 1185 and away from Human space, trying to find UAs in other systems nearby. That should retrieve some more data to think on. I wouldn't be surprised that somebody eventually stumbles onto a Mothership or something orbiting some moon or planet in some God forsaken star system beyond the Pleiades...

Dude you seriously gotta watch that! LOL your DBE was pointed straight at the star I was about to interdict you to snap you out of it but then I realized I don't have one of those on my Asp so I took off for the black hole and check things out there. Only a few weak signal sources with a bunch of random canisters.

Maybe next time.

hahaha, I think being out in the darkness has plagued my brain with a false sense of security. I let Busey take the sticks while I took a nap, but never again!

So I managed to find my way to the black hole and am now idling 2ls away looking for SSS.

And no. I have not recovered.

I am quivering in fear right now.

UPDATE: I overcame my fear and am now staring death in the face from 24.6km away (body exclusion zone).

My current questions are:

Why do the UA's near the black hole in HR 1185B, and in HIP63835D lack the secondary Morse Signal?. It has the Honk, the locational Morse Code, the Purs, and the alien chirps, but it does not have the continuous signal found elsewhere.

The signal that is missing from the UA in HR1185B & HIP63835D is present in all other videos I have watched so far.

I don't see any notes regarding this in the wiki. I'm posing the question to see what's already been done in looking into this.

TL;DR - I just want to figure out why the 4th Sound is not there in some cases.
