Hi guys

I read an earlier post which suggested altering router settings and firewall settings, but neither has an effect. Has any actually worked out how to fix this problem? Someone also suggested trying ht alpha forum, but I still dont have access, though frontier are working on it. I might suck at dogfighting, but theres no need to exclude me completely!!! :p

Any help would be gratefully received.

Stephen

Ok, how is your connection setup? (computer -> router -> modem)?

Is your modem also a router?

What is the WAN address reported by your router? (you will have to access your router for that information)

Hi. I'm no network engineer but MY own (2 days worth) ended up with me looking up my modem and changing the settings (as I have arouter behind my modem) to PUBLIC IP and/or bridging the connection.
If your situation is similar I recommend looking into this. I've already helped at LEAST one other person by directing them thusly. I am hoping FD will also direct people to look at "routers behind modemd" or "routers behind modem/routers".
As a matter of fact, I was even able to get into multiplayer with the STOCK (upgraded) appconfig.xml file after making the changes I made.
Follow my posts for more. Good luch and thanks for all the fish!

Thats all sounds very helpful and a great place to start... You have posted the info in this forum?

I've posted more than once on this.
Look up your modem/router. Access it via browser if you can. Look up help for modem make/model and post if you need help! The mosre infor you give the better someone can help.
PS. See your PMs for more.

Slackr. do you have access to the Alpha forum? this kind of question is there, and some kind people have been able to help resolve the individual cases through voice comms, sharing screenshots and so on... might be worth a look there?

Unfortunately no.. Ive logged a request and contacted Ashley today, so hopefully someone can give me access

It's funny to me that this is the third thread I have come across where someone has been trying to get access to the Alpha forums at a weekend.

Tribute to you SlackR for not getting angry or despondent about this. This will be sorted for you shortly, probably Monday I expect. FD support seems to be very efficient from what I hear.

I have the same problem on different machines. Have no problem logging on to other online services. I get the message: Server79.125.11.123:19364 (unconnected)

Looks like I just don't have access rights.

Let's start with - what's your modem/router?

Thanks for offer but I have pretty much covered all bases with another very helpful soul and all to no avail... the IP address being given in my admin settings seems to be private and my own IP (google search) comes back as a different address... not sure this one is fixable :(
