Ships Federal Corvette

Can we please at least replace those two small hard points with medium ones?
I mean, I do understand that the ship design won't allow changes to large hard points any more. But those two small ones are just ... embarrassing! :(

Yes, but what I'm trying to say is that Core Dynamics made maneuverable ships before. I think Federal Corvette will also be a maneuverable ship, judging from these hardpoints. …

Imperial Eagle, Imperial Courier, Imperial Clipper… I fear the Imperial Cutter will follow that trend. My bet for the Imperial Cutter: 2 large, 2 medium, 2 huge hardpoints, better shields and faster and probably better turn rate and more room for SCBs.

I agree with you that the Corvette will need to be a very maneuverable ship with those two huge hardpoints and only one large hardpoint. Now if Core Dynamics could introduce huge railguns for the Corvette …

Seriously what the hell. Why is 2 small hard points even attached to this ship? removing the 2 large hard points was just pathetic. First the gunship is hardly worth using, same maneuverability as a type 7? really? Just like the drop ship. its crap. I don't care what you say. a python will annihilate these ships, period. oh wait, it already does. How is a MILITARY spec ship worse than a civilian spec ship? How is that even remotely possible? Did you guys just hate the federation or something and want to just arbitrarily nerf them out of the blue everytime the federation gets something remotely good? Never mind the cost and rank requirement. WHY would I want this over an anaconda.

Weren't the community supposed to be testing changes like this and the balance? Shouldn't the original load out have been at LEAST TRIED before just straight up making a combat ship USELESS in COMBAT! Give me a huge rail gun, beam laser or pulse laser and I might change my mind, but huge weapons as they are, are a complete joke. They are meant for sieging large structures more than a moving ship. Since we can't blow up stations, that's what I'd call a waste of space. I'm baffled at this. I just can't believe it. What a waste of a greatly detailed and very well done model.

So looking at current weapons, it's 2x Small Beam, 2xMed MC, 1x Large Plasma/Beam, 2x Huge Gimballed Cannon. Depends on placement and ship handling it might work although it will not outgun a 'conda.

You assume the 3 Large hardpoints was considered in the first place. From what I see the one typing the letter got a fade and put in Python's hardpoints and add 2 Huge hardpoints instead of the putting actual spec.

Unwarranted "outrage" IMO.

How much do you reckon the Panther will cost?

If it's going to have 2000 tons of cargo (like the Elite II version) .

I crunched some back of an envelope numbers.

The T7 carries a little under half of what the T9 carries (naked, pure cargo) for about 1/4 the price. The T9 theoretically carries about 1/4 of what the Panther would carry, so all other things being equal, I estimated about 8 times the price.

But honestly expect a "top of the line end-game + It prints money" premium on the backend of that-. If the panther carries 2000 tons I'd expect it to come in at 586 million - stock, minimum (this is purely 8x the price of the T9, no other premiums added).

I hope it carries 2k, but I don't expect it to, maybe 1000 with a long jump range (anaconda), or 1500 with "T9" type jump ranges. This is all guessing. If it does hit 2k, expect it to be T9 jump ranges fully loaded. If it ends up being 1k expect it to not only have "anaconda" range, but be tanky/good hull high shield possibility.

The other thing you need to look at is what exactly are "end game ships" - They are essentially "newgame plus" ships where money is no longer an object in the form of progression so earning potential isn't really a major factor.

And you're assuming the 3 large hard points wasn't considered. Sorry but my out rage is very warranted, when a civilian class ship can easily beat out a military spec ship of the same size, that is extremely alarming at best. The 2 huge cannons are crap that you're suggesting, huge weapons just.. suck I'm sorry to say this but I have yet to see a huge weapon that is really advantageous to have. There is no justification for having 2 small hard points on a ship that clearly is stated to have "massive stopping power" 2 small 2 medium is not even an asp in fire power. add one large, the python the anaconda, the federal assault ship, the imperial clipper, the FDL have superior fire power and MOST of those are smaller ships. What are those huge weapons gonna do to ships that can potentially out maneuver and OUT GUN IT! No I'm sorry but that's crap.

As one poster said on reddit "This ship went from amazing to garbage in an instant" GG.

Look closely at the bridge of the corvette. It so looks like it's own mini ship that could detach as an idependant vehicle or escape pod. Perhaps if the corvette is too large to dock then the bridge will detach and dock instead... It probably won't work this way but would be cool if it did. It totally tottaly looks like a small ship....

To be honest, it doesn't matter what hard points were or weren't considered... What really matters is that a MILITARY ship is out classed in COMBAT by multi-role ships.

There seems to be this weird hate for the Federation... They have ONE semi-decent ship at the moment... The Assault ship. The Eagle and Vulture aren't Federal, they do not count. The Gunship and Drop ship are crap , and saying "their roles aren't in game yet" is a poor excuse. If they are this bad in a weightless environment.. Throwing an atmosphere around them will make them even worse.

If the Corvette is an Anaconda-class ship then it should be, as a COMBAT ship, better than the Anaconda in combat. It should have better weaponry. If it's in the Python class, the same would be true. The two ships I mentioned are MULTI-ROLE. They should not out-right stomp a combat ship.

Finished model looks amazing. Hope that its going to be fast and have more shields that will be its short coming not the hard points. It might be the Conda sized FDL. Which imho is a good thing. People in the thread seem to just want an easy mode gimble ship. Ill take to well placed C4s tyvm.

We don't want easy mode anything. You do realize we can use S/M/L fixed weapons as well, right? Don't make baseless assumptions because we think that the current C4 weapons are garbage.

Beyond that, it's not even the point we were making.

We do not know what our C4 weapon selection will be when this thing is out & how the ship handles. If it somehow managed to handle anywhere close to pre-nerf Python I bet this thing will be the most OP ship in the game. We simply does not know enough to say whether this will be amazing or garbage.

It wouldn't make sense for a ship of that size to be maneuvering like a pre-nerf python which maneuvered like a vulture. At best I would expect this to be on par with an anaconda.

You're right about the c4 weapon selection, if we get new C4 rails or beams I would then concede on my "outrage" but as it stands now I'm not getting my hopes up.

Exactly, if they release huge thermal weapons it might be OK. As it stands, this ship is useless.

The Federal corvette.

So awesome, they had to smash it with the Nerf Bat™ not even a day after releasing the stats!

Z...

YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! That is a sexy sexy ship, I really liked the concept art and am so glad to see it so true to final product! The hardpoints are awesome, none of this class 1 business.

This, I hope for a big ship with a really high skill cap.

Do you really think this is a python class ship? 2 med, 3 large, 2 huge....sure, is they python gains a few pounds maybe...FD have a hard on for multirole ships, they are all multiroles, some of them just suck at all the roles but one.

There was a correction issued on the hard points; it's 2xhuge, 1xlarge, 2xmed & 2xsmall

Then they've done a good job hiding it, I can't see any dev posts in the newsletter thread, this thread or a change to the newsletter itself. Where was this correction issued?
