Horizons beta?

Any word on when the Horizons beta starts yet?

Not yet. FD support said to me that we will get beta date news relatively soon. My own pick is in three weeks we will know.

I think it will take a good few weeks to iron out the problems and as in original beta they will probably introduce different parts for us to test through the process.

My guess for the Beta is late November. They haven't released gameplay yet, just screenshots which you can tell are missing several key features (utilizing existing content as a placeholder). Once 1.4 is released next week, we'll get info on Ships for the next 4-6 weeks and then we'll start getting info on the beta. At least, that's my guess

That would be my guess too.

I understand CQC will go live in a couple of weeks, so hopefully Horizons will follow shortly after. It's a big addition to ED that will need extensive testing, so it needs to be out sooner rather than later if FD are wanting a Christmas 2015 release.

Yes you are correct, 1.5 and 2.0 (Horizons) are both being released together.

So non expansion ownsers will get 1.5 and expansion owners will get 1.5 and 2.0 on the same day.

I'm betting for a mid November beta and an early December release.

They said at EGX they haven't even finished with the atmosphere entry and landing mechanics yet, let alone the crafting, characters creation, missions, star ports and all the rest.

Like my name, id say soon(tm) is the best you can hope for from FD
