Palmer Luckey Explains Why the Oculus Rift Will Cost “More than $350”

I think a CV1+touch will be around 500USD. So maybe 399+99? Wich i think most people will be ok with.

Now the big question is where Vive will land? Its going to be an exciting month, as I think both systems will be revealed before its up.

Oculus have stated they would bundle the first headsets with XBOne gamepads. If they've entered into some sort of agreement with MicroSoft then they wouldn't be able to back out now, despite the success of the VIVE controllers.

My stab in the dark would be the CV1 headset bundled with the XBOne would be $450.00, and in the UK, seeing as the Pound is worth more than the Dollar, they'd sell them at £450.00

Unless the resolution improves, I will be going for a monitor update instead.
I love the 3D and immersion the Rift offers, but the graphics quality just doesn't quite cut it for me.

I will check back in another year for the next gen.

Most new technology is priced at a higher point for while until demand really picks up. The issues become a chicken and egg scenario, where content developers don't want to commit if there isn't enough of a market and customers don't want to buy a VR unit as there isn't enough content. The last couple of line of that article are a bit weak though

...with the Rift, it makes sense to do what nobody else is doing which is invest in making the best possible quality headset.

As I'm sure that no one else is interested in quality.. *shrugs*

I'll go for $399 and £349. :)

Silly lad, you know fine well that all you do is swap the $ for a £.

As long as its cheaper than the Sony HMZ product line I'll be happy. I'm sure they'll be as cheap as they can possible can be. I've had hours of enjoyment out of my DK1 / 2 devices and I'm sure the same will be true for the CV1 when I get my hands on it!

They're not quite that bad! I know people say that "swap $ for £" but I don't think it's happened often, not literally anyway. Look at the new Google Nexus 5x - $429, £379 - so they play with the numbers a little but we're still getting fleeced at $573 equivalent.

I think I'll be sitting back and waiting for a while and see how the market shapes up. As long as I can still use my DK2 with ED I'll be happy to wait...

Honest I will.....

Like many, I would guess $400 - $450.

But, as we will know by then how much the Vive will cost, all that matters to me is the price difference between the two. I WILL buy one of them. I need Elite in VR.

DK2 users, what is your honest opinion, is dk2 worth buying at this stage? Considering the facts that cv1 will be more expensive than dk2 and personally I cannot run cv1 in it's full glory with my current system, if I can at all. And I loved dk1, I have high tolerance on lowresolutions and screendooreffect. DK2 would be improvement for me nevertheless.

I don't like nor use Facebook, so it's the SteamVR for me.

This is NOT a selling point for me.^

The issue for me is the inclusion of the Xbox controller and headset/mic. I already have a Turtlebeach headset and use an X52-Pro with my DK2, so these additions are pointless for me.

Pity Oculus won't be selling a version without them. Or will they? (genuine question).

The CV1 improves on the DK2 in more than just the power-guzzling resolution and framerate; the ease of wearing a headset that has integrated microphone and speakers, the more ergonomic lenses. There's also the good chance that support will all but die for the DK2. If I were you I'd wait for the CV1, unless the release of the VIVE results in a glut of cheap DK2s in the secondhand market.
