<snip>

This is a part of the current puzzle. Methinks there's something that could have already been solved earlier. Or not.

e:

I'm going to go pick up a Sidewinder for scanning.

<snip> this one was a new UA behaviour, introduced in 1.4 and not present before. With a good ear, no need of any spectrogram, nor any other tool. Just ear, pen and paper. Believe me. There are people here translating morse by ear very easily. Not me... :)

So why is it pointing to Merope.

I think the next task is to make sure we let one UA scan each type of ship.

What?! Are you nuts? We need to nuke them all! Kill them before they transmit military information to an unknown enemy?! COME ON. WAKE UP!!!!

Next they will be sending weapon info. Maybe we need to go back to the original recordings and see what they were transmitting back then. It might be shield strength or harmonics so they are worthless against the Aline Scum weapons.

(If that was a bit harsh i was only "in character" ;) )

So now we know what the UA exactly is and what it does. Great work to all who assisted :)

But one part of the mystery remains - who are the images being sent to, and why? I have a feeling we'll find out during Horizons.

<snip>
This particular aspect of the UA was new to 1.4, so it wasn't solvable in previous versions by ANYONE.

That said, I consider this a bit if an Easter Egg. Great fun, but somewhat 'meta'. Still, if you actually KNOW morse, it's ABSOLUTELY possible to hear and transcribe in-game. The good recordings made it easy to hear, but personally my morse skills were just not able to record QUICKLY enough.

I get the feeling Delmonte has put a lot of effort in and is a bit on the tired side too. MB mentioned there are meta games going on on the forum as well as the in game data and behaviour. I get where Demonte is coming from but i also do agree and come down on the side of " this is a new behaviour" I have loved the pondering and fiddling the last few days. Felt it was coordinates a while back but was not he wrong track. Generally we need much more of this.

Definitely the most fun I've had in the game, although I can't say I'll miss the somewhat tedious morse transcribing.

Now what am I supposed to do? ;-)

But but what does this all mean?

No one would have believed in the first years of the Thirty Fourth century that this civilisation was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this civilisation with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.

Well congrats 'team'. And especially Mike Juliett Kilo of course.

Now? Now????
Now what?.......the 'UA' Mystery continues Imo ;) = what are they for? We still have no clue.
Happily :D

Immediately recognised the source and had Richard Burton read that in my mind. Lovely.
