OMG! You can make 20+Mil Cr per Hour, if you didn't realise.

What I'm enjoying more than anything else is the visible increase in Trade ranking.
15% towards my Tycoon rating in just shy of 2 hours last night.

What amazes me is why everyone's going to Sothis. You don't need to go anywhere like that far out to get the decent paying missions. They might not pay 4-8MCr, but being able to run 2-3MCr missions 3x in the same amount of time is just as profitable.

I would need an asp that would mean I would already have to be rich, which defeats the purpose of a get rich fast scheme. It's nice an all, but if I already had an full speced asp, what would be the point? I guess to get an anaconda, idonno.

Asp ≠ End Game ship. There are lots of way more expensive ships that cost a bunch more to outfit, even aside from an anaconda. ;)

I think the fact that it requires that you have a certain trade rank balances the payouts being so high. Basically, you have to have earned the ability to recieve these missions and they provide you with enough money to have a good incentive for doing them at that wealth level. I still think that per hour bounty hunting with a 20% bonus or better still pays more once you have a Vulture or better (I can get about 10 to 12 million per hour that way). You have to spend a lot of time travelling out to Sothis, and you don't really make any money going that direction. And, to fill up a ship with quests takes a bit of patience and is an even less exciting "grind" than simple loop trading because you're literally just sitting there.

It must say something about this kinda of game mechanic ..... people clearly want it .... its fun .... i've never had a post receive so many REP ..... that means people agree that its fun
Frontier should read this thread, take heart from it and formalise the BB system to support this kinda of mad-dashing across the sector for high risk/reward

Although ironically the more popular this gets the worse i'm finding the 'fun' factor.... last night i did another small batch and saw in both private group & open the station was stacked....... but on my way back i was getting almost no chasing .... maybe 3rd or 4th previous amounts..... seems once the servers get loaded up they scale the AI / NPC's back .... when i did my 1st run it was early UK time and the station was quiet but the NPC's were going mental after me .... last night it was exact opposite ... humans aplenty but no NPC's chasing

So i don't like how we have to get these missions but i'm glad its there, FD just need to analyse, formalise and balance it all out to make it feel like i'm Han Solo doing the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs :)

I think it's a bit over the top, but yeah.. if it hasn't been nerfed this weekend, I'll get my DBX out of the garage for sure.
Been grinding way too much for failing or low pay-out CG's recently.
Not going to complain if they lower the rewards to more reasonable levels though.

No it doesn't. Maybe you'd like to explain why you think it does?

No, but because these missions are obviously not how the game is intended to work, and that people post "I hope Frontier don't patch it" shows people know that these missions shouldn't be paying this much.

Now, there is a debate as to whether Frontier should have missions in the game that pay this much, and whether Frontier will see comments like "this is the most fun I've had for a while" (paraphrasing) and adjust the game accordingly.

Frontier don't want to make a game so tediously mind-numbingly boring that no-one wants to play, so any assumption they do, is wrong. Frontier also don't want to make a game that's too easy. They are better than we are at knowing where the right balance is.

It totally does.
I see it as, ' how much game time loss would I accept to stay and fight in a maxed out anaconda , with the chance to lose and pay insurance for it, to actually stay and fight and not combat log instead.'
To me, that is about 2 hours game time TOPS... any longer and it is a punishment that I will log to avoid. A little pain is OK, but punishment, no, this is a game.
There are more compaints about combat logging and this is the pure and simple reason why.
Any boost to encourage people to stay and fight that does not involve punishing them is the way to go.
They should even introduce a new narcotic option to smuggle, with higher payouts and distances that switches players to open mode, 'Openium' or something.....

But you're supposed to enjoy the journey, not parachute into a conda in week 1.

Combat logging is a seperate issue and is not a reason to give everyone easy access to a battle conda with no risk.

Thought this was a one off when I saw these last week..........I took the missions and have been slave trading since back in civ .....now the real important question is.....whats the Sothis Gold allocation like?

No. You're connecting these smuggling missions people are doing to combat logging. There is no connection, you're artificially putting that connection in there.

I am doing these missions and haven't combat logged (in fact I have never combat logged) so I don't see how there can be a connection.

no. It is only incredulity that refuses to see the two are connected.

I have tried exploring, trading (a little), bounty hunting, and lately, smuggling. I enjoy them all. Smuggling is fun because, even in solo, I find it an easy way to RP. So I enjoy smuggling. But I refuse to take advantage of this. I do not mean to put anyone to shame; by all means, get it while its hot! But me? I just don't WANT to suddenly have all the $'s. I want to feel like I EARNED that money. Not in a grindy way, mind you. But its not a grind if you RP. And me? I likes me some RP. So I grind away. But its not grinding you see, because I RP.

I like smuggling, and If I smuggle for a few hours and get all that money, I wont have any more reason to smuggle.

Smuggle. Smuggle. Smuggle. Ever said a word too many times, and then it suddenly sounds weird to you? Smuggle. Smuggle. Smmmmmmuuuuuugle. Damnit.

I like this new way of earning credits. Smuggling is great fun. But maybe FD should work on the details just a little, because getting 1,4m cr. for bringing 3 tons of hydrogen fuel to some place 400ly away seems .... strange. Or did I miss the fuel crisis in the heart of the bubble?

Maybe it's destined to some crime figure who can't come into open to actually buy it themselves :D ...without getting KoS'ed.

Ah that, yeah. I think I've reported that 6 months ago. The version I got was a mission asking for food because of a food crisis, in a station having a Huge and Wealthy Agriculture Economy that was literally stuffed to the top with veggies.

I think they are working on it :p

hehe..

or maybe it´s for some local resistance guy, living inBeetrix, so much can be said (hopefully fighting the feds -- horray!!!). There´s civil war going on atm, and this guy needs untracked, second hand fuel to build an illegal secret undercover fuel bomb to win the war for the Beetrix Peace League. Following the old principle: "If you want peace, you gotta bomb them first."

I can see this really triggers my fantasy. :)

But then, wait...... whats the price for hydrogen fuel on the market again?

Update: As i arrive in Beetrix to deliver the fuel I realize my freight isn´t considered illegal, which makes this mission even funnier. But ok, i´ll just take the cr and won´t complain anymore. 1,4m for 3 tons fuel .... crazy. Ha!

I was hoping to find a valuable thread on smuggling, and some of it is here...

Then I found words like exploit, hacks, and the worst - "end-game ship"

...

smh. I've been playing about 6 months almost now.

Never went "above" an Asp besides my attempts at the clipper. Why? None of those big ships interest me.

My cobra, dbs, dbx, and now courier do(did) their part in powerplay, even pvp when the mood strikes me.

My asp and adder for mining.

All of them play their parts on the BB.

What "end-game ship" ? You mean those massive ones that are slow?

It honestly reminds me beating up ferraris in my kit car. They got upset at the "costs" too.

I don't care if these missions pay 1/5th they do now. They are some of the most fun I've had in this game.

It kills me my Internet went snafu lol. Not for the credits. What do I need them for?

But for the lols my friends and I have enjoyed running these "Kessel runs!" I haven't even been to Sothis yet!

Tldr - plz keep the gameplay around regardless of whatever else happens.

Yeah, I agree with you. I bought a python and didn't really like it. I suspect the Anaconda would be a larger slower version of the python so at a guess I won't like that either.

Asp for exploration, Asp for mining, Asp for rares trading & smuggling, FDL & Vulture for combat. I'm loving using these ships and at the moment I'm loving doing these smuggling missions. The money isn't the main draw but it does mean I'll probably try out some of the other ships (under the python size) which I wouldn't have before.

I don't see the biggest ships as end game. I see them as big, slow ships for specific purposes. Personally, I can't see any "endgame" content in Elite. It's all just content.

Is it really a good idea getting unhappy at people who can make the entire galaxy just disappear for 2 hours?
good point. i'll amend my position to 'mildly disappointed'

Hope they dont patch it, been a lot more fun than Trading... most fun i have ever had in ED.
likewise, i had a blast on my last trip (even after failing some missions due to the extended outage) - i don't know how it all played out for you, but i had to really stay on the ball the whole time - there was barely any time to read the map, there was always something that needed doing or a threat that needed watching

but now i've got all these tiny little bounty claims from many obscure systems cluttering up my transaction page. i'll probably have to build another Asp and go on a tour to collect them all
