I would love to see someone try. Boring as hell, and not efficient to boot, specially in a game with such a large play area as ED.I find the time-zone argument to be moot. You can stay up 24/7 to defend stuff - its up to you not the game blocking it.
(Well, I did see people attempt something similar enough times. I always have a stack of books by my computer, so whenever someone decided to corpse camp my character in a MMO, I would simply pick one of the books and read it for an hour or two while moving the mouse to prevent my character from going AFK. By the time I remembered to get back to the game the would-be camper would be long gone.)

BTW, path of least resistance doesn't really apply to games, because games are basically a just for fun activity; as such, the path of least resistance, when it comes to games, would be simply to not play.
