This is the crux of the matter. Peeps want to dominate other peeps, and show them who is boss. Unfortunately, in video games and in consumer networking there is no such thing as "dominance".

Well, people just see the first "solo vs open" problem? xD
I'll edit this post and put it on last?
That would be rather disingenuous. The thrust of your post IS about your distaste for solo which you've already made more than clear in previous posts sprinkled with carebear references. Personally, my advice to you would be to just move on to acceptance because solo is not going anywhere, they aren't going to lock the modes away from each other, and FD isn't going to incentivise open as they are on record as saying that all modes are equal and valid. Nothing you brought up is new or original and it has all been shot down again and again.

the modes in game are not equal though...in open you have real danger from real humans
Elite Dangerous is open mode..

i also play solo sometimes myself when im feeling a bit unsociable, but i just want to say that someone who has earned there stripes in open has had a way more tougher time doing it than in solo.
and also i do like the carebear thing it is funny......last time i see carebears was probably when i was in junior school coz all the girls were mad for it lol......oh and my little pony!....i see that stuff has come back
and theres guys out there who are "into" this stuff......as a 35 year old games veteran i am stunned by the modern days fads.

its no wonder some of these peeps hide in solo......

Carebronys lol

Solo vs. open?

Why is it really an issue, you rarely see all the players around in open anyway.....

There's something wrong with the game as it is now, it really breaks the immersion that you only see other crafts when you're joining another persons instance.... The, they'll spawn after a while when you're in your own instance, doesn't really work.

Did I miss something? Apart from the first "solo/private" section, I thought OPs comments would have applied to all modes. He's even suggesting a tighter BGS integration between the modes.

Due to the time I think your getting a larger than normal amount of positive posts to your OP. im not going to be too negative but I found it hard to read after the "build your own station" part. You make some valid points but that's the crunch.

In Elite I go where I want. I may be wanted by the controlling faction but that should just make it much harder to get where I want to go (I.e. Harder than it is now). You shouldn't be able to decide if I can dock there. At all.

Put simply there should never be any guild content whatsoever that disadvantages those who don't want to be in a guild. And I believe FD realise that.

Even simpler. You don't matter. This world happens around you, you can affect it in a way but you'll never control it. Guess the existentialism is strong in some people :)

All, obviously, in my opinion.

I have no idea what any of that means, but I can set my router to the "White List Only" mode with ED server IP, TeamSpeak server IP on it plus my friends IPs.

Group Mode a'la Sky :D

Yep, there are many ways. ED was never meant to force players to play together, and the networking choices make that clear.

I also agree with many of the OP's points. I still don' understand why solo and private have to have influence on the background sim and community goals and powerplay. If players want to play in SINGLEplayer they should also just affect a SINGLE player.
Same applies for groups.

Also this whole P2P instancing is very bad as there are quite often more than one instance(s) in high populated systems for example in community goals or PP HQs.
The Code pays 15m cr for killing the CMDR Braben. Reason: establishing P2P technic haha :D
But it is true. It is simply not a MMO in the traditional sense.
Now ofcourse you still see players but atleast half of the fun is destroyed because you know that atleast the same amount of players are additionally hiding in solo and private or unintentionally in open in another instance.

CQC is a joke I agree. Will probably never play it if nothing changes, still rank helpless, don't care lol.
There is basically no point in playing CQC if you have to grind merits and credits in the main game.

The station creating would be awesome but should only be available to player groups and the station can be controlled by the group. They can fix prices in the market as well as buy additional equipment to sell better ships and outfitting modules (connect to system's economy) and with horizons, how about a mining nase on a metallic planet?
There are so cool ideas on the forums but I have not the impression that FD wants to create a dynamic game. Seems like they want to keep it simple amd static, which is unfortumate.

The Solo/private huge mistake:[/SIZE][/I][/U]
Well, after300hours, I have see much problems, like Powerplay and trade 100% on Solo/private.
Today a trader only trade on solo, cause he don't have reward for playing on Open, and he can't give money to friends for escort him. (And don't try to talk about the comm'dividendes, it's a joke, nobody will do this job for that.)
It mean all military escort and piratery are destroyed.
For the powerplay, there is a BIG problem, nobody care. Yeah, your PP win or lose, you're doing an actually done obj or something useless you don't care, you'll earn money.
And there is a ridiculous PvP reward (like +20 points?), It mean, nobody will really do PvP for an objective (cause there is no objectiv and nobody care).

How patch it?

Traders will gain +50% for doing a trade 100% (more less?) on Real World (open) IDK how we can see it, but I hope we can. And with this option, you want SPLIT benefits to your team "10K for you, 20 for you" IDK. But we need something to force players to go on real World, and if you don't want nerf/Destroy solo, you have to up Open.

As has been mentioned in the thread already, there is a series of threads on the Solo vs Open vs Group debate - the current incarnation is here.

Should you wish to discuss these core game features (i.e. three game modes; single shared galaxy state between all modes and platforms; mode mobility), please do so there.

Since offline mode was pulled from ED, solo/private was the more logical option for me. I liked the idea of meeting others in the ED universe, but then the reality of what online gaming has become soured that idea: it was good to begin with, then the "rot" started. Elite has, and always will be, a solo game to me IMO, and there isn't a person alive who could convince me to play otherwise. ;)

As Robert said, there is already a thread where mode-related threads go to die. Please, everyone, don't feed this thread to the monster. Comment on OPs other (non-mode-related) points or just leave it.
