Currently these CG are the melting point for PvP battles. You will find pirates (who claim to rob/kill traders) and you will find other clans (who claim to protect traders). But mostly both are looking for PvP action against each other. Kaushpoos is currently the best example. Just google "Kaushpoos" and you will find pure PvP action. Battle ships against battle ships. Many times (not always) the traders are not really in focus, but just give the background story for the pew-pew actions.

I'm not talking about CG's.. You said

Except the hotspots e.g. Community Goals - otherwise I agree with you. This is because an Open world with all players would make this great game even more lively and fun. But it needs some "protection" for these pilotes who are flying T6 and lower along their financial limits. Hopefully most of the CMDR's did make a small fortune with smuggling so everyboy should be able to afford some ship crashes by pirates or others.

So I asked..

So what about those who cannot PVP (and I don't mean sucking at combat)... or those who don't like playing with others? They should be shoved into open and "man up"?

Even if I was talking about CG's you didn't answer the question and just told me about PVP action and where I could find it, when I specifically said "Those who CANNOT PVP (and I don't mean sucking in combat) "

perhaps im just in a bad spot at the mo,i dont see any light.....i have been at the so called end game for a long time.....i just want to buy a base or starport lol.

There isn't any "end game" though, there never really was with Elite and the game is certainly in the classic mode of a sandbox game. I've been playing since Gamma and I'm only currently in a mid-specced Python because I've spent more time doing things and pretty much no time "grinding".

YAWN!!!

Ok the the OP got ED on steam, so how long after launch and open beta was that, and how many reviews and you tube videos had be published. Yet he still bought it, so he must have either known what the game was about and the type of play to expect or he just had his head stuffed up....er hmmm in the sand and clicked buy now without taking any time to research what he was spending his money on.

Boy that was really smart, I can only imagine what he does in a restaurant.....opens the menu points to the first thing he sees and says to the waiter "I will have that" the waiter brings him his steamed cabbage and he says "hey what is this I wanted steak" , the waiter opens the menu and show him where he pointed and it says seasonal veg. Yeah I think that is just about what he does .... but do correct me if I am wrong.s

Oh and yes I am sorry Mr moderator I promise to play nice and not point out peoples shortcomings in future because it is no their fault !

You've never ordered a meal at a restaurant knowing what the description is (or just experimenting) but not being overly thrilled with what you received? Never had that conversation with friends, "Well, I gave this a go. Generally pretty good. But it kind of left me with a strange aftertaste?"

I really prefer when people discuss the OPs concerns (either agree with him, add to it, or explain why you think different) rather than just falling back on the simplistic "He should have known what he was buying."

Elite Dangerous: One Galaxy For All - Open Play

ED is a Great game and I am looking forward to Horizons and beyond, It is a game that forces its players to create their own content in the huge sandbox that is Elite Dangerous.

Currently our community of gamers have options to play Solo, Open, and in Private groups, With all of the available Play modes I feel our community is fragmented, and this fragmentation of players is really hurting our ability to create engaging content, situations and opportunities for exciting gameplay.

I do not play online games to fight NPCs, NPCs are predictable, boring and easily outsmarted by the player. Traders have no Risk they are all in Solo, Pirating NPCs sucks but thats your only real option with no traders in open to find, bounty hunters are stuck fighting endless waves of NPCs due to the lack of Pirates in Open, Trade Escorts dont exist as the traders play Solo, I could go on but you get the idea.

Here is one suggestion that is Simple, EASILY implemented and will Help UNITE all our players in ONE GALAXY, AS IT SHOULD BE.

----------Give an extra 10% gain on any activity performed in Open Play-------

Right now all big traders play in solo, and I want to bring them / entice them, into playing Open because without Traders there are no Pirates, without Pirates, there are no Bounty hunters. These 3 Proffesions are the pillars of a True Space game. Big Traders could hire Escorts or Mercenaries to hunt other Pirates, There would actually be a valid reason to use Wings in Trading, Mining, Pirating, Bounty Hunting. Powerplay would benefit as well as they create the perfect hub for players to find other players.

I understand that you dont want to force players to play in Open but at least reward the players that do so. Players playing in Open, take bigger Risks and we are not being rewarded for taking that extra Risk. Let the folks who dont want player engagement to continue to have solo and private groups, and give the rest a good reason to play Open if they choose!

JUST LEAVE US ALONE TO PLAY THE GAME HOW WE LIKE PLEASE the forum doesn't let me tell you exactly how I feel about this idea but the profanity I'm shouting your way should suffice. THE ONLY THING THAT DISUNITES THIS COMMUNITY IS YOU COMING IN HERE AND TELLING US HOW TO PLAY not your job and not welcome thanks

I'm an Open player and I find that the risk is all the reward I need!
Is it not enough for you?

Now look what you've done, LasherX5 - you've made EISENHORN01 all shouty

I mostly play solo because I'm mostly trading right now and this game takes long enough to build up money trading without having to deal with pirates (I only have so many hours a week I can play).

So I really appreciate solo mode.

However, I appreciate where you're coming from and I agree that making the game more profitable in open play would help to encourage some players to participate in open (I certainly would). And it's logical, more money for more risky game play, right?

What I would also love to see is FD making it easier to interact with other players like, easier to hire escorts, easier to pay them, etc. Right now those in-game functions barely exist and are clunky as all get out. Making that kind of gameplay time consuming and immersion breaking.

The unfortunate fact is that this game was built from the ground up to be a single person/solo game and the "open" play seems to have been added as an afterthought which means, it will be quite a while before FD actually gets around to creating a more engaging multiplayer game. Right now it's just a bunch of single players playing near each other.

Ok I will agree to this if you can guarantee that players will not attack other players "for no profit"

What do I mean?

Simple if there is not profit in attacking another player (standing, credits, cargo ect) then you do not attack them. That is the reason that I spend about 50% on my time in solo, when I am attacked "just for fun" it breaks the immersion of the game, but if I am carrying cargo and a pirate demands it of I have a bounty on me then I can understand why I would be attacked. It is that simple so there you go if you want more players in open the play the game as if you are really there not like a three year old who just wants to pew pew and if there are no player to attack live with it.

Oh and OP learn to use the search feature it will save you repeating what has been said by hundreds of players already and looking like a fool. :)
