Chained missions introduction as well![]()
So, think 1.5 will be treated like a normal beta and release publicly after 2-4 weeks or will it only be released along with Horizons at the end of the year? Cheers!
wait... It is today that we can try 1.5 ya? Anyone know what time? [more less?]
Greets cmdrs!
Ahhh... I thought the beta of 1.5 was announced to be released today. I am sure I saw a pic with release dates 9th nov - beta 1.5, 24th nov beta 2.0
You can find it in this thread.

Earlier in the year we updated the mission system to allow us to add more variety and mission related content and that process has progressed throughout the year and will continue into the Horizons season and beyond. There are a number of changes and additions coming in the 1.5 Ships update and so will be available to both season one and two players.
Missions can now be received in space, so they’re not always taken from the Bulletin Board and can be received from encounters with other ships. A variant on this are missions that can be triggered by scooping certain items in space. Timed assassination missions will be available from the Bulletin Boards, similar to the assassination missions in FFE you need to find your target at a certain time and place.
This timing mechanism is also available for other mission types where the mission target can only be found at a specific time. Alongside this, missions can now have multiple stages – this applies as sequences of the same mission type, so delivering goods to a station and then bring something else back. Note that this isn’t fully chained missions yet (which we define as different missions in a sequence), although these are planned as part of the Horizons season. A specific variant on this are tasks that have to be completed after a successful assassination.
A survival element to missions means that a player will have to survive specific encounters before being able to complete a specific mission, for example delivering secret information to a contact while being hunted. Another aspect for a player to be aware of are those that require them to be completed without being scanned – something I’m sure skilled smugglers will have an advantage with![]()
I'm sure there will be more than 3 ships introduce as well.
Here’s a list of the ships we’ve announced so far, and as an extra treat we’ve added the names of the five ships coming as part of Elite Dangerous 1.5.
25 Imperial Short Range Fighter (CQC only)
26 Lakon Keelback
27 Viper MK IV
28 Asp Scout
29 Federal Corvette
30 Imperial Cutter
31 Cobra MK IV (for owners of Season 1 and Season 2)
I think Braben promised 1 new CQC arena would be release as well.
Just a heads up that David was carried away in the moment on the steam and said the extra CQC maps would make it in to 1.5, in fact we have them planned for release during Season 2, apologies - he has been suitable chastised!.

Being excited for anything only opens you up to a chance for disappointment. I don't mean this in a rude way, but I find that it's better to expect the worst outcome. Then, whatever the outcome is; it's usually better than what you anticipated and you feel better about it. Crazy right?
What do I mean by this? Well perhaps a few examples.
Example 1). "Shipmates, were going to Jordan for a 1-week port visit, should be a great time." [Note: We had gone to the Red Sea specifically for this visit]. End result, we got our port visit to Jordan cancelled and ended up spending a week at anchor in Hurghada, Egypt. Ever been to Hurghada Egypt? I believe "hurghada" translates to armpit in English.
Example 2). "Well, we have been in the Arabian Gulf for almost 8-months; so for New Years we are going to the Seychelles." We ended up spending New Years in Mombasa, Kenya. Ever had a hamburger served with flies? The wings were delicious.
Example 3). After sailing from Japan all the way to Australia for Shoal Water Bay exercises between OZ and U.S. Marines, we were told that we would be visiting Brisbane. Oh the joy! one of my bucket list destinations, for years I had really hoped to visit this city and see its sights. Did we go to Brisbane? No, of course not; because some silly Bstards on another ship screwed it up and we ended up going to Mackay (which is actually a pretty nice place, but that's besides the point). Docking at the bulk sugar terminal in Mackay was interesting to say the least. However, the people (as usual in OZ) were fantastic.
There are many other examples. Point being, I find it better to be a pessimist; and I hope you don't take that the wrong way, but it just seems to work better for me.
So non left for us then?

Not exactly, real chained mission will come with Horizons, 1.5 brings "semi-chained" missions where you just have multiple iterations of the same mission mechanic glued together, no chained missions in the sense of different mission types (smuggling + combat, for example) in one string of missions:
Me thanks!
