I very much doubt it. There may be a firmer release date for the Gamma, which is when all the kickstarters will get into the game. But even FD will not have a completely clear idea about how long Gamma will take. They may have a 'far away' (September, for obvious reasons) date in mind, and think they have enough wiggle room to hit that even if they have to do more work than they hope to fix bugs and balance things out.... Which would perhaps indicate that there is a much firmer release date for the actual game too?

I recall Michael saying that they were in close contact - meaning that Frontier's been providing them with all the resources that they need.
But... Peter F. Hamilton? Alastair Reynolds? (the only two contemporary SF authors I read, really.)
