News letter #100 Xbox one.....

With the lack of replies on here, though some members have responded ( thank you ). I would assume, as I'm sure FD would make the same assumption.... That most of the community is ok with the lack of information provided for the xbox community. If we want FD to wake up and see how unprofessional this is, we need to say it. POST FOLKS. 8 posts isn't going to make them take notice or change. They won't even considering it an issue and just consider this post a rant from a couple disgruntled gamers. Its funny how posts about logging and posts about other meaningless things get hundreds of responses yet this one isn't looked at. Really shows whats truly important to this community....


Ok so though i am beta pc, i don't play it much anymore, i am vested in the X1 version completely.

With that said. Yet another news letter comes and goes. And yes its been 100 now. 83 of which i have been apart of. Some good info which most folks here have read. Why then do i post this?

Well yet another news letter goes by where no information is given about us on xbox. Yet again FD shows little to know interest in saying anything about xbox, its current state, and at least a minimal time frame of 1.5 and 2.0. Nothing about how we will be able to take part in 2.0, if we will get a life time option. If i had read this news letter for the first time, i would assume i had signed up for the pc one by accident.

I don't care that we're not apart of some kind of beta for either 1.5 or 2.0. It is what it is, but any information about said content on xbox would really be helpful. I know that the majority of players are not here on the forums, many of which will never join. I don't join forums for games, Elite was different, but many ppl i know will not, and rely on me, and or the newsletters for updates. In many of these gamers eyes 1.5 and 2.0 isn't coming to xbox, why would many ppl think this? ( though not the case ) Because i can't think of a single recent news letter saying " Xbox 1 will get 1.5, will get 2.0 ( Horizons ), how much it will cost, projected release date, if content will be the same "

Yes i know we will get both, yes i know much of the content will be the same, no none of us know when, none of us know anything about it other than the pc info that's been released. Then there is the other thread, which had an FD rep get on and state we will get 1.5 same as pc. Well ok if that is true, then why has there been statements that 1.5 and 2.0 would be bundled so that everyone gets new content, whether they paid for horizons or not. This was stated many times, then that post with the FD rep who just stated 1.5 at retail, why would you go out of your way to say that and not answer the obvious question...... Xbox Horizons?

If xbox isn't something FD is currently able/interested in talking about, then be professional enough to approach us as a community and make a PR statement explaining this. PR the whole thing for all i care, just say something. Rant over. Back to fallout. Thank god i have fallout to rely on in times like these haha, Oh Elite, still love ya, just not your makers right now.

I truly think they overlook the profit potential of the Xbox one.. as Such player I didn't have to buy a computer to play this game, as I had bought it for C.O.D. .. I have been in the G.P.P and was in Cqc When it dropped.. the latter got old fast.. Where I sit right now is I only spent 40$ on this game and am looking for a reason to spend more. SKINS, ADD ONS and anything else aE.d. would sell me.. Maybe an AVATAR ITEM like an ed shirt Or a toy Spaceship for it.. Yet.. Here we are the disliked middle child looking for acknowledgement.. PLEASE F.D. show me my WORTH.. IT won't take much... JUST ACKNOWLEDGE US , reference us or at least once give us a time line so I can start saving MORE money to buy your goodies..

I agree they too quite, there's being tight lipped with secret's than there's causing the playerbase to lose faith in you. FDev are dangerously close to the latter.

Just from reading through the FDev updates and changelogs, and taking their participation in the forums into consideration, it's obvious to me that they DO listen to the users as a whole. They appear to be extremely dedicated to one singular cause: maintaining and expanding upon Elite. Despite the relative lack of transparency, I think it would be premature to assume that they are not going to fully support and expand the Xbox version of the game.

At the same time, and while I hate to make comparisons like this, there happens to be another gigantic, very very expensive, space-based game out there that despite having nearly 1/10 of 1 billion dollars, has not been released. Even so, that particular game is so transparent that all of the backers know exactly what is going on in development, all of the time. Except the release dates, of course. ;)

Thank you all for your feedback. Considering an FD rep came on that other thread and responded on there multiple times, it makes me think they skim through the new threads at the least. I know, that this isn't all of us, in fact I would be shocked if someone actually, and honestly came on here and not only defended FD on this, but said they were ok with how they are going about this whole thing.

There was a period before ED came to Xbox. I had put more than 800 hours into the beta, and then 1000 in to the launch product. Loved being reset each build, greatest thing ever! (sarcasm) Though even then I respected FD, supported and defended them. Then came Xbox, FD didn't want to support us backers who moved to Xbox, oh a 5 gift from their store? Lol didn't use that, can't use the store on Xbox.

So now its been a number of months, no paints for ships, PC has.... No private play, PC has.... No unlock of full controller option which is two times what we currently have.... More and more feeling like FD just used us as a cash grab. More and more I feel like they act a lot like Activision.

Then there is 1.5/2.0. Now really just how hard is it, for some individual over at FD to write a few sentences about our games progress. Do we need information? Yes, now I will take this all back if they do the whole shock and awe and give us both 1.5/2.0 same day, but then begs the question of pricing, and why oh why couldn't they say anything.

There was a day I would blindly defend FD. But that has long passed. They disrespect us as gamers, they seem to think we couldn't handle full controller options, and feel that informing us of anything would just be to hard and a waste of their time. Why? Cause we are console, just a bunch of kids right?......... Lol.

I agree with you completely. I have been playing since gpp and am still wondering what bonus we were supposed to get post release for buying the game pre release. I know I remember reading we were going to get something but that's all it said... Also when will we get paint jobs...if we get paint jobs, as I don't remember reading anything about this.

Yes we will get paint jobs, ETA? SOON. Yes we're supposed to get some kind of recognition: ETA SOON. Have they stated any information about what your asking: ONCE..... for each, many months ago without any defining answer other than SOON. This is the kind of issue i am talking about, and wish more ppl would call FD out on. The very fact we still have no paint jobs is a joke, free money FD. Really? This is only a couple items in a long list of items they fail to go into detail on. Yet when these type of questions come up for PC they're all over it. Fact is, until proven otherwise by FD, they have shown very little interest in keeping in touch with their xbox player base. If there was another sim similar to elite on xbox i would have already left, due to their unprofessional approach as of this time....

Mavrac I must also agree with your stance on FD. I have been an avid player of ED since it was released on Xbox One way back in June thru the Xbox GPP. I have put in countless hours and was very happy with the way FD handled it thru the GPP but I expected more with the full release and beyond and that has not happened. I see the PC side getting constant updates and communications from FD on at least a weekly basis and not a peep for us on the Xbox side. It's disappointing that a developer like FD isn't being supportive of all platforms on a regular basis, you can't telling that they don't have someone on there staff that is in charge of Xbox development for ED that could be keeping us updated and informed of the goings on for ED on Xbox One. OK rant over, I still love this game and can only hope for the best for it.

I'm worried..
I really love this game and hope to play it for years to come. But..
A month ago I was begging for more ways to spend some more money on ED. Now that they are being so quiet though, if the skins and bobble heads come on I will be very cynical about getting any of it before I see 1.5 and 2.0.
Cause as you say OP, for now it seems we're a cash grab for them working on PC.

My second and hopefully last rant.

FD Staff do read these forums and post replies when appropriate. There's a lot of work going on behind the scenes around trying to bring DLC, Private Groups, 1st Discovered By, Horizons, etc.... to the Xbox One, as well as general game improvements and new content. However, it's not as straight forward as it is on some of our other platforms and with multiple dependencies it makes estimating timescales tricky.
