Black skins announcement?

I'm going to get an FdL, apply the black skin, and fly into the nearest sun, while playing some plutonium rock music at a volume that will deafen people on the nearby planets.

I know it's great they (Frontier) include everyone who already has Horizons, but I'd be in favour of them doing something like this that (for example) was only available to those who purchased something today (ie you only get the black paintjobs if you buy something from the store today, it being Black Friday).

But this would cause too much rage on these very forums, so yes, I understand why Frontier don't do it ... but I think they should.

Maybe that's the point! I am stoked my cold running ships will now be able to have a matt black skin to make it harder to find them.

This was also my thought. Kind of scary to think how hard it will be to see silent running ships with these skins on...with shields meta losing it's undisputed crown as of 1.5 I think a lot of people will be running these.

Hang on. The ship colours are BLACK? But the colour of space; the predominant space colour is also black......... so how are you supposed to see 'em?

Midnight is an incentive to pre-order Horizons. But there are also black skins in the tactical packs.

The skin you're referring to in the tactical pack is called 'graphite' and it's more of a dark grey, it's a lot lighter than black.

Once it's available, those who are eligible for them, should just see them in-game when changing paintjobs. If you don't see it in-game (when it is available) and think you're eligible for it, contact support.

If it was marketed as "free midnight paint jobs to all purchases on the Frontier store over £5 today only" or similar then yes, I'd be in favour of that. If it was marketed as "free midnight paint jobs to all those who pre order today only" then I'd be angry that by pre-ordering pretty much as soon as possible I'd screwed myself out of a better deal.

Luckily, neither is the case and I'm happy that the current offer is reasonable and rewards those who pre-ordered earlier as well as giving an incentive to pre-order today.

I have the lifetime expansion pass already, do I have to still pre-order Horizons in order to have access to the skins? or will it just be available automatically when Horizons\Horizons Beta is in store ready for download (or via launcher)?

That whole system will be marked: 'Disaster Area'!
