VJ New Video - Class 4PA

Great video, love your FDL series. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who gave up on C4PA - this is not a weapon for rubbish combat pilots such as myself. I totally agree that it is a great weapon of opportunity, and is probably great for bounty hunting where you have first strike advantage, but in high intensity combat zone furball (and that's pretty much all i'm flying at the moment), i can't predict flight path and aim the weapon at anything farther than a few hundred meters.

Not only that, but power consumption is so great, you can't turtle up (4 Pips to SYS) and still shoot in the event of an ambush (say, a couple of rail gun Asps and Python while you struggle to hit a Conda). And on top of that, you can't use pulse lasers while shooting PA either as you need all the energy you can get.

So i'm going back to my old setup - three cannons through the nose and two beam lasers on the side, all gimballed. Three cannons have almost the same DPS as one PA (23 MJ vs 26 MJ), and really, to strip shields or melt small ships dual beams firing continuously are plenty most of the time. But at least i can turtle up and still smite the enemies with 23 MJ worth of cannon fire. Can't really do this with a PA unless you are a good pilot with quick fingers on power management.

My final verdict on Fer de Lance PA - not a weapon for bad combat pilots in unpredictable situations.

Thanks for the video! The C4PA is definitely a fun weapon to use, but sure does take a bit of getting used to.

Your videos are excellent, very well made and the information is very well presented. I enjoy that you speak from experience and highlight methods and techniques that work for you. Keep it up and thank you!

Good video, i certainly look forward to putting one on my Annie and giving it what we all fear that Huge PA hit, but i use trailing targeting and if anything you could mention that might be an easier form of targeting to help land the PA, i certainly find it much much easier.

Agian thanks, again great video! ;)

Nice work as per usual VJ :)

Thanks a lot for those vids, really nice work from you.

Thanks everyone, Really appreciate it.

Ironhammer, I prefer leading because it gives you a much better idea about how the target is moving, and their speed... But really I think its a very personal choice.

Bam! and the pirate's gone :)

Great video, looks pro. Do you do this sort of thing for a living?

Thanks again, and yes I do.. I run my own production business, but spend most of my time making boring explainer videos for clients products or services... doing these videos, especially my more silly videos is my way of releasing all that frustration dealing with difficult clients and REALLY REALLY boring corporate videos.. lol.. I would like to put more time into making these videos, so thats why they are not always perfect, but gotta prioritize the work that pays the bills unfortunately!

Thanks mate... it was really weird, I got up this morning, saw an ED newsletter in my inbox, thought.. meh.. check it out a bit later, then saw I had about 50 new subscribers overnight.. and I was like.. wth.. choked on a bit of toast, came to the forums, as I usually do, see your message and go.. whooaa... that might have something to do with it! hehehe

Very well done.

However still did not convince me to give up my class 4 gimbaled cannon

I tried going back to the canon, and give it another go.. but nup.... I just cant do it.. lol... I tried 2 beams, 2 multicanons and the c4 canon... it is pretty good, bit slow on taking down shields, but hull damage was nice.. but still, that c4 just dosent hit as hard as it should...

I think its just one of those things, you either like it, or dont. There is no right answer, only what you feel works best for you.

All of VJ's tutorial videos have this awesome professional production quality you cannot but approve. So useful information this series, made me go buy an FDL some time ago. And now you ll pobably make me buy a paint pack for it as well. . . My in game and real life wallet hates you VJ . . .
