Not really, i never imagined that this planetary landing stuff could be so cool. This feature never intrested me in elite. I was never after this feature (in any other game). But that view, The sun, the Planet and then going deeper. That looked soo good.

We didn't ridicule PG as a thing. I'm just not a fan of using PG to populate an entire universe.

Any game that rely in heavy PG is boring as hell.
But if the game balances PG and regular handcrafted content it can become a masterpiece. CIG apparently understood that well
I also imagined it would be some Atmospheric Landing Stuff, as the PG Tech also does that. But no... They Gone Full Horizons on this and Generated the whole planet.
It's seamless, it's not a loading screen, it's not like we seen before the AI controlling you. And they seem to be balancing the Hand-Crafted Content with the PG Planet. Bravo

SC is still a very handcrafted universe based on lore. The side things will be PG. Landing zones are very much Hand crafted. That's what seperates SC from most games imo. Also nobody ridiculed PG it just shouldn't be used to populate the entirety of the universe and that's a preference based on the vision of CR and the most backers.
No, SC is still SC Alpha 2.0.
I figured the planetary landing was a fool's errand and was a waste of resources. They seemed really against the idea to begin with, and I thought it was because they knew the limitations in the engine.
Frankly, I'm shocked that they are this far along and that it looks THIS good. We'll see how it looks on a planet with vegetation and water.
