Well now I'm really, REALLY ticked off.

Not a troll, it's just something I take seriously in my gameplay. I'm a trader and explorer. I don't violate the laws, I don't enter combat if I can avoid it, and I don't violate the laws! I can't STAND having a blot like this on my record, even if it's just 100cr. It's like having a splinter in my shoe, it's a trivial thing that's causing me great pain.

Boy you need to get out an breath some fresh air....

Hm, feeling more ticked off.

I had decided to just pay the fine and carry on. Set my course to the unknown and started flying. Got through about 3/4 of my fuel and slipped into solar orbit to refuel... and nothing. No fuel scooping.

SO, I checked my systems and found I no longer have a fuel scoop. Apparently, it was removed to make room for the landing suite. So now my rather expensive T6 explorer with a cargo of painite and platinum is more or less marooned in the middle of nowhere.

But you paid the fine, so there's always a silver lining. :)

Just man up and pay the fine. Blot gone.

I kind of feel the same way myself but have had a few friendly fire fines now and some speeding tickets. I was a committed pacifist and always flew unarmed but have recently taken tp blowing up other ships and even done some illegal things. Which is part of my personal roleplay.

You, with malice aforethought, obliterated a rock.

You now want to seek absolution by deleting your save and starting over.

Not good enough I'm afraid. FD servers remember. There is NO rock you can hide under to avoid the stigma of callous obliterater of rocks.

You need to uninstall the game, take a magnet to your SSD, donate the rest of your PC to the Covent Rock Garden charity shop and close your Black Rock savings account.

Take two weeks off, get a hold of your finances, replace the PC and buy a new Elite licence.

Install and pray that you are not recognised planetside.

Godspeed.

Even if you wipe your save and start over with a new pilot...

... YOU still violated the law and it's still on YOUR record as an ILLEGAL action that YOU performed, EVEN if it isn't on your PILOT record.

I hope this was helpful for you.

OP, believe it or not most of these replies come from adults... people who think they are no longer children... Quite a surprise!

Ok so you have morals and I applaud you for that. I also play with a point of no return although mine is a little more forgiving. If I get my ship blown out from under me I roll a D20, evens and the escape pod gets me back to safety, odd's and it's a restart... So far 3 deaths and all has been ok. It's my way of adding a bit of danger to the game.

Fact is no matter how you choose to play the game there will always be those who feel the burning desire to jump on you for doing so. Very sad and yet more proof that we men find it hard to grow any older than 9. :D

do you reset yourself and destroy your car with a traffic fine too?

Hmm, did the 'rock' look like this? :

......and breathe.

Seriously, it is a very minor infraction and there is no other "injured party", why not let it slide?

I'm sure I've seen an advert for this sort of thing...

"Have you shot a rock, gained a fine and it wasn't your fault? Unclear warnings on fire exclusion zones? Don't let your life become a misery... Call our specialists, ROCKLAWYERS4U and you could receive 0% of your compensation. So don't clear your save, call ROCKLAWYERS4U today.."
