I don't want to blow up...

So as a continuation of some of my other post. I want to be sure I'm understanding this.

The fine at the top, I can just pay if I go there or let the timer run out? Or if the timer runs out will it now be a bounty on me?

The second one is a Bounty, if I fly to that system and I am scanned by a system ship, they will attack I'm guessing. Can I pay that or do I have to wait till the timer runs out, then pay the fine?

I should just go back to trading instead of ground missions, never had so many fines and bounties in my life

You should pay the fine off immediately. The bounty can be paid off after the time runs out.

Ideally, pay the bounty off at an outpost, where you won't see authority ships.

The alternative is don't pay either, if you don't intend to return to either system. They are both local to the system. It won't impact your game much (you might get attacked if someone scans you with a kws, that's all).

I'd really love the game to include more information about fines/bounties. Currently got a 200cr fine in 'Gold Major Co'. Would be great if I could remember where 'Gold Major Co' were! :D

Actually the bounty is only active in the system you got it, a KWS in another system will come up clean... I've a 4million bounty on my head and outside that system i've been repeatedly scanned with no ill effects.

Well... it can still be claimed, but whoever kills you will get a ~6400 bounty in that system because you're not wanted in that jurisdiction.

I hate the current fine system, some you need to pay before the timer runs out and others you have to wait till the timer runs out. The system seems to make sense to FD but sadly not to the rest of us. I think I probably have about a million in fines I haven't paid because the timers run out I haven't got a clue where there they was and there doesn't seem to be a way to tell where you have fines.

There are only two types: fines (small offenses), bounties (major infractions). Fines you can pay off immediately, bounties not. Bounties can get you killed, fines not. Call me an optimist but I like to believe at least a few people here possess the amazing intelligence required to distinguish between two different words. ;) Finally you have dormant bounties (bounties which the cops dont know you have) and legacy fines (bounties that expired). I know, four different terms, impossible! ;)

Umm as i said before, outside of the system where i earned the bounty, i'm clean, so there's nothing to claim.......

But that's not true. While you won't show up as wanted in another system, if your large bounty is still active, then it will show if a player KW scans you. They can then attack/kill you for that bounty (though as pointed out, may incur a bounty themselves by doing so).

Yes, you'll still be clean. But that doesn't stop someone killing you for the bounty. Npc bounty hunters have been known to engage purely on the directive of a kws scan, not caring if they get a bounty themselves.

So, whilst the op can defend themselves without fear of punishment, they said they wanted to avoid being blown up. And that is entirely possible if an npc attacks them following a kws scan.

I'm just giving him all the facts. And I didn't actually say they would show up as wanted ;)

So now I have a better understanding of this bounty thingy. I never thought about the KWS scans, but yes that bounty of 1155 is showing on my other panel as galaxy wide bounty, so that means who ever scans me, it would come up as wanted. Great hunted for 1155 credits, all because I shot down a drone that I didn't see at first and scan. You would thing that if 6 drones come up as wanted and begin attacking you that if you fire back, you should be pegged as wanted. Makes no sense. That's okay, stealth mode activated. :p

I'm pretty sure I just saw the guy with the 4 million credit bounty go ----> That way
This is not the ship you're looking for...

Your explanation is good but worth expanding upon: (1) fines for moving violations and No-Fire-Zone violations that can be paid off anytime, (2) fines for scan violations that turn into bounties if not paid within the timeout period, (3) bounties for assault that can be paid off after 8 to 10 min, (4) bounties for murder that can be paid off after a week.
