What's happened to Robigo?

Out of my own curiosity, what was it? I can literally think of no way to exploit a known game mechanic in this way. That's crazy.

If I had to guess: just taking all trade/smuggling missions, cancelling them all, selling the cargo at the black market, log to different mode and repeat. The obvious solution, if this was the problem, would be to have much harsher reputation penalties when doing so, and increase rep-demands for getting them.

It was worse than that... Over on Reddit somebody posted the exploit, a few days ago, that basically allows you to make 20-30 million an hour without ever leaving the station.

Now, that you mention it, I might now, what kind of technique it was. FD did not set punishments for failing the missions, did they?

CMDR's having " FUN - ENJOYING THEMSELFS " this must STOP !!! Frontier Developments Plc. we are watching ...

If your idea of 'fun' is sitting in a station, mode switching, cancelling missions and repeating that, then yeah: FD might have nerfed your fun. :p

Nothing's been nerfed. It just has lulls once in a while. Stop losing your wigs.

Yeah, missions persist for much longer now on the board, have done since 1.5 released.

But, I'm still in favour for a nerf. The credit potential compared to every other activity in the game is beyond silly.

Because humankind's hubris will always be its downfall... People just can't prevent themselves from bragging about how they discovered some new way to trick the game, and by doing so cast out a huge "nerf signal" into the sky.

Well, we could go the route of Anonymous. If someone wanted the exploit shut down, you would send a note to Support. Once that is thoroughly ignored, you post it out, so that the exploit gets traction - and more importantly, gets noticed by the devs. That usually results in a swift nerf hammering.

I don't mind a little whistle-blowing as long as it remains in the construct of the game (and its forums). I wish Anonymous could learn that too, instead of exposing the leak with persons sensitive information - credit cards, mainly.

Those using the exploit are free to do so, and really don't bother me, since I'm playing my own game, and not competing with them. I'm fine with taking the long grind, and for those that need an instant-rich button, that's fine too. Just don't expect it to last forever - enjoy it while you can.

I don't think it's just Rodigo that got done another system that I've been going to has had
a massive fall off with high end missions so it's back to the old trail route for me...

Fehu is what Robigo should have been.

one or two missions spawn here but no more than that and 5mill missions are rare.

Robigo in my opinion should never have spawned more than 2-3 at a time being an independent system and station.

I stack 5- 10 mill (3-4 missions at best) and it take me 2 hours round trip time between legitimately waiting in robigo by doing station to planet ferry missions whilst waiting on refreshes.

Definitely not a get rich quick scheme but it's the most fun I've had in ages with the interdictions and seeing more of the galaxy, on a side note I have gained at least 6 million in exploration data just bumbling around on these runs.

Oh crikey, chaps, sometimes you get a bad run.

In Empire space things seem to be exactly as they were, which is fine.

Quite honestly, the amount of gloating that happens here when something is "nerfed" is deeply unpleasant, not to say sanctimonious. As far as I can tell there has been no "nerf" to long range missions, shadow or otherwise. Just someone getting his knickers in a twist and posting online about it.

Half the voices here seem to advocate "nerfing" these missions, as the money is too easy.

Hahahahaha. Brilliant. Just look at all the threads complaining that these missions are "impossible". Which is it, forumites?

Apparently it shouldn't be allowed, this high profit stuff, unless you are trading in a super ship. Or so I read on these forums.

Well guess what, I have a super ship trader, the Cutter, and trading is easy peasy. Practically no risk whatsoever. Just easy, easy money.

They haven't "nerfed" anything. Good thing too.

Harumph.

Either way, surely you agree that people shouldn't become super-rich by intentionally failing as many missions as possible as fast as possible?

Gawd no! :)

Honestly, I spied that exploit but felt zero urge to use it. Elite is fun, to me, and I like to play games properly. That's just me.

I don't care either way about Robigo and people making tons and tons of moolah, go for it. I do care that the BGS is so broken that it will infinitely spawn the same mission types and never curb off...but I don't think anyone else cares that it's broken in this particular way....what do they call that? Hmmm...double something-or-other....what was it? Standard! That's right, it's a double standard!

My dream solution, make Robigo make sense (by fixing the BGS issue) and fix the BGS so we see more long range shadow deliveries mission in the bubble (it's a few hundred Ly across) now and then.

this I noticed it a while ago, but it didn't even occur to me to sit there and use it, that's as bad as charity mission spamming, i'd rather be flying that click spamming

I do not use mode switching. The game already lacks immersion enough without me resorting to gamey things like playing login bingo. Just pointed out that people who do use or find exploits or cheap tricks usually are the ones, because of their bragging, to bring the nerf hammer upon themselves. Anyway, if other players are doing it, it does not affect my game at all, so I really don't care. I honestly don't give a bling if someone else gets their Cutter in whatever days or hours.

I find that many ED players tend to mind way too much about how other players play their games. There's way too much small minded pettiness, too much "the other guy is making more money than me, nerf nerf nerf". The fact that each player's game barely has any impact (if any at all) on other players, makes this general pettiness even more ridiculous.

I really love how they're doing it under the guise of "looking out" for the players enganged in said activity.

"No really! It's for your own good! You'll appreciate your one ship that you could afford then lost because you didn't have the cash to pay the insurance more when you're not flying it because you lost it! You'll play the game longer!"

Like they have any idea who I am or what I'm playing for or what I want to accomplish in game.
