Only issue I have found so far is that I can't seem to find a way to assign the X1 and X2 buttons on each side of the space bar to favorite games. When I go to the settings section on the console as directed in the instruction booklet, I see no options for assigning the X1 and X2. ???
As said in another post apparently they currently do take screenshot/video in everything. I expect being able to assign them to certain other functions will possibly be something they will add later - particularly if the instruction booklet mentions it.

The official MS page has some small print stating that the ability to assign custom functions to the X1/X2 buttons is coming in 2016. Looks like it will be limited to assigning specific apps to be quick launched with those buttons rather than any in-game functions though.

Has ms and Amazon had a lovers tiff or something? Chatpad still listed as currently unavailable

Amazon UK was showing it as unavailable for a long time but now shows it as "available for pre-order" with a release date of 4th December. Very strange - MS must have been withholding stock so they could sell them through the XBox store.

I bought my wireless USB keyboard from Asda for a tenner... refuse to jump to Micro$ofts tune at the price they're asking for something that does nothing more than my 10 quid keyboard.

While it looks great I just cannot justify £30 for a keyboard that should be like £15 so I'll stick with the Rii mini for now :)

Great post though CMDR.

Yeah I know it's expensive but having something attached to the controller rather than a separate device is a big big win for me. I've got it on my Xmas list anyway, so it will be bought by someone who has no idea whether it's worth the price or not... :)

Ah! Well that explains why it doesn't work at the moment. ;)

Thanks for the info guys!

Only other thing I am still messing with is figuring out a good way to get the backlight to turn on without forcing a key input. If you touch any key, the backlight comes on, but it would be awesome if the game could somehow activate that light if you open up the text entry field on the Galaxy Map. When I play at night, I can't see anything on the pad until the backlight comes on.

I would also like to adjust how long it stays on for. So far, have not found any way to adjust that length of time. A little too short for my tastes as it sits out of the box.

I pre-ordered this thing back in July when it was first announced and promptly forgot all about it until it showed up on my doorstep tonight! lol!

Pleased to report that it fits perfectly onto my Elite Controller, and this thing is a wonderful and time saving addition for playing ED! Not only is the keyboard solid and full featured, it is also BACKLIT! One of the drawbacks to all the third party, cheapo ChatPads that are out there for the XB1.

Now when I need to punch in a new system destination, it takes me only a fraction of the time it took before using the controller and the clunky virtual keyboard! Since I play ED in the dark to enhance the immersion, having the backlit pad is awesome unlike those cheaper ChatPads that have been useless for me with ED in an unlit room at night.

Anyway.... Thought I would post this quickie product review. Far too many input features to get into here, but the keyboard on here does provide a bunch of one key short cut commands to various XB1 commands and commonly used navigational areas of the Dashboard.

VERY COOL in both function and FORM! It looks really slick attached to the already impressive Elite Controller body! In fact, with the ChatPad attached, the four under-paddles are less prone to being pushed by accident when you set the controller down on an uneven surface, such as the armrest of your gaming chair etc. It is also feather light, so it adds no perceptible additional weight to the controller.

Highly recommend! :D
I have one as well. I still like my keyboard.

I wanted to buy it aswell..

then somebody told me i can plug in a usb keyboard.. lol.. i had 4 spare keyboards.. so, i dont need it..

Besides, is there a "tab" button on the chatpad? since, with "TAB" you can select between local chat, wing chat, and private chat.

I use a wireless USB keyboard and I don't have problems with distance or anything. I sit about 10 feet from my Xbox and TV...maybe its the keyboard brand? I had a chatpad on some 360 controllers but I didn't like how bulky it felt.

Nah, no TAB button. I think i've seen people say there are some slash shortcuts for the same (/w for wing or /l for local), so I guess thats the short way around that issue.

Just popped into my local games shop on the way home now and picked one up! Lots of players text chatting last night and I just couldn't attempt to respond using the stick and on screen keyboard!

Should be better hopefully, if anyone's chatting to me tonight that is!?
