6 and 7 must be Atlas and Pleione

since Atlas is Bigger than Pleione

so
Atlas = 6
Pleione = 7

This is what I meant to say, don't know why I ended up typing 7/8...

like this twin site 1 is mining and the other like an industrial unit with a building looks like 2 porta cabins on top of each other.
electra 2 and coordinates are in picture

Not persistent.

Thanks Volgrand - I'll start checking systems tomorrow if people haven't found it by then!

Separately I wondered if as well as visually obvious landmarks there had been a consistent effort to check the poles of the various land able bodies?

Thirdly and finally, in terms of keeping tabs on how we are doing could we create some kind of spreadsheet with the planets separated into say 2 deg by 2 deg sections, then commanders tick 'em off when they have searched them? It is beyond my technical expertise but google docs might have a way?

I've checked a couple of poles but not consistently. Remember, the poles are not (0,0). I think maybe some people have been confusing that point.

It may or may not be useful, but Ratking and I had a good long chat about things on the live stream last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MYVTlfCHRM
One of the viewers suggested that the Large Barnacles could be some refinery/industrial complex for this techno-organic species?

Yeah and Tea and Trolling both start with the same letter RABBLE!!!

RABBLE!!!
RABBLE!!!
RABBLE!!!

Am I the only one getting pretty bored for looking for hours without any sign of success and any kind of new event besides everything I have already seen before? I mean... I've spent a lot of hours and not even anything close to a barnacle, a crashed ship or anything that Ive already seen 1000x times...

This needs more variable events or something new.

Number 9 coulb be HR 1172.
Sorry for the Resolution of Picture 2. The Problem is that Number 6 and 7 are not in the Position as in the Trailer Picture.

I searched most of the Merope landable planets a lot. One thing I noticed is that all off the moons are basically the same with no out of the ordinary surface features that could "guide" us towards that point on the surface.
The only thing that stands out are scared patches of the surface that are fun to fly through, but I didn't find anything and I visited at least 20 locations that are like that on different moons.
The planets that look a bit different are Merope 1A and 1B. They are a binary pair.
I don't know where to look anymore. There is no indication of which moon we should focus our efforts on. Maybe we are missing a clue.

Hey all,

Can someone please check something for me ? I think Ive found a persistent POI in a crashed NAV beacon... which seems suspicious...

Found it at lunch time and did the data cache scan thing etc but listening to it it sounds like someone's left a TV on inside it... BUT there is also a burble of simple morse too, I just shrugged and thought standard generic crashed nav beacon and logged off...

However Ive just re logged on hours later, spawned in my buggy and came across the exact same site with new Skimmers to pop etc.

Location is Merope 2D / 16.9338 / 141.8649

I might just be going Banana ! But it seems different espcially with the awful masking noise like a TV from next door turned up too loud...

Forgive me if its nout, o7

What Im thinking is, is this different and broadcasting info...

Btw in addition to using the "classified camera" (trollcam Mk.V) I suggest (if you're going to pursue the POI route) to set your scanner to linear instead of logarithmic that way your POIs stay constant in size and don't grow/shrink depending on your distance from them.. I did that and suddenly I can see all the wonderful tea and nav beacons us humans apparently managed to hurl over 200LY away from the bubble into this God forsaken place.

I'm getting quite salty.

(it's actually somewhat entertaining especially if you play with the Airwolf theme going on repeat)

Let's say that, as MB said, there are some manually placed ones in addition to the random ones - what would be then purpose of placing some manually?

To ensure that there will always be some that can be found.

And if they've been specifically placed to be found, as was referenced earlier, then there'll have to be some visual clue from orbit as to why we should investigate a given area.

In my opinion, the most likely reason for placing static ones by hand is so that the devs can look the barnacles up for testing in the live build. Then later, if enough time passes and still nobody wins the spawn lottery, they can introduce some in-game clues - a puzzle which would point to these coordinates. For now, to me it looks like they want us to try finding the "exceedingly rare" random spawns.

Yeah, a few suggested early on that we might be looking for an equivalent of the mining POIs, with things that we can shoot and then from which we can extract Meta-Alloys.

Logical it is, yes! :)

Nice! - will have to try that

I think the problem is that FD have given TOO MANY CLUES so we are always expecting to find them, whereas if they hadn't one day somebody would have accidentally stumbled upon them and... SURPRISE!

Could someone clarify this for me - we know that some barnacles are randomly generated and at least one has been manually inserted.

But what evidence do we have that the manually generated one(s) won't have a blue POI circle? I've seen suggestions that manually generated POIs have no such blue circle - is there some quote from a dev confirming that?

Kind of important, since I've spent all my time lately searching for these scanner contacts!

Quality!

Oh I'd love to be able to look over to the other acceleration couch and see Ernest Borgnine there!

Not too comfortable with being Jan Michael Vincent though; although sometimes my SRV driving is as good as his, on less alcohol too...

(Bad taste, I know - will remove if anyone's offended)

I don't think there is any real evidence either way ... but as i understand it ... the persistent wrecks (T9) dont generate a blue Circle .... so I have been looking for both visual and scanner POIs ...

If it seems persistent then I'd definitely advise recording the sound so we can have a listen and see if anything is different!
