Next ships?

I know there are a lot of other things FD is working on, but I can't see a whole year go without adding ships to a game about flying ships...

The game is more than just flying ships now. It's also driving SRVs and soon walking around in boots.

latest

I wouldn't get too attached to the concept art.

This is an Imperial Courier...<sigh>.

I think any modern space sims need at least 100 different playable ships not counting the variant (mk1/2 etc, imperial non imperial, and I'd argue that fds fgs fas are variants rather than different ships) especially if the game is planned to be developed over 10 years.

id also like to see some long range combat ships in the medium and large ship classes.

Yeah, a proper military spec asp, 2 medium and 2 large hardpoints. 25 Ly fit jumprange...that would be nice. Honestly if not for the poor maneuverability and poor armor and poor internals and poor shields the DBX has great hardpoints (for my taste), wrap those up in a better package, sell it to me for 20 million credits (an area sorely lacking in variety for non faction ships) and I'd be a happy customer. Restrict the pythons internals, drop the PP one class, give it a class 6 FSD but keep the hardpoints and sell it to me for 70 million, I'd also be terribly happy.
-
Ship selection goes from 6 million (Vulture/Asp) to 50 million (FDL/Python) for non faction locked ships....the only thing in the middle is the T7....that area could really use some love and a long range combat ship would hit the spot.

A combat ship to bridge the gap between the Vulture and the high-end combat ships (Clipper/FAS/FDL). In essence a ship that costs around 20-30 mil fully combat fit (Vulture is around 12m, FAS/Clipper around 75-90m, FDL around 120m).

A Multirole ship between the Asp Explorer and the Python, at around 50-70m fully fit.

Above everything, fixes for terribad ships. Make the Viper 3 and 4 actually maneuverable, as the fighters they're supposed to be (as in superior to the equivalent multirole ships). Make the Type 7 an actually better transport than the Clipper, which costs just a little bit more to fit for the same job and is far more durable and capable of evasion. Make the Federal Dropship and Gunship decent alternatives to the FAS, instead of ships that nobody uses unless they haven't tried a FAS yet for some unknown reason. And Jesus H. Christ, make the Cobra 4 not be a sitting duck incapable of using its hardpoints.

I can tell you exactly which ships will be next. Cobra mk V, viper mk V, imperial eagle mk II, etc... feel free to fill in the blanks yourself

First we already have the Eagle Mk II its the 'normal' Eagle. Anyways the rest of the coming ships will be unique. They already have concept art of at least the Dolphin, Beluga, Panther Clipper, and a very large ship seen in a planetary landing shot that does not have a name yet and it looks massive. The reason we got the variant ships was due to the kickstarter bonus.

Would be nice to see the FDL Eagle Mk.I, but that is juts me wanting to see that so we could have each variant aligned to the respective Faction

If we get passenger missions this season we should see the Dolphin and Beluga but that is an unknown.
Bigger ships were hinted at in one of the live streams so that suggested the Beluga and Panther, unless that was referring to the Corvette and Cutter

The game files have an entry for the "PG_Independent_Fighter"
PG_ seems to denote CQC ships might those might be then migrated to the main game for when fighters bays come usable

Rumor is beluga liner and phanter clipper is to come in season 2 , how true this is i cant say , atm its pure speculation.

Getting the Tiger decal i got as founder backer was to slap it on the phanter clipper as sole reson.

Larger stations that can accommodate larger ships.

Make them scarce so these borderline-capital class ships are not docked that often.

It was confirmed a few livestreams ago that we will be getting passenger missions and ships this expansion. As for some of those big trading ships this looks to be one of those ships that are going to be mail slot max ships.

And yeah the Eagle Mk I would be nice since it was the best of the bunch.

An increase and new ships are different things all together.
theres only three ships I'd say we're primed to recieve an increase in jump range.
The FDL, Type 9, and Corvette.
a bounty hunting ship, a long hauler, and a long range patrol craft.
im not sure what you're afraid of happening, it's not like the FSD wake scanner works on players that know how to evade pursuit.
flick through the higher end ships fit for combat looking for a diecent jump range and combat prowess. You will find yourself hovering over the conda.
The alternative and imo a better solution would be to just put a flat increase across the board. Sub 15 LY jumprange on multimillion credit ships are just a needless hinderance on gameplay.
Likely a good percentage of complaints about nothing to do in this game are due to the fact that it takes you half an hour just to get somewhere to do something.

Corvette's jump range is fine - sick of peeps whining it's too low, if you don't like its limitations use a Conda

Sorry have I offended you?
11LY jump range is not fine, I'm sick of people whining that it is. If you don't like it you can shove a conda up your mail slot.

I can't wait for the Beluga liner, I sure hope it looks as slick as the concept art. Love that design.
not really all that intrigued by the Panther clipper personally. I would be if we didn't already have the cutter, it being a trade ship and all...

The Federal Corvette also looked awesome on concept art, but it turned out to be a flying giant shoe... :)

I would also like to see the release of the passenger ships, but there's no point until there is passenger content.

I would like to see an exploration ship that was a step up from the Asp. Something the size / shape of an Imperial Clipper but with a large jump range.

In your opinion. It's wrong but still your opinion. :p

I have to agree with Troa; a combat ship meant to go on patrol shouldn't have a <40 LY range without extra fuel tanks. Like the Cutter it's a beautifully flawed ship that doesn't fulfil its description. Both ships need a rework.

Nope absolutely no offence here - just a smidge of amusement that you think "it's primed" to receive an alteration.
After all the people who programme and control the content this game didn't SPECIFICALLY have a low jump range applied to the Corvette, it was an error, a lapse of judgement, a sleight, an oversight - especially after all the pre release tests, beta trials and so on.

Good job it's "primed" - soon you can be rocking around with a 15ly range, no wait.............. Is 15ly not enough???
Let's call it 50ly and a free Cutter when you get there!

If it doesn't work out just post on here (over and over and over) and it will be magically brought into the game like it always should have been.
