Been killed too many times by pirates when trading, costing me millions in credits, just can't
be bothered with it anymore, it didn't used to be like that, dumped tonnes of cargo, still killed
me in solo mode. It's just happened way too often recently, and you play games for fun, but
that is not fun, wasting hours of time trading, only to lose all your credits being destroyed multiple
times, with there being absolutely nothing you can do about it.

I've spent well into three figures supporting this game in reality. It's a good game, but I can't think of anything
else to try in order to mitigate the risk of trading in my type 9. Just too frustrating.

So it's gone. I will check in sometime in the future to see if I feel like playing again.

This is not a please try and talk me into staying type thread, just me venting my frustration at the game.
I daresay there are others who feel the same, and others who feel differently, that is fine.

I will go listen to some Bowie ...:-(

Well you could try doing something else in the game or find some friends and ask them to give you an escort. You could also have chosen another ship.

;)

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be Heroes, just for one day

So many things you could have done differently, and still you blame the game.

Could have tried finding a different trade route, one between systems with high security levels.

Could have changed loadout, ship, profession even... if trading stops being fun, why not try anything else that the game has to offer?

I just don't understand ragequitting.

Ahh yes. That old problem, or should say new problem with the game. No saves in solo. Didn't really think about it until after installing Horizons. What made solo play so enjoyable was knowing you could save right before you did something that could cause you a lot of problems. Now all you have is problems, and no save to reload. Back in the mid-late '90s PC gamers would light up the forums with complaints about no save feature or the console version save feature that bleed into the PC games called checkpoints..... With the limited console hardware many of the PC game features were thrown aside, but now there is no excuse for these horrible save features they have in games when the console hardware has progressed enough to go beyond those old features. Problem with ED is the MP aspect..... makes it hard to save, then continue from where you left off.

Maybe one day they'll develop a real SP version and we'll have our save games back, but don't count on it. Not a horrible problem unless you keep thinking about.........gee whiz I wish I could have saved the game right before I made that stupid mistake. Time for a new SP approach.

Sorry to hear that you got fed up, it is quite unforgiving sometimes. Hope you come back again at some point.

I'm sorry for your loss. This is why you trade in Open, instead. In Open, the human pirates will listen to you and more often than not, be far more reasonable than the AI ones. Human pirates also attract bounty hunters, which hunt the AI pirates and wanted criminals making for a safer environment to trade in.

Please don't give up. Give Open a shot. Unlike the AI we're talkative and sometimes funny. :)

Try investing a bit in ship survivability (like not filling every single slot with cargo racks), like good shields, chaff, hull reinforcement, it will give you the extra time you might need to high wake out. Pay attention to the scanner, don't let suspicious ships get behind you, drop from supercruise if necessary or jump out of the syste and come back later. Try a safer route. Fly defensively.

There's piles of things you can do to make destruction highly unlikely. Just don't stuff every single slot with cargo racks, and ignore defensive equipment, and don't fly in a straight line at all times without paying attention to the other ships.

I see traders flying shieldless Type 9s to maximize profit. I see them seeking out dangerous systems with low security because profitable trade routes await them there. I see them get blown up by NPC interdictors and then...

try...

route...

over and over and over again...

Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

This... although you forgot the part where those same traders then blame the pirate NPC or Human for their plight.

Sure a pirate blew you up but how much of that was thanks to your choices

How exactly does one get destroyed by NPC pirates while trading?

No, really. I want to know. Hundreds of trade runs and I have never lost a trade ship. Okay, maybe that one time when I was trading in a Viper when I was but a Mostly Harmless newbie and got pulled over by an Anaconda and thought I could win.

Its a dangerous place out there... Sounds like you need to get yourself a Python for trading.. and maybe even work your way up to that Conda/Cutter, thats when pirates are about as effective as bugs bouncing off your windshield.

I'm guessing he doesnt know how to "high wake"? Or maybe he doesnt submit to the interdiction? Which means his FSD cool down is really high and he has to wait a very long time to high wake. Could also be that his ship is geared too much towards capacity and he doesnt have enough shielding/speed.

Either way i can see how getting killed constantly could become frustrating. Try taking my advice and you will be fine... submit to interdictions every time, this will greatly reduce your FSD cool down, and if you were interdicted by large ships, which "mass lock you" (slow down your FSD charge up rate) jump to another star as that type of jump is not effected by mass lock. In other words from the moment the interdiction starts to when you can actually jump, should take no more than 20 seconds, in which case you are almost impossible to kill even in a trade ship.

There are cmdrs still flying that piece of junk? No way you are boosting away from viper/clipper, best thing to do with a T9 is to sell it as junk and get a better ship.
