UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

Hello Commanders,

I recently made some reserch on the best way to look for the barnacles. My opinion is that they will not spawn in POI bat that they will be persistant ovbjects on the planet.
So i vent to the Orrere ( planet - 2b ) lat 43'0082, log -173,9983 where is the persistant big shipwreck of Anaconda. You can check it on You Tube where ObsidianAnt is talking about it and how to find it. Ok. to the point. It is vissible from around 9 km above but from that distance it has a size of maybe 2 brighter pixels. It's crealry visible from around 4 km above the ground, but to see the detailes You should be around 1,5 km above. When You are flying the cockpit in ASP is makeing it hard to see it. During the night it is almost impossible to see it (I hope the benacles would have those green light). MOST IMPORTENT - IT IS NOT visible during supercriuse even in low hight and in glide mode. The shipwreck itself is invisible to SRV scanner. Only his lost cargo is visible - the same might be the bernacles. Oh and when You are in normal flight mode it is visible in debug mode.
Hope it will help.

As long as they had a handy morse code to English translation sheet lying about and a list of all of our names for the star systems to be able to make sense of the outputs, of course.

Yeah I'm starting to get bored of the search.

Or they really are Thargoid, thats the thing that points to them being Thargoid the most to me, they know about us, they have learned of a lot to do with us, so it'd make sense.

Edit: Just seen MB's post. YAYYY MY 20+ HOURS IN MEROPE WERE A WASTE OF TIME!
bye.

Focus remains on merope... the pointing has me convinced too....

Merope 5 moons' orbit is somewhat perpendicular to the orbit of it's parent... None of them seem to eclipse with other bodies.
There must be a portion of each of these moons that always receives light from Merope.
Imagine if the growths themselves point to Merope or away from it.

There would be a region of each of these moons that is permanently bright/dark.
Here is an idea of what I mean... not too good at drawing.

Hi guys, maybe I'm wrong but yesterday I was in a wing and I've the feeling that the POIs spawned more frequently; it's just me or, exactly like SC with USS, being in a wing (or not alone) increases the probability of spotting POIs?

Never tried in a Wing, but if I set my scanner to max range I typically see 2 or 3 POIs at any given time - and have seen as many as 5. It'd actually be easier if there were fewer POIs, once they start overlapping it gets confusing!

Just looking at the comments - could it be that the Barnacles are like a disease, vermin or cancer that has destroyed a civilization that once lived in Merope and the UA's are the remenants/last resort of escaping the destruction (almost like time capsules)? Perhaps the Barnacles move with the nebula? By finding the Barnacles we could be opening Pandora's box.... ..... Someone find it :D

*sound of everyone jumping out of Merope*

Don't worry though - it's not like it will be a quick find still; I've been exclusively searching the "Pleiades" tagged systems in and around the nebula. Nothing more than what has been seen in Merope.

I've noticed that if I find a crashed nav beacon I can often find a 2nd one fairly close by. I'm starting to wonder if I can find a third to give a triangular area to search in. I'll check next time I'm on. Also the creepy background crunching/grinding noise seems louder to me around the beacons.

That is my main goal to search.

For your collective info, these are the systems in the Crescent Nebula that were permit locked in January 3301 (a year ago).

Crescent Sector BQ-Y d24
Crescent Sector BQ-Y d25
Crescent Sector BQ-Y d26
Crescent Sector DL-Y d26
Crescent Sector DL-Y d27
Crescent Sector DL-Y d29
Crescent Sector DL-Y d30
Crescent Sector DL-Y d32
Crescent Sector FW-W d1-24
Crescent Sector FW-W d1-25
Crescent Sector FW-W d1-26
Crescent Sector HR-W d1-28
Crescent Sector HR-W d1-29
Crescent Sector IH-V c2-10
Crescent Sector IH-V c2-11
Crescent Sector KC-V c2-10
Crescent Sector KC-V c2-11
Crescent Sector MI-S b4-0

They weren't limited to being strictly within the nebulosity, some of them were on the outside edges as well.

They were permit locked a year ago and now they aren't?

Too bad that area is just as huge as the Plejades but it's still weird. Or not?

Hey folks, I have a question. Have you enough slot to bring on board

SRV hangar
Module to land
the two type of scanners
shields
fuel scoope

Because my wing and i had to abandon our shields (and not the best for landing) in order to be able to take the other modules.

If you're on a budget the Viper Mk IV has good internals, should get all you need in there. Cobra Mk IV as well but not available to all (and I prefer the Viper for planetary stuff anyway).

There are a few moons that are not tide locked. And fewer that got the oposite rotation but same periode.
They won't stand still, do they?
Are there any that got no rotation at all?

Quick question: where's the closest outfitting service to Maia? I see a few inhabited systems about equidistant, but I wasn't sure if there's a well-known good outfitter in any of them. Let's just say that I may have made some very stupid decisions when I left the bubble.
