You're doing the Lord's work, good sir. Thank you very much for taking the role as the thread-master, and dealing with us crazy people :D

Yes, I know, it was a first thought. It really depends from which angle this is looked at. If you move around in the galaxy map, the Witchhead Nebula fits in. But I'd be surprised if its really this easy ;)

The other blurb could be pleiades. You know, where we all are. if you zoom out and rotate a bit it looks quite a bit like it. So maybe searching Pleiades->Witch Head->Barnard's Loop might be a nice idea...

Now that I think a little bit more about this, barnacles sure look like Zerg hatcheries!

Let's not metagame and forget about there not being models underground when we dive there by glitching through with the classified cam.

There is a central growth with logos on it. This suggests it is somehow manufactured or at least genetically engineered, if it's alive that is. These being alien mining operations make the most sense given that they are blooming refined substances all around. These things can refine the whole periodic table from the ground and the nebula gas around.

I suggest these are more than mere mining stations but the epitome of extractive metallurgy, which can not only selectively extract and classify every useful material in the game, they also can put them in their separate containers ready to be picked! They also can produce meta-alloys from these given enough time.

Me and another commander dropped an UA next to a Barnical and it appeared to absorb it, then grow a flower like structure, with little light blue wisps emanating from it like fire fly's! System was JC-U B32....

The Barnical was completely intact at the time... :)

Threw this thing together.

It's just something to mull over really..

The symbol, why a symbol? The only symbols we currently have are the faction symbols.

Aye it seems to resemble Barnacle Loop (formerly known as Barnard's Loop).

But could the fact there's a symbol imply they have factions too? I mean a symbol is kinda worthless unless it's put against another symbol.

I dunno, loads of stuff to think about.

Not in game, so can't check myself. What does Barnard's Loop (or the whole Orion Molecular Cloud Complex) look like when viewing from the Pleiades? Does it look more like the symbol?

is it possible that the logo is the view from the alien homeworld?

we know that it looks like a nebula but what if it is a combination/amalgamation of 3 nebulas viewed from a specific angle. Does anyone here have the skills to work this out?

Pics of said flower or didn't happen.

All you saying "I'm out" or "this thread is going too fast" I say read a book for once, I think its sad that a dozen or so pages with comments mostly being barely a sentence each little while has become too much for people. all new info is always updated on page 1 so if you are too lazy to go there, well nobody can help you.

tl;dr : read more
