I can confirm that the Anaconda wreck at 20.86 91.69 has also a Barnacle, but no spikes.

There are some containers, I don't know if they are standard, one says "Brewer Corp.", and it's red. Another one, yellow, says "Caine-Massey" and has the M03-1377 number.

I remember it was in the range of 350,000

I thought it was closer to $400K?

Also, someone posted a screen grab here of an "alternate" mission that appeared after he had harvested some Meta-Alloy, in which a System Security Officer was offering him double ($800+K) for the MA.

Anyone know how to get them to spawn in Solo/Private?

Rock up at the correct location. You can only see them less than 4kms in the air...they're nowhere near as big as a crashed Anaconda. Definitely visible 3.5kms above, completely invisible once you pass 4kms.

I visited one in Solo mode before work so I could give it a good kicking for being so hard to find.

I'm closing in at iowhail something something nebula and FYI that nebula has a lot of stars in it . If you want a system there to be scanned let someone who joins the canonn ts know so they can inform me and I will scan it , and be quick because I'm A : not intending to stay there very long
B : totally out of motivation to do investigations on barnacles because I feel I'm useless since the. Investigation is finished
let me know quickly before I leave the nebula

I'm at the correct coordinates and I'm less than 1km in the air. I've found one at the same coordinates in Open so I know where it's supposed to be, it's just not there. I know how to look for them, they just are not SPAWNING for me in Solo/Private.

I know whats going to happen since I logged out Tuesday night at the bottom of a canyon on Pleiades Sector HR-W D1-74 B 5, when I log in tonight there will be a damn Barney right in front of my ship, and five seconds later the wreckage of a dead Anaconda will crash down on my canopy.

They spawn no problem in solo. I had trouble with ordinary POIs but dropping to 500m in the general area and waiting a few seconds caused them to pop.

You could try turning your graphics down a bit and see if that helps.

They will spawn :)

The containers may not be static instance to instance. The wreck I found had three yellows that were showing strongly on the wave scanner. No sign of red containers.

There is no blue POI with these

I understand. I didn't clarify that the blue circle POIs comment was just a test on the spawn timer. I wasn't expecting it to be a barnacle cluster. It just seems to take a bit of time for the regular POIs to spawn in, and I was wondering if that characteristic was the same for the barnacles. If you're flying within visual range (or better at 200 - 400m), I would hope they would appear as I approach, and not spawn in after I've passed them.

Played around the galactic map. Barnard's loop and Pleiades look strikingly like the barnacle logo from some angle (with image flipped horizontally): http://imgur.com/14DZyf7

I sincerely hope it is not Barnard's loop, because it's so huge. It left me the impression you could fit the whole bubble into it.
Also I have to admit I am not too eager to encounter the Thargoids yet, because I still have nightmares from when they caught me unprepared in witchspace back then on my C64 :D
