2 SURFACE stations show up like no buy or sell price , and no demand or stock...

but you can still sell them... strange? hell yeah

maybe it's because they want us to sell to the space stations?

Weird, although a lot of other people in this thread have said selling them to stations might not be a good idea, look what happened with UA's after all

Played around the galactic map. Barnard's loop and Pleiades look strikingly like the barnacle logo from some angle (with image flipped horizontally):

Aye it's close, that sidey bit though? COuld that be another nebula somewhere far away?

there you go , the video!

That's really cool. I'd seen the waves of "smoke" + blue twinklies but it's so much clearer in that video.

The barnacle "smoke" is even doing the purple/green UA style pulsing.

Just logged out of game & I have a couple of observations before bed. Haven't got time to read the 50 pages (!!!!) posted since I last dipped into the thread about 4 hours ago so apologies if these are repeat of other posts.
The barnacles produce meta-alloys from the ripe "bud" on each of the two largest spikes. One of the smaller spikes produces Germanium & Yttrium, others appear to be more common materials - iron, sulphur, nickel, phosphorus... The ripe "buds" produce blue spores similar to (identical to?) those produced by the UAs. I had left my ship on the ground & got a message that it was under attack; returned & everything seems fine, but advise caution-I moved my ship further up the valley away from the spores..

When you shoot the spikes the UA seems to produce angry noises- my hypothesis is that the spikes may in fact be appendages produced by & attached to the barnacle itself. There may be trouble if/when it decides to open that orifice on the top of the shell!
Goodnight Cmdrs all!

OK I've managed to scrounge 8 meta-alloys: What do we do with them?
I'm gonna keep ahold of mine until I know what we're meant to do with them. 83k doesn't seem worth it considering how rare they are at the moment, and I'm not entirely sold on the "sell them to the station to fix them" thing after seeing what selling UAs (possibly) did.

That's an answer I can get behind. If it is unknown why *some* people cannot spawn them in solo then that is frustrating but I get it.

I don't react well to the answers ''Well I can see it so you can too'' lol

Little background story: the placey ou want to spawn is a persistent POI, which means its stored on FD servers. Some months ago someone here did a basic test, and checked his network activity in each mode. Turns out, when sitting by yourself in them middle of nowhere, that there is a lot of traffic in Open, some in Private Group (even when its a 1-man group) and quite a bit less in Solo. I suspect that this means connectivity issues become more problematic in Solo and at times you may be unable to load the data in Solo with the reduced connectivity to the FD servers. If your connection is fine, it still works (as is no doubt the idea behind it). If there is *something* wrong *somewhere* in the chain, you might fail. This might also explain why traders, who play more in Mobius/Solo, report more tech-isses with interdictions compared with combat cmdrs, who more often play in Open.

Just a hunch, but who knows.

Darn, i had exploring music on, will examine them again later with it off. seperate out the barnacle sounds from background music.

So if the barnacles are not all pointing at the star in the system like I originally observed then what are they pointing at? Or are they all random? I'd like to think they would point the way but I think our next clue is either in the symbol on it or something we haven't discovered yet.

It's a treasure hunt they're sending us on. Barnard's Loop should be the next place to search.

Well, he does say 'nebula' instead of 'nebulae'...

They're on a planet. They cant point at anything except their tidally locked parent/partner. ;)

The amount of time I've spent looking for those lights ! Those :):):):):):):) lights ... I can't believe it ... And at the end someone found it not by "science" but with luck ! Just pure god damn luck
so at the end there wasn't any " science " to be done first there was " luck and praying to rnjesus " to be done first

They're really not that visible in the dark. From 2km up you can barely see it even when you know it's there.

Finally off work so I can catch up and look at these things.... is there still the blockade at OO?

In case anyone was wondering - yes, the blockade is still on, just had to hiwake out of Maia as soon as I jumped in as a clipper was patrolling the jump in point.

I'm sure they aren't pointing anything in particular, as the planet rotate.

Re: The 'logo' on the Barnacle - the main part looks like Barnard's Loop, but the 2 blobs to the side do not. I would look for a location where 3 different nebulae form into that pattern.

Well.. except that the top end of some of them have pointed out into space. Someone a few pages back showed it pointing to a distant star system. The one on the condo planet pointed to the system star that it's not tidal locked to.
