UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

I was just saying that i don't know why someone wouldn't take their galaxy / system / nebulae as a logo, since in SF we did it a lot, even in the game look at the federation's logo : our solar system.
Quoting someone earlier with a show exemple.

Imagine humanity finally unite under on and single faction all across our universe, why wouldn't they take our galaxy as logo ( a bit stylized through )?

I could be wrong, not saying the contrary ^^
Got it. Seems we are on the same page :)

Which is also the same thing that makes it useless to us as a clue to the origin of the barnacreators.

I'm open to the symbol representing the LMC but B-Loop is also a good candidate, and if you turn off all star types and routes in the galaxy map and have a good look at a few nebulae, you can make a case for quite a few, including the Pleiades from certain perspectives and that is the point.

If the symbol represents the LMC then it is a dead end until further developments.
If it represents a specific nebula or set of them, then we have some way of figuring out the origin by getting the orientation of nebulae just right to pinpoint a location.

All very valid points.

We have several possibilities for "lines" defined by a couple of points. One point is almost certainly Merope or another Pleiades site where barnacles have been found. Barnard's Loop is another potential point, as is the LMC (which is the direction I'll be pursuing) but I'd say there's nothing wrong with any of us exploring the direction from which the Pleiades nebula matches the "logo" profile best either. Or any other correlation they find. I'm betting that it's along one of those lines we'll find the next clue. We may not have spotted the "correct" line yet either. Right now we have little to choose between them so we have to look down them all. If we see any galnet reports of the good doctors research findings or discover a "line" that passes through another nebula where we discover barnacles, or.. (you get the point) that will serve as a focus. However, right now we need to be fanning out in all possible directions.

ETA: and, as an added bonus will get the stupid pewpew merchants off our backs.

Sorry but it's only a rock, I've already confirmed it yesterday.. There's nothing inside the Barnacle.
However, even the recent Galnet Posts are making direct connections between Barnacle and UA. What do weee need more? MB to tell you?

The Purrs are not only similar: they are exactly the same.

I agree that most evidence suggests a connection (still in my mind it is still most likely). However, I did think of an alternative reason the purrs could be the same; perhaps the UAs are attempting to communicate with all forms of life they encounter.

Totally agree they're idiots.

But to say, just make sure you dock at Obsidian Orbital, aye it's a pain getting back but losing a few grand on an SRV and spawning 10LY away isn't the end of the world.

Sure . It's nothing. It doesn't affect me other than the fact that it blows my mind how those people are so deliberately trying to :):):):) with people's experience. And how huge is the hypocrisy of tolerating people abusing others in game and then "protecting them from any kind of abuse " on the forums.

If that's not encouraging it then... anyway.

No, I don't give a :):):):). But maybe next time I want to have a good time I won't come in ED or I'll play solo or I'll avoid any kind of community event that might attract little scumbags (so all of them) .

The search for the barnacles was nice. To bad ordinary idiots :):):):) this game up.

I mean, this is just a guess.. but If something owns these and they're curious about intelligence other than their own, then maybe they left it as a way of saying

"Hey any other sentient life out there! Want to meet up? We're over here from where you found our organic alloy factory!"

Be careful at Merope 5 the barnacle is only visible in open..................

I can say that the Merope 5 is visible in group and solo play, just seems to be not appearing sometimes for some people.

Well, as I already pointed on the Frontpage, there is no morse in the Barnacle's audio.

But the Purrs are exactly the same sound of a free floater UA, and I liked very much bitstorm analysis here:

Right now his thoughts are my thoughts.

So what is needed then? Longer recordings to get more 1's and 0's to atucally get some code to use?

Oh also from my visit to the barnicle here's a little bit of my thoughts on it though in more detail on the Canonn forums and this is very speculative: I think that the barnicles are UA’s that have landed on the planet surface and dug it’self down into the ground to harvest specific minerials and use them to make meta alloys and take to the surface to be harvested and the meta alloys are used to create ships and the left over minerials are for FSD fuel.

has anyone succesfully taken a mission for the meta alloys? I reffered to the initial post and try 4 systems, each stations, and never found it... any idea?

The mission is incredibly rare, I spent a lot of time on surface outposts before it appeared (I actually got it twice in the end). If you keep looking it will show up eventually but it is probably the rarest mission around at the moment.

For me I just went to federation systems and every time I didn't find the Strange Alloys mission I accepted any surface rescue missions I found and did those (to help rank up with the federation and they pay best for time spent out of most surface missions) and then when I turned them in looked again until it showed up.

Now that one has been found, can you be a little more candid with your responses?

What other nebulae are they found in? And is Lagoon nebula one of those nebulae?
I'm afraid not - the nebula that they can be found in relates to their origin and I can't talk about that.

Michael
So what is he really saying?
  • they are located in a nebula
  • the nebula gives a clue where they originate from. They - the BAs or the aliens that dropped the BAs?
  • Aliens - then from outside our galaxy OR part of our galaxy?
  • the logo is or is not a clue?

Any chance that if thargoids their origin is mentioned in the lore?
@Drew ?

so sad =/ i'll try again. so it is on the planet, not on station right? just to be sur =p

David Braben replied recently ( I believe it was the Horizon's launch livestream) to a question about whether we'll ever get access to other galaxies, he said no. Our own galaxy in game is already supremely massive, with whole sectors locked off for future content.

So it's probably safe to assume that the barnacles have nothing to do with the Magellanic Clouds.
thats not what he said he said we can generate more but since this galaxy is massive already I would say no so this means in the future we might get other galaxies as well because let's face it who doesn't wanna visit the andromeda ?!

Well, seeing as there seems to be some sort of collective amnesia regarding "Thargoids" in our galaxy, this image of a "thargon" (whatever they are) was recovered from an old 21st Century archive. They said all our history would be lost to the digital age! What do they know?
Obviously historical archives aren't kept anymore, best I could find regarding "Thargoids" was reference to them being a "legend" in an old Galnet post about Alien Artefacts (not UA) and some band. I'm sure they are quite nice really. If they exist.

Interesting to be sure...

PS...I have a vague memory of having sold one of these once, but then some dude in a black suit flashed a light in my face and...I just have this blur in my head now

If you want to learn about Thargoids:

Search for 'THE THARGOIDS - TRUTH AND FICTION' (several articles).

New Barnacle Site - Pleione 11A

In open and finally I scored my 1st find.

It's at 2.3189, 177.2434 according to my SRV's coords @ ground zero.

Definitely we're not in Kansas anymore stuff going on here.
