UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

I have found another one at Pleione 11A at 0.8248, 176.5619 - followed a tip from few pages back in this thread (2.3189, 177.2434), but this one is at slightly different coordinates.
I met another CMDR already there, we had a little chat before he left the site untouched and left me to poke around.

My own observations/thoughts:
- I was able to get five Meta-Alloys (three and two per "ripe/large flower" spike) instead of Max two/spike as stated by the thread summary - anyone else seen this?
- Do barnacles always show up in deep valleys?

So, I guess everybody knows about the sound? Looks like we need to refresh the Close encounters of the third kind and the communication system. Is there any thread about it ?

https://soundcloud.com/volgrand/bar.../sets/elite-dangerous-barnacle-sound-analysis

Already did some on the sets of sounds from the UAs. Sped up 5x, you can hear the keyboard preset of a "brass" section. The tones are perfect 5ths of 3 different scales: EbMaj, Emaj & FMaj. The sense I got out of all that was that I'd discovered the way the sound-guy made the tones :D The Morse is a better bet.

This is a confirmation of the one on the frontpage, found in this post: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=222049&p=3428881&viewfull=1#post3428881

Much appreciated Commander, we're registering these as confirmations, which is quite useful for us.

I'm seeing the barnacles at night for the first time... just noticed that the "mature" pods that hold the meta-alloys are emitting spooky gaseous stuff and little glowing particles just like the main central pod.

So I've been listening to the barnacle for a bit now with my headphones on. And the rumbling sound doesn't come from the barnacle itself. I think the noise it's making is it refining the materials its gathering and the thunder noise is one of the spires "growing"

If I use the cam and look straight down on the barnacle the rumble will sometimes be stronger in the left ear and sometimes stronger in the right ear, but the "music" noise is always dead center.

One other Question is also: did we think to complicated over that? On the dark side was also such a one from the trailer and the we found was the complete opposite of this theory. I don't want to know how many search only on the dark side. I know one that search for one planet that was completely dark and get less as possible light. ;)

So I don't know if Frontier think that wide that they hide a message behind the Sound of all this Alien artefacts. But on the other side... we don't know it for sure. I self didn't think it is that complicated. Also that we get another tip at the GalNet looks like we didn't must find more Barnacles. It could only be that more makes it easier to find the next goal.

Gents, until Rizal wakes up here's an updated intermediate list, 2-decimal precision. Some are still duplicates, however you should be able to spot these yourselves. Depending on the planet size, 1 to 2 decimals needs to be used to determine if it's a duplicate.

I agree that the spires are growing, as I was observing the barnacle it did seem that the spires were slowly... Very slowly getting larger. I cannot comment on the different sound directions though.

What? you want to see my dark side?

So are the average temperatures they appear in a fairly consistent range? What about gravity pull?

Well, as I already pointed on the Frontpage, there is no morse in the Barnacle's audio.

But the Purrs are exactly the same sound of a free floater UA, and I liked very much bitstorm analysis here:

Right now his thoughts are my thoughts.

I tried to get someone here interested in the musical part of the purrs. They are in perfect [pythogorean] 5ths [intervals] and run 3 scales, advancing 1 half-tone in further iterations [Eb, Emaj & Fmaj]. The base note of the scale is followed by a perfect 5th; sometimes each tone is repeated 2-3x, from base tone to 5th. This would give you your 1s and 0s in musical notation.

0 - base tone
1 - 5th (seven semitones between)

or

0-0-0-1-0-1-1

at no time are there any other intervals than the perfect 5th. Each set (scale) runs 7 times, then it goes up a half-step.

And yes, this was how the music sequence was done in Close Encounters, because the intervals are strictly mathematical and would be recognized by most thinking species, just as the periodic table of elements or algebraic equasions would have cross-species meanings. That's why we sent music along with the data on Voyager's Gold Record.

Might have been said already, but I watched a the original Barnacle respawn, or regrow it's tendrils after they were depleted. I wasn't in on the harvesting, was hovering above it at the time in my ship. But from the COMMS chatter it looked like everyone saw the same thing.

I mean only the first one that was found, so it's now clear that it doesn't matter if bright or dark side of a planet. ;)

By the way, nice picture. :)

Yes I knew what what you mean and i agree. I just wanted to show the screen I just make =p

But yeah we may have over thinking. Pure luck was the main requirement it seems.

UAs and barnacles have got human fingerprints all over them - morse code and logos.

I have been saying this since I got involved with the Cannon... as to a previous post of mine (about musical intonation in the purrs), why would an alien race use Morse, or even know what it was because Morse is an alphabetic cypher and wouldn't give much clue as to "words" or "sentence-construction." They'd either use mathematics, the periodic table of elements or other common mathematics (like music?) as a Rosetta Stone to reach across cultural, linguistic or alien gulfs; math is math no matter what names are attached to the parts of it.

So my guess is that the UAs have some humanity about their origins... unless the Thargoids got us to explain (when we were finally allied) Morse code to them...

What if WE had barnacles in our origins? =p
Seriously with all the probe we've been sending to space (even one with luke's lightsaber if i remember well), i'm sure anyone picking it car learn a few things about us... But you have a point nonetheless.
Not long ago, Federation wanted to shut down all the Prof Palin research. They do seem to have something to hide. What did they :):):):)up this time ?
