UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

Bear with me, I'm donning the tinfoil.

Thargoids know what we are and where we are. If these things are Thargoid related then the stealthy industrial complex they are building worries me.

Im not convinced they are Thargoid related however. The question is still valid though. If the marking on the barnacles is a property mark as some believe then it would indicate the concept of ownership. It's somewhat strange that the UA don't have any such markings though. If a sentient race with a concept of ownership sent them then why didn't the check for other life before setting up facilities. A lot of ppl say our intervention with these creatures will cause a war. I'd say that mining resources in someone else's back yard might result in the same.

(bear in mind I believe UA and barnacles are connected)

So, an alien race sends probes out to some potentially rich mining areas (for them). Those probes start encountering oddities (us) who move them, destroy them, travel with them through the Galaxy etc. The probes emit a sound, one element of which is the morse for the system they are in. As time goes by this behaviour changes and the probes and the probes scan for what is near them. The key point here is that their behaviour changes, across all UA, and it appears to change in response to us. my conclusion is that the controlling species saw what was going on and wanted more info. They did not change the message though. They didn't want us to know more. Now they send mining organisms to areas they know are populated by another species. People say we might cause a war, I'm pretty convinced it's coming anyway.

It's not like FD have given us any other way to interact with things aside from shoot them or scan them. I sat next to one for an hour and a half this morning but nothing interesting happened.

I had a nice long discussion with one the other night about the philosophy of life, number of white mice needed to desgin FD (we decided on 44 & a half), the application of the scientific method to analysing 400 pages of repetitive blurb (how best to extract the nuggets of information contained therein without skipping every 9 pages & potentially missing some useful stuff) and the meaning of the symbol on the barnacles neck; however I think that must have touched on a personal point because it ended in a stony silence
;)

I would like to say 'thank you FD' for this great game and this amazing story with the Uas, barnacles and all this stuff. Better than in a movie. No other game can produce such a fantastic athmosphere (great looling, creepy moments on planets, interdictions through other players). Keep up this great work!

So, anyone else spotted the spiral in the spikes?

Next time Im in game I plan to outfit a ship and head out to test a theory. But If anyone out there already wants to take a crack at it, I was thinking about the symbol and the broken message. It said, or seemed to say something about binary planets at a range of about 23Ly from OO. Using the symbol as a guide are there any systems with binary planets 23Ly distance in the direction of the LMC or the loop (depending on which you favor for the symbol)?

Or are there any nebulae in a line from Morope to the LMC/B Loop? I am thinking its not so much a symbol of "this is where we come from" but more "look in this direction".

So I've been looking at that logo and the Loop... I'm not convinced it IS a stylised representation of Bernard's. There's too much missing IMO, and I think it bears more a resemblance to Pleiades than Bernard's.

IMO of course.

Spiral.. as in a spiral milky way galaxy? points on a map? (though there should only be two main arms not three)

Just talking/writing out loud here, but perhaps that white plot is the rogue one (so is of consequence) as the other two are mirrored.

Like I say, just adding to the mystery with my ramblings ;)

Word from @Galnet_France is it was another CMDR who produced the image - they're trying to track them down so we can give Kudos. ;)

My first thought was galaxy too, although there are lots of spirals in nature, so could be a feature of the 'growth'.

Gents, until Rizal wakes up here's an updated intermediate list, 2-decimal precision. Some are still duplicates, however you should be able to spot these yourselves. Depending on the planet size, 1 to 2 decimals needs to be used to determine if it's a duplicate.

We still love to get a post here as well, we link up your posts to the registrations for later reference on what you found.

FP updated with spreadsheet link and locations.
I will add the list of the affected stations later, if someone can help me with an updated list could be nice.

BUT REMEMBER: you cannot heal shut down stations cause lack of commodities market.
For them I'm foreseeing a CG.

It's not much (I don't have much time, need help!), but we're trying to build a public repo of research, guides, notes and galleries etc over on the site. For everything science-related.

For example, I've taken Locastan's excellent research paper (at his permission) and added it to the Barnacle research notes topic:

http://canonn.science/science-handbook/large-barnacles/barnacle-research-notes/

Please could anyone interested in helping to build this get in touch with me.

I know, I know - why don't I do it? I'm worked off my feet at the moment!

Its nice to finally get to see some today after searching all last weekend, It is however slightly annoying that when I switch to solo they dont show at all which potentially means I spent the whole of last weekend searching and wouldn't have seen them at all. Anyway a couple of pics from open showing how busy the sites are today.

Do FD acknowledge there is a problem with Solo mode?

I have been saying this since I got involved with the Cannon... as to a previous post of mine (about musical intonation in the purrs), why would an alien race use Morse, or even know what it was because Morse is an alphabetic cypher and wouldn't give much clue as to "words" or "sentence-construction." They'd either use mathematics, the periodic table of elements or other common mathematics (like music?) as a Rosetta Stone to reach across cultural, linguistic or alien gulfs; math is math no matter what names are attached to the parts of it.

So my guess is that the UAs have some humanity about their origins... unless the Thargoids got us to explain (when we were finally allied) Morse code to them...

I think you are missing all the Crashed Nav Beacons scattered in the most improbable places of the galaxy ;)
'They' could have learnt morse and alphabet from them. Real life Voyagers have morse as well.

You could express your dissatisfaction here : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=222440

Tell Frontier what you think.

I feel sad lol, my internet must be so bad, even on Merope 5C I never saw anybody there, one person turned up but either logged out or crashed and that was it.
