UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

Just more musings about the connection between the UA's and the Barnacles. Has it been mentioned that the markings on the UA's may represent the lifecycle of the Barnacles from seeding at the top down through landing, tendrils seeking out minerals and then growing into the spires?

Possibly seeded from the pods on the UA's? This may explain why the eat through ships holds. They are in fact digesting it?

I just logged in and got attacked by two Cutters.

Well I can pop on in an Anaconda but, it's 2 combat Cutters plus a FAS. They're probably used to PvP too. Once they had a bead on me they had me down really quickly. They have some PA in the mix I think.

Ok that was weird I just had an UA out between the yellow crates and it just disappeared, no poof of dust, no noise, nothing just gone!
 
But haven't they lost their RP justification for shooting on sight with the meta-alloys apparently helping the station? What could possibly be motivating them?

The fact that they are quite fundamentally broken in every concievable way would be my best guess.

Just thinking, there are 2 sets of 3 crates, barnacles have 3 spiral arms, maybe they were planting them or packing them up and someone came along and found em and killed them. There is no damage to the crates, maybe they weren't on board yet

I give up, I've gone in and out of Solo/Open in both SRV & Ship for 30mins but cannot see the Barnacles at all. I see others in Open so I know I'm in the right spot, shame this is broken like it is when it's quite a major part of the game. :(
 
And what if the symbol on the barnacle wasn't Barnard's Loop at all ? What if it was something bigger ? I'm not even myself sure of this theory, but that's what it is, just a theory... What if it was the map of the futur Thargoid Empire ? Or the barnacle colonised space ? Look at it when I supperposed it whit the galaxy map, with the core and the pleiades nebula inside the zone : (and the reversed map also, maybe their map is from our bottom, we don't know)

These were some of my thoughts too, however considering another approach, has anyone considered this to be a galaxy map of territories? I wasn't able to find a top-down view online so a patched one together. Pleiades and even barnard's loop fit right in to the section outlined from the logo.

I feel like these should get more attention.

Has anyone realized that the human occupied bubble is right in the center of the "southernmost" blob on the galactic map? I like the idea of this being some sort of galactic map of territories. Perhaps we can get the Distant Worlds expeditions to take a look for Barnacles when they're on their travels?

I've seen a lot of speculation as to where the barnacles may come from, but what about this...


Why do they glow green?

Someone had extended Cherenkov Radiation as a possibility. Radio-luminescence does seem like a pretty good reason.

There's so many that I doubt anyone wants to commit to keeping up with them all. Also the tin-foil is strong with many of them, so where do you make the cutoff point between "viable" and "waste of time"?

Make sure you file a bug report / post in the bug thread on the forum. FD really need to get this bug fixed first thing next week.
