Sorry, my mispelling: I was referring to the Taurus Dark Nebula!
I know you meant the nebula, but it's tiny with no stars inside.
The Nebula itself is not that far from the shell and we know now that being inside the nebula is not that important.

The Barnacles appear to be mining materials and then using them to create meta-alloys.
Meta-alloys have been used to cure Obsidian Orbital of whatever the UA's did to it after experiments were conducted with them there.
Yeah - What's up with the Tea Plantations so far out in the cold?
What else is a English gentleman going to drink whilst 65,000 light years from Sol?
1). Any choice is the right choice.
2). We have no proof that these structures are thargoids or even the same 'type' of thargoid that we have encounted in the past.
3). The way I live my life is well.. up to me.
4). Attacks on peaceful trading ships of peaceful commanders (say my current commanders great grand parent reincarnated in my current commander) in the original game were mindless attacks against uninvolved non-military personnel. And therefore I am completely entitled to bear a grudge. Just because I am the same race as the people that started the war does not mean that I started the original war or that I'm responsible for it. I am an individual.
5). We need something interesting to start happening in the universe.
1. Nonsense.
2. All the more reason to exercise caution.
3. Yes, but with great power comes great responsibility.
4. An interesting point. Thargoids have shown evidence of possessing a 'hive' mind, thus they may not have seen it the same way. It's possible they do now appreciate there can be distinctions between individual humans, but that's a major assumption on your part. You are dealing with aliens who do not share our societial constructs, or perhaps even the concept of individuality.
5. Not the most compelling justification for war I've come across.
Cheers,
Drew.
Interesting. I do hope that there will be sides to be taken when it comes to that point. To jump in on this. The Devs did say that how "we" dealt with the first encounters would decide how the future goes.
So in effect, people deciding they want Pew Pew will effectively decide it for the rest of us without so much as a by your leave.
All there is for certain so far is listed on the first few posts on Page 1, it's updated with time.Is there some kind of record of what kind of info these barnacles are giving us? from what I know, they make sound, and flash lights basically, and if this mystery is like the last one, the answer will be coded into either the flashes, or the sounds, or that symbol on the side or something like that.
I ask this because it's difficult to actually get any kind of overview just by reading this thread. There are a lot of good ideas here, but actually sifting through it to find out what we know and what we don't is tough. Is there anyone who's actually just collected data like, how often the lights flash, what colors they flash, or if they change color and how often. also the sounds, like the notes it's playing, the intervals between different noises and so on?

I just tried to sell some Meta-alloys at Li Qing Jao station, Sol. They won't give me a cent for them despite their technical issues! I find this difficult to believe considering that they must surely be aware of meta-alloys and their ability to apparently "fix" whatever issues they're having. Pfft.
On to the next station nearby.
Cure it ? or feed the UA's with what they where looking for ? I Wonder.
I would not be surprised if Obsidiant Orbital started to emit strange sounds and get wired spikes growths...
Ok, maybe someone already found this out, but I just sped up my video of barnacle noises x4, and from my perspective there is definitely a code in there in the form of different notes. When listening at normal speed, the barnacles emit what sounds to me like deep purrs every 20 sec or so. those deep purrs when sped up by 4 times are obviously different frequencies, just listen in my video, it sounds like a tuba playing short different notes. I haven't figured out which notes exactly, but they are different notes for sure and they are very evenly spaced.
