We dont even know if the piece of the puzzle is actually in the game yet or if it's waiting for patch 2.1 or some background switch to be thrown to be in the game at a point determined by frontier. I know some people like to think that the looking is part of the game (even if there's nothing to look for). Me personally... I'd like to know if there's something to look for other than more identical barnacles that do nothing. The longer it goes on that nobody says that there's something to look for.. the more it makes me think that it's not in the game yet
I don't agree with saying there's nothing to lose by saying 'yes there's more to look for' All it does is encourage more people to ask for more hints all the time.
This all reminds me of the situation with the original UA's and the attempts to decode their sounds following Michael's "have you tried listening to them" comment.
At the time I posted a poll ...
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=143103
The result was pretty much a 50/50 split on whether people wanted FD to tell us what the deal was. I'm guessing that won't have changed much. Some people will want to know more while others won't.
Me? I've changed my position somewhat since that original post and think FD's silence and the ongoing mystery until the next big reveal (whether injected by FD or discovered by the community) is OK.
From my perspective I want things to be discovered rather than announced. That can't always be avoided - especially with people nosing through game files! Sometimes a nudge is needed to move things along, but I'd like to keep that to a minimum.

OK what the heck is going on with Palin? You slag him off and then he pops up on Galnet. https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/56a0efd59657ba7d3461ba05 and in it he asks for the Meta-Alloys to be delivered to his "new research base at Obsidian Orbital"
So it appears I wasted all that time over Christmas as he can't even be bothered to build the damn research outpost.

Hi Michael, that's good to hear that you want things discovered.
I myself am a little reluctant to go searching again for new things that may get hinted at after the issues (bugs) discovered with Barnacles.
Is it possible to thoroughly test the next 'thing' to ensure that there are no bugs or issues that may lead to people missing 'things' due to a bug?

Not the same thing. I'm not asking for a hint. I'm asking for confirmation that they actually coded the next part and that we have something to look for.

So, taking meta-alloys to Obsidian Orbital is now a community goal?

That'd be my interpretation of the Galnet article - 'Bring MAs to OO - get rewarded'.
I'm not in-game to verify

Michael:
Have you considered some sort of signal to indicate that there is something else to be discovered?
I think this community could benefit from a simple confirmation that there is more to the UA story - or any story that warrants our efforts, rather than wonder if our time is being wasted.
An example:
You have a stickied post:
Unknown Discoveries: Yes (Or you could provide a numerical value)
Antares Story: No
UA story: Yes
Barnacles/Metal Alloys: No
etc...
So, taking meta-alloys to Obsidian Orbital is now a community goal?
Plz, fix Robigo first..![]()
Just thought people might like to know that Obsidian orbital and meta alloys is now a CG
