I appreciate that it can be frustrating when your submission isn’t published. One of your stories included a thread about Zemina Torval refusing to help the Sitakapa system, and since we generally discourage people from ascribing specific actions to Powerplay characters, it’s likely that’s why that particular story wasn’t chosen for publication. Beyond that, the best advice I can give is to refer to the submission guidelines at the top of this thread.
Appreciate the feedback Ian, thanks. I'm surprised the reference to Torval is problematic, since there had been several published player articles doing this, in my opinion at least. At the time I was a Patreus supporter though Sitakapa was still home and, well, I guess you had to be there.

Thanks @ Starcloak also.

Title: The goals of the Alliance, a daily reality for its members
Location(s): Gateway, Alioth, Wolf 406
Date: Immediate/Whenever convenient

Description:

Shortly after the latest Parliamentary conference of the member systems of the Alliance, Victoria Wolf VI, First Merchantress of Wolf 406 Transport & Co, was available for an interview on the general side of affairs in the Alliance of Independent Systems:

"Our Prime Minister doesn't have it easy. Every week we observe our partner systems suffer heavy amounts of attacks from both the Federation and the Empire. Every week is a reminder to us on why the Alliance was originally formed; in order to allow for Independent Systems to prosper while remaining autonomous. These powers don't tolerate prosperity, it's an indication of their own sociopolitical structures failing and crumbling under their twisted pursuits of profit and authority. The biggest threat to them is the truth, the truth that outside their jurisdiction exist communities where their citizens don't have to worry whether their children will end up in slavery or welfare military service.
And yet, neither is willing to admit their attacks towards the Alliance. Both point their finger towards each other, trying to enlist us in their own quarrels. For two superpowers which regularly shun our naval structure and take pride in their own, there is quite a lack of confidence when it comes to facing a counter from the Council of Admirals.
Nevertheless, it's the responsibility of every member system and the commanders under their service to continue to persevere for the sake of the people. Doing anything less would be inexcusable."

Title: Archon Delaine, War on three fronts
location: Archon Delaine Space
Date: Immediate

This week the Kumo Crew have been pulling triple shifts in an effort to repulse the force of Denton Patreus, A Lavigny-Duval and Aishling Duval. With the majority of Archon Delaine territory being targeted , the Kumo crew have had to dig in deep.
Archon Delaine has put a general recall to all pilots to help re-enforce his holdings but as much as they did, the enemy forces moved from system to system undermining all systems in the wake. When pressed for a comment a senior advisor to comment he said “Archon Delaine is pleased the other factions in the area of the galaxy now see the kumo crew as a real threat and have worked together against him”
With all the effort that is being put in to the undermining of Archon Delaine territory, it is still to be seen if they finally fall into turmoil.

Title: Fastest pilot in the galaxy breaks the 8 hour barrier to Sagittarius A*
Date: ASAP
Location: global

Celebrated Buckyball champion Cmdr Alot has achieved the impossible and broken the 8 hour barrier for a trip from Sol to Sagittarius A* in his ship Rhonda the Anaconda. He originally set off on the afternoon of 23.01.3302 but failed in his first attempt to set a sub-8 hour record by just 6 seconds! Unfazed and stating simply "tomorrow morning, I am going back out there to do it RIGHT", Alot grabbed a few hours sleep, did a "Rusti-flick" back to Sol and set off again just 6 hours later, this time completing the 25,900 light year journey in just 7 hours 56 minutes 41 seconds. He reported his success in typical matter-of-fact style at 2pm on 24.01.3302 with the comment "That's. More. Like it.".

No stranger to the Sagittarius A* Buckyball challenge, Cmdr Alot has made the trip on no fewer than seven previous occasions, more or less dominating the number one slot since first wrestling it away from the original record holder, Cmdr Anuranium, back in April 3301 when he completed the run in 11 hours 46 minutes.

As tributes from fellow Buckyball pilots currently engaged in the "Turbo Hour" race taking place around the Kanwar Horizons air show continue to pour in, it's rumoured that the "fastest pilot in the galaxy" will be taking a well earned break from the cockpit but hopes to catch up with the Distant Worlds expedition later in the year. My guess is that it won't take him very long to do so!

'Little Gem' Nebula Finally Reached By Intrepid Explorer

- Description

In a written statement just submitted to GalNet News, Commander Virgil Kyle has informed the galaxy that his friend (and fellow member of the political group known as the 'Children of Liberty') Commander Darius Torkalar has been the first to visit the distant 'Little Gem' Nebula.

The report states that, "In this modern era of space exploration, which has seen so many monumental achievements in just the past year alone, there remain very few local, named nebulae that have yet to be visited by mankind." The statement goes on to explain that, "due to the jump distances involved, the 'Little Gem' planetary nebula, along with the Wolf-Rayet star at its core, was previously unvisitable, even with the best frameshift drive technology currently available. However, with the recent innovations involving temporary boosting of frameshift drive jump ranges, the system is now reachable, albeit only with stripped-down Anacondas and Asp Explorers fitted to achieve near-maximum jump ranges. Even with such a vessel, the highest level of jump range boosting is needed to reach the remote system."

Kyle's press release noted that Commander Torkalar's ship, the exploration-fitted Anaconda Texas, also holds the distinction of being the first Anaconda-class vessel to visit Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. Kyle's report finished with a call for intrepid explorers everywhere to start using the new frameshift drive boosting technology to visit previously unreachable star systems and stellar phenomena across the galaxy. "Nothing notable was ever achieved by playing it safe," comments Commander Kyle, "So get out there and reach for those stars!"

In a follow-up interview with GalNet News later in the day, Commander Torkalar added to Kyle's report, saying that, "After Commander Kyle and I were 'pipped at the post' to the Bow-Tie Nebula by just a few hours, I was determined to reach the Little Gem Nebula and be first back with the data. Once again, the Texas was more than up to the task. Time for us to share a Lavian Brandy, I think!"

Sorry for the late response, but is there any way this can be posted in the galaxy-wide Galnet? Something like this would be particularly interesting to explorers, so it seems a little silly to only post it in the starport news of the three faction capital systems at the center of the inhabited bubble, an area many explorers (including myself!) visit quite rarely. Also, it should be noted that all three of these systems require special permits to visit, something which would restrict the potential visibility of the article even further.

By the way, this criticism also goes for all the other exploration-themed/generally interesting articles which are posted into similar obscurity...

Ian, can you provide some feedback on what implications there were on the latest submission? It is a matter of structure, anything that could be easily changed and re-submitted?

I don't think I'm breaching any of the guidelines, Mahon and the Council are barely mentioned and no statements or actions are attributed to them, all the statements are from our own representative. I feel like the points made are very much representative of what's happening in game, on top of being motivational towards an Alliance commander, since it has a witty mention of the navies, the attacks Mahon suffer, the goals most of us have in the game, yada, yada, so would like some input to get this to work if possible.

Thanks for publishing (and featuring in the launcher!). Shame it had to be edited down, oh and you've introduced a few mistakes ...

Commander Alot has made the trip no fewer seven times

"on no fewer THAN" ... and while we're at it, it should be "seven PREVIOUS occasions" (eight in total)

since first wresting it away from the original record holder

"first WRESTLING it away"

Any chance of fixing those? My name's against it and I went to a lot of trouble to get my original word perfect. Don't worry if it's too late but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks again.

since first wresting it away from the original record holder

"first WRESTLING it away"

For what it's worth, wresting is actually the correct term here, it's just that nearly everybody tends to confuse it with wrestling because they can sometimes be used in similar contexts. :)

Something like this would be particularly interesting to explorers

The issue is that republishing your story on galaxy-wide GalNet would be unfair to those who might have preferred galaxy-wide publication but received only local publication. We will however keep your points in mind when reviewing future submissions, particularly ones focusing on exploration.

Title: Anaidni Oversees Renewed PBSF Growth In Neto and Wolf 1509
Location: Neto system; Wolf 1509 system
Time: ASAP

Description:

Captain Anaidni, head of the Pixel Bandits Security Force within Neto and Wolf 1509, has announced to local media today that he is happy to see the influx of new recruits to the PBSF as its membership expands within the home systems. Many pilots having left on R&R to the nearby Ark island have returned, bringing more fresh recruits with them.

The PBSF has had a presence in Neto for the past 176 years, since their formation in 3125, and though often seen their reclusive leader ‘cap’ Anaidni is rarely seen, instead leaving day to day running to the Owsla high Council. Many believe this is due to war wounds suffered in the Neto revolution of 3300, just two short years ago. Many of the citizens who took part in the revolution bear their scars with pride, but we may have to wait a little longer to see ‘Cap’ in the flesh once more.

Title: Positive Outlook for Kekenk
System: Kekenk
Date: ASAP
The Kekenk Herald
Description:
The Achenar Empire sent well wishes (via remote hologram) to the outlying systems today.
“The Empire is proud of its far-flung systems for standing up and joining in the fight to protect themselves from the vicious pirate dogs of Archon Delaine and his Kumo Crew. We start the new year victorious but vigilant against them. The Pegasi Pirate War continues, for Delaine still exists. It is only thru sacrifice that we will achieve security. Every system, every person must do their part. We know the pirate attacks have done their damage, but the Achenar Empire will see this thru.”
Following this rousing speech business-man and philanthropist Malkovich Vane, added the following:
“I am a 7th generation settler of Kekenk. This is my home! I am committed to seeing it rebuild and grow. As such I am proud to announce my latest business venture- BlueSun Corporation. BlueSun will specialize in cargo transport, trade, and rare item acquisitions. I want to turn Kekenk into a trade center like no other, bringing jobs, prosperity and stability to the system. BLueSun has opened its doors in Paola Station. If you want it. We have it!”

...And, as CMDR Corrigendum has already said, the swift and personalized feedback is very much appreciated :) Thanks!
