Purely randon thought, but just imagine if the Thargoids/Aliens show up in human ships, and the purpose of the UA was to allow them to get our designs.

Well, a very cheap way to avoid building new assets for alien ships, dear Obsidian Ant!
All this has been so long and drawn out (longer than a bad story line in a British soap), I completely lost any interest over a year ago.
Endless repetition of speculation. FD hint at whatever, people run around looking for something that's not even in the game yet, not until FD then add it at some point.
Really would prefer FD would fix all the broken things that they have added rather than keep dragging this type of story line out.
It would be great if more players were able to get involved rather than just the lucky cult following for the few that don't have instancing issues and can actually see barnacles or whose SRV's don't keep exploding. That's if the increasing server issues (occurrence and length) allow you to even play.

this makes mroe sense, why would thargoids use human symbols on their ships? we haven't even managed to have a common writing synbolic on our own planet. Expecting an Alien race to use the exact same symbols is too unlikely to make sense.

Or, like the best Sci fi from the 60's, the aliens (alien ships in this case) look like us (ours) so that FDEV doesn't have to design 30 new ship types.

So a dbx is 10km from a station, reads as a dbx on scanners but doesn't respond and flies away... Another dbx is found out of fuel and speeds off way above normal speed without a word...
Seems to me either a new dbx made for speed (unlikely)
A new ship wearing some alterations to look like a dbx (similar to rl car manufacturers) (unlikely)
An agency with connections to dbx manufacturer looking into oo/ua story. (My favorite)
Or aliens not only broadcasting our identifying comms and scanner images but also taking/displaying the frame of a dbx to make first contact. (Leading theory?)

What would be even worse...what if SI refers to Sirius Industries and they've "invented" a device that automates the flying of a ship? Now I'm really scared...this could lead to drones carrying out bulletin board missions and not leaving any for me!
(However, I agree that knowing the outfitting, faction and cargo holdings of any future sightings would be a very helpful step to working out what this all means)
