I just wounder. Have anyone tryed to take a Unknown Artefact and jettison in outside or at an Barnacle site? Maybe they just want to be togheter, or rather maybee somthing would happen??? :D

Found an Unknown Artefact in MEL 22 SECTOR ON-T C3-5 A

If they have somthing to do with eachother trying to bring them togheter would be a good idea... or bad... anyways, somthing we should try? Have it been done before? :)

CMDR Engalo

Do you really think nobody did it already, like the first 10 minutes after the first Barnacle was discovered? ;)
Nice picture anyway!

Actually if I remember correctly, we were talking about the barnacles long before they were found and bringing UAs to them was a given. We were looking for the barnacles with UAs in our holds to see if they would somehow make them appear, dropping one on the other was the first thing ever to be tried :D

Hello commanders.

I have found barnacles close to small poi which represents mining facilities in canyons .... The poi is different one then normal... It's always small circle.

Watch out for those and search area nearby and you will most likely find barnacle close by

That sounds very interesting. Do you remember the system and planet? Maybe even some coordinates? Or screenshot ;)

The first one was a while ago.... So can't exactly remember.

The second was on anaconda planet.

If you head towards barnacle near anaconda and go over de riche there is one more canyon. I was flying high and at night . Saw this small poi and descended . Saw the lights on aproch... And when I got closer I saw also licht from barnacle .... It was about 1- 1,5 km away from it.

Maybe it's just random... Don't know... So will be good if more commanders confirm this.

It happened to me twice now that I have seen barnacles near such mining poi

Are your sensors set to logarithmic or linear? If affects how those poi circles are displayed.

Cdr Cernan, who I wing with on occasions, found that type of mining facility on a canyon on one of the Pleiades Sector moons; Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 I believe though it may have been the other one. I remember he said the POI circle was very small: I vividly remember the mining site 'cos it was dark & going up & down extremely bumpy canyon sides in the SRV with a couple of glow worms for headlights was a nauseating experience. But sorry I don't think I took a screenshot (will try & remember to check when I get home)

Edit: Just remembered- it *was* the Anaconda planet 'cos that's where I went after visiting the mining fac

Can't remember now. Will report once I get home.

Though I start thinking more and more that it has connection .

Basically barnacle is mining facility how it's looks now. So as Michael said... When you at rigth place you definitely will find them.

So the question is ... How you know that you are in rigth place?

I beleave this could be answer.... Once you find canyon with poi for mining facility's it could be rigth place to search for barnacles .

Will try to run more test tonight if lucky

That's correct. Those mining facility's are very small dots.... You can't mistaken when you see one... It will be 100% mining facility once you decent

Don't know if I should post this here, but I guess I'll give this thing a go.

Last night, I had just SC'd out of obsidian orbital when a 'salvageable wreckage' node popped up. So I decide to investigate and when I dropped out I saw what looked like a vapor trail (from a ship's engines) and wreckage of a... Something? I don't know how to explain it, the broken pieces of whatever it was were blackish/silver and wouldn't fit together in any known configuration of our current ships. It looked really strange.

Anyway, I could just be nuts and this has already been deemed irrelevant and this post doesn't have a point... But oh well!

You almost caught an UA-Barnacle ship in the act of scavenging metal from a wreck.

And I imagine you didn't take a screenshot of the wreckage..? I haven't dropped in at a wreck site in ages, but are they not mostly just blackish/silver mangled parts of some long lost ship (occasionally you might see the Gutamaya logo). Though to be fair I've never seen a ship leaving a wreck site, another thing to add to the list to check :)

The vapor trail seems to be "random". Sometimes you drop to an unidentified signal source and that's all you find.

I found a weak signal source in orbit in Maia heading for the planetary outpost. When I tried to drop in "safe disengage ready", it just dropped me in plain space. Nothing to see there.
Probably just random stuff noone bothered with for some time.

So, spent the last evening (3hrs) in Alioth checking all signal sources i came across. No luck with mysterious ships. If that guy was really only looking for attention i have wasted my time there anyway. Going to check Nganji now too, but i somehow doubt that it's this easy.

I spent a couple of hours in Nganji a couple of days ago, but didn't find anything. An extra pair of eyes never hurts though ;)

ok as we know or do not know in this case with s6:7 rendering the the 6th sister planet 7? thing what it we've got it all wrong and s6:7 is actually co-ords of how the thargoids have mapped the milky way I.e sector 6 : 7nth quadrant or something like that. anyone know if the map can be seen in this sort of way? or an just grabbing at straws here

For what it's worth - the last two Salvageable Wreckage sites I visited last night, had a "rescue ship" in attendance (painted in the rescue colors) scooping up the last salvageable material and telling me it had completed its task. That's probably what was seen (or the end of it). I think it's now necessary to get into those sites faster if you want to explore them - the challenge appears to have been increased if my experience was anything to go by.

or maybe it could just be a simple reference to a day like maybe September 6 and 7 or possibly a season/month as in summer 6:7 being June and July, could someone possibly have a look into this one as it could maybe reference a major event in the past that happened during those months or days in September (I imagine it would be in-game dates too) or possibly there could a link the myths/legends, ancient gods if any of the dates are some how connected to them or possible the S could simply mean a system beginning with S? but I doubt that last bit

I bring my cat too, 'cockpit furball', she's absolutely nuts for hour long fruitless searches, so that's even 2 eyes more :)
On a serious note, i wonder if and how these events are triggered. Disregarding that AA allegedly might have triggered the mysterious ships scan run on OO by refueling (serious doubts now) Sx -x, I'm not sure those ships can actually be found. Could be just some dressing for the story-line and the real clues are still with the barnie sites. Anyways, i'll roam Nganji for a bit, maybe there's space mermaids or something that makes it worth it.

Ok, to throw some science back into the mix while apparently strange things are a happening. The Barnacles have been discovered and Harvested by any and sundry for quite a few weeks now. However something that has not been tested and would be very hard to implement would be the long term protection and observation of a Barnacle. If every CMDR that finds a Barny shoots and mines it then we just may be shooting the science in the foot so to speak.

We need a Barny National Park so that :
a) the Barny can possibly evolve into its next phase. (we already know it grows back its spikes, however does it go further than that if left alone and observed.) Oooh Science.
b) whoever owns these things or planted them may also be harvesting them behind our backs. If this truly is a living organism then they SHOULD be getting bigger or maturing, or even shooting out little UA's. But they are not. All the Barny's are around the same size which either means they are new to the areas found or they are at the limit of their life cycle.

Just some ideas that may move the mystery deeper. o7
