And your irony bypass.

I'm more than confident they don't need us to tell them how woeful the stations defences are at present. I'm certain this will be addressed moving forward.

I am sure it will .. however one thing I do know is that the more tickets there are for a "problem" from different commanders the more likely that problem will be raised in priority. Standard helpdesk stuff - one person with an issue is not really a problem (unless it's the CEO :D) ... however 100s of people all ticketing about the same thing raises the profile of said problem.

That aside, if you don't raise a ticket then technically you were just ganking people for the sport of it, and your secondary objective (comms) could be seen as an excuse.

Same goes for all those killed in this "experiment" - raise a ticket and tell FD what was going on and how you felt.

You may, or may not, have access to the Alpha forum in which one of the Devs (I think it was Sandro - could be wrong) said that right now _anything_ goes in Alpha .. _anything_ at all .. the more you can do to break / cheat / abuse / grief now is allowed as they are not going to impose any rules - they are not going to stop anyone because that is what an Alpha is for .. it's a partial release of the game with bugs to which the Devs are looking to see what works well; what works sometimes; and what doesn't work at all, and fix it in due course.
I'm glad you posted this because this is exactly what I was thinking. Isn't alpha testing the BEST time to try out exploits, find ways of griefing other players and generally find all the issues that are going to cause problems when the game is released? A lot of the time when you talk about exploits in the hypothetical design stage the answer will be that it will have to be tested in alpha and/or beta to see if it really will be a problem. Well now the testing stage is here I think it's essential that people DO try to exploit the mechanics of the game without fear of action from in-game moderation.

Agreed.... BUT it still takes a certain "type" of person.... ;)

Hey thanks a bunch for this thread.
I now have 4 extra Cmdrs on my KOS hit list.

Just to let you know that I got infected...and err...it's caused slight memory loss. After a few minutes I forget who I have just killed. The side effect of this is the fact that I am prone to constantly attack the same targets on my KOS hit list regardless of where they are, what they're doing or if I've just killed them. Doc says this could last for months.

So, CMDR AK785, CMDR HanSolo, CMDR Maxim, CMDR Lobottomie...if it seems that I repeatedly kill you at all over the next few months I would just like you to know that I can't help it.

I think you guys could have achieved (not sure thats the right word) the same effect during the Miners vs Pirates event that Gen-Han-Solo announced, but without ing so many people off.

It didn't bother me particularly, but I can understand why many people we hacked off.

On the other hand, Liqua reiterated the point that anything goes in Alpha. Even in the final game, the devs have said on more than one occasion that psychotic behavior is acceptable, as it takes all types to make a universe.

+1 ;)

Well at least it is known before release now.

But I agree people who do something that obviously would not normally be allowed just because the game happens to not have in place the means to police it can get annoying.

I once played the multiplayer motorcycle game on the original xbox and a lot of the tracks had people driving the wrong way on them on purpose, which destroyed the gameplay for the others.

If you mean an inquisitive mind then I agree - not everyone has the ability to look at a game and think "how can I break it". Someone in the Alpha forum tried to land on the landing pad upside down - would you have thought of doing that ?

It was the: "join our TS server, or die" type of attitude that rattled my cage tbh. ;)

No, actually, you need help with reading skills... everyone is saying that this is alpha, any TS server or no server is your choice.. but those who are willing to be targets for "anything goes" style alphas testing, are the ones who lack the ability to work together in ANY manner and will need to find their own work-arounds for not teaming up..

"I can attack anyone at any time, just like everyone else"

* Remember that the game still features NPC response and consequences in the crime system
* Remember that you can still create private/solo groups

"There are some areas of the galaxy where I cannot be attacked by other players"

* This would likely be based around system security (in a highly secure system weapons systems would be blocked and we'd have to modify collision rules)

"I can move between one of two groups: a PvE group or a PVP group"

* This would effectively be splitting the user base
* You could move between the two groups at will
* Any private groups would be sub groups of your chosen group

"I must pick and stay in one of two groups: a PvE group or a PVP group"

* This would effectively be splitting the user base
* The choice would be on a per character basis
* Any private groups would be sub groups of your chosen group

"I cannot attack anyone else, and they can't attack me"

* This is effectively co-op only play

Luckily Han Solo destroyed my ship.

I was likely infected when opening a cannister I had picked up, this moldy spongy stuff had begin to grow in all the corners in my ship (I like to keep it on the humid side).

I had jumped back to Zelada in an attempt to clean my ship up and upon jumping in I saw a bounty on some fella and almost killed him (maybe I did kill him not sure) when Han Solo blew me up and then the game crashed.

Good times. :)

I wonder how many Devs were watching this on their (probably) one day off?
I guess the tickets kind of tell the story but hard to imagine they will pour over the data dumps to see all that is of relevance to game development (but I could be wrong -again)
