In short... I believe in a system or game where anyone or everyone who affects that galaxy, all be in the same instance.
Otherwise, it's simply to me.

That is entirely up to you. Of course, until every player has gigabit full-duplex secured fibre to the PC, with a FD provided UPS, and a FD provided PC, and a FD provided power company, and an FD provided watchman looking over your shoulder ready to shoot you if you even looked like you were going to hit the reset button, and absolutely massive server farms provided by FD to host everybody, and FD provided intercontinental fibre channels to link every pool of players together at acceptable latencies, all for free!

That has nothing to do with what he means. He's talking about Player A, B, and C.

Player A plays in Open, B in a PG, and C in Solo.

Player A, B and C all affect the BGS.

Player A, B and C all affect PP.

I think what he finds stupid is that; let's say Player B is backing Lavigny in PowerPlay, and Player A want's to stop Player B from expanding in Omicron Persei 8 (i know i know). He can't! Player A and B (and C for that matter) are never going to be in the same "shard" together so you can't attempt to stop people from invading systems etc.

In Powerplay you might get alerted that a system in the power you back is in Turmoil! due to other players invading it and undermining or something else equally naughty. If Player B and his PG are all "invading" this system there is nothing you can do to stop them.

It really is a mistake on FDs part imo. There should be different BGS's and Powerplay for each "shard" since you cannot impede other players from changing it.

Oh really? ;)

Are you going to personally pay for the development and maintenance of all these separate BGS's?

How? There are no shards. What he wants is a PvP answer to his problem. There isn't one...by design. It's not a 'mistake'. It's an answer to the problem of how can everyone have identical inputs into the game regardless of who they play with or what platform they play on.

People might not like it because they cannot punch someone in the face...but that does not make the idea a mistake.

Unless you still believe this is a Direct PvP game.

Sure, they can take it out of what I would have spent on making a PvE Open shard :)

There is no cost involved in that. All it would take is a opt-out tickbox and a one byte change to a local file.

There are more brutal ways of doing so of course, but those tend to make the seal-clubbers cry.

There are shards (well i don't know what exactly to call them, I was only using that word because I was quoting someone who did). Open, PG, and Solo are all different "shards", but all affect the same BGS / PP.

And if you are punching someone in the face in a system that you are attacking to take over, hell yeah I should be able to retaliate. It makes the BGS and PP totally stupid and a giant waste of time and effort on FDs part.

Let's not start talking about what would cost what because none of us know. Also I'm not calling you a Care-Bear so please stop being rude and calling anyone against a Open PvE Seal-clubbers, it's ignorant and childish.

What does that even mean? lol

They are disconnected versions of the same game and all affect the same background sim and PowerPlay, which if you haven't noticed is a giant war to control the bubble.

How can they be disconnected if they all affect the same background sim? I am really sorry, but I cannot see your logic here.

Because the only way they are connected is via the BGS, which is stupid.

In what way?

The BGS determines the progression of the game, for those who choose to pay attention to it and participate. You are free to completely ignore it and do other things. Getting into a RAEG over xbox players fiddling with your favourite system isn't going to get you anywhere - all you can do is try to fiddle it back.

And you can't even shoot them in the face.

Ok you win. I'll just uninstall and play CoD with the rest of the people against the Open PvE shard -- ooops I mean us Seal Clubbers!

I believe there are quite a number of single/persistent world MMOs out there, all of them with players with different kind of connections ranging from 10MB cable to 1GB fiber. It has nothing to do with the game developers providing any kind of connections to the players. Don't be silly and make exaggerations like that.

Indeed there are - I remember playing persistent Neverwinter Nights worlds on modem.
