Powerplay Faction: Aisling Duval The Prismatic Imperium

As the Prismatic Imperium grows, I think it's important to look back and ask why it's important.

The 13th Legion, The People's Media and the Navigator's Guild are the three pillars of The Prismatic Imperium (Sight, Vigor and Mind) and they feed off of and reinforce one another.

For me there are two main reasons for the Imperium's existence. One is for the roleplayers. The Prismatic Imperium has a lore, it has a foundation and a purpose. It was forged from Aisling Duval players who rallied around the cause of standing out from the Imperial Crowd as opposing slavery. It organically grew out of a group of like-minded people who decided to do more than be satisfied with the scraps of lore funnelled to us from Frontier in regards to Aisling and her agenda. We took it and made it our own. We do it through story. We do it through action. And for the last few months and in the future, we hope to do it through Community Goals working with Frontier (we've had three in the works since October, but these things take time).

The second reason is one of strength through diversity. Not everyone who joins the Prismatic Imperium directly feels the need to continously play Power Play. The 13th Legion was originally a PvE group mainly directed at combat in the aid of Power Play, whether through undermining or the odd PvP encounter. The PvP eventually became the thing the 13th were very good at. And Nightshady has grown it superbly as well as expanded it to the whole Empire whilst keeping ties to the Prismatic. The People's Media, the brain-child of Kevin Massey gives the more talented writers and artists as well as those who're interested in story a place to put their energies. The People's Media is in some ways the smallest of our groups, but generates lore and through that a sense of community as we all belong together in the story that is the Prismatic Imperium. We hope to see The People's Media grow to tell the story of all the Empire, whilst keeping it's feet planted firmly on Cubeo as we reform the Empire from within, not impose our beliefs from without. The Navigator's Guild has always been out 'catch all' group, for mining, explorers, scientists. In the future I think it may become the biggest, small as it's started out. The future of Elite: Dangerous shows that these particular groups, particularly explorers and scientists have a part to play in the future of the game.

All three pillars offer different opportunities to different players in a way that holds us together. As a community I'm proud to be part of and a High Council I sincerely call friends. All three pillars for me are necessary and important parts of the whole that is the Prismatic Imperium, that takes its own identity from those same pillars. All three draw strength from each other, the 13th and the Navigator's Guild feed the People's Media, in turn their Media spreads the fame of the 13th and the Navigator's. The Navigator's research and explore, which in turn (especially when Engineer's comes in) can feed back to the 13th. The 13th can and do support Navigator operations.

The Prismatic Imperium offers something different from most of the Power Play groups that arose. Every group and it's split-off has it's own Minor Faction these days. But only ours has the strength of three groups behind it, each important and contributing to the whole.

May I ask, Prismatic Imperium is canon? Their description is in the Cubeo info in game.

We're canon. We're a player-run minor faction. We also have a CG this week! (Freeing the Slaves). And I wrote the description in-game when we were accepted. It needs to be fixed though, some things changed.
