Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

I had that one, including the fact that it shows 100% on scans.

It started when I logged out on a planet and logged back in. Did it happen that way for you?

((And I never got to test repairing that ship because I boosted backwards into a crater wall while trying to take off in reverse. Don't ask...))

I logged out on planets for the first dozen sessions in this expedition (thinking it would be better as a fixed position) rather than nowhere in space, with no 99% hull issue. Several of my dirtside screenshots in this thread are from right before I logged out for the night, for example.

I didn't notice exactly when it happened, but I think it was during a play session in which I landed twice and took off. Noticed in space before I logged out for the evening. Landings were OK, but I didn't think to check again if my ship had taken a ding upon coming back to get me.... and for that matter I don't recall if I dismissed my ship at all or not.

My main concern is that if I take two more phantom-dings then I'm in the range for spontaneous SRV exploding. I've dragged my Python's hull halfway across the bubble held together with bondo and bubblegum, and if there is a decay-rate in the works then I'd be getting home with my hull in the low 90's or high 80's%. I have two SRVs which isn't a lot of leeway for funky hull decay leading to bugged kerbooms.

Here's one from the past.....it's been 9 month since i did my trip to Sag A* & back, & Im heading in towards WP10.

Maybe I got lost in all hype of Distant Worlds, but suddenly during last night's play it hit me hard!

My route planner suddenly went from plotting 300-400LY routes without 'hanging' down to only letting me plot 60LYs at a time.....BOY! does that bring back the memories!....Happy Route Plotting peeps!

This thread is helpful with plotting long routes close to the Core: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=151389&page=6&highlight=route+formula

Try an calculate your max jump range X the amount of jump you wanna plot at once and then plot between that and -1LY.
With that lesson I was still able to plot 4jumps ahead straight into Sag. A.

Learned that on from the forums via TS this weekend.

Iv just done the calcs from the initial OP's thread & Iv just got a jump plotted for 330Lys (took about a minute to plot it out). Still needs tweaking a little but Iv got all my numbers now so i can adjust slightly. The plot will keep me going for a while.....ONWARDS MY TRUSTY Asp....YEEEEEHAAAAW!!

Unfortunately I am working "in the field" in RL for the next three days so will miss the meet ups, I shall do Waypoints 10 and 11 tonight, and see you all at Waypoint 12 at the weekend. I shall wear a hair shirt and celice for the rest of the week for breaking with the fleet and rushing ahead.

I think I've encountered a strange bug.

My ship and SRV are both at 99% health now.

I've not had any rough landings with my ship, or anything that at all grinded on the shields at all. I've had several landings, but all of them with drop rate in the one or two box range of neutral, and all in proper terrain.

My SRV won't accept an SRV repair to get back to 100%. Nor does it repair when I return to the ship.

It reminds me, more than anything, of the repair bug we had for a while where you could always spend 10cr on repairs, even at full health. (As I type this out, I wonder if it's related to the 97% boom bug on SRVs.)

Has anybody else had this? Should I ticket this or keep on trucking?

I had something similar. I hit a planet and was thrown out of supercruise, since then my ship would show 99 % hull while in the ship. Other players would also see my ship having 99 % hull. Whenever I would deploy SRV it would also show 99 % hull and I couldn't repair it, but when I targeted my ship from SRV, I would see my ship having 100 % hull. Then I had another accident and now I'm at 98 % ship hull and SRV is back to 100 % when deployed.

I believe it has something to do with rounding errors and even though you see your SRV at 99 % it is actually at full hp. Similar discrepancy can be seen while fuel scooping. You can see for example 50 % heat next to radar but 51 % heat up there with fuel scoop progress.

Ok, 35% of the outbound trip are done,
this morning I slide-to-snooze White Dwarves over my alarm clock display ;)

Thought I have to worry about damage to my hull or PP, not to my brain, but well :D

I only have a GT 740m in my laptop, so I'm driving at max 15fps on planets. Maybe low fps has something to do with it. I do prefer driving on high g worlds on mostly flat terrain (tumbling at 12fps isn't fun). I've never used the extra strength repair though, always do a basic repair when I reach 95%.

That is interesting - my graphics card is reasonably good but I was getting such dreadful FPS on planets that I turned the settings down quite low so as to get a smooth ride.

Hello cmdrs
We are following the adventure in open with a friend. Any way we can sign in ?
Our current position is a bit past the core, mapping a SCHEAU nebula atm.

Am pretty stressed out. Have this strange feeling in the chest. I was doing great till the middle of last week when I had to go out of town.

Now I'm at WP7 and the rest of the fleet is way ahead near the core. Think I may miss the meet at the core :(

Anyway, starting off...

Well, it looks like a lot of people are making a beeline for WP11 and skipping 10 (the blue marker is my location at WP10 and the line of green friendlist icons stretches from WP11 to WP9). I can understand the sentiment, the core is a big attraction and the stop for WP10 seems a bit unnecessary given that WP11 is so close, but the little planet that's been picked is beautiful!
