I got bored hanging around Sagittarius A, so I decided to get as high as I ever have...

I went the opposite way, 2943 ly below. Currently traveling the nearly 5.8k ly to reach the top. Might see you there.

About 85 degree fov shot with Andromeda hanging above me, or technically below and I'm flying upside down. This one is the 'right' way up.

Great place to view the Magellanic clouds on a planet 2902 ly below

The trip was a good opportunity to get a close up of Andromeda with M32 at the bottom and the Triangulum galaxy

Both as seen from here

Not a view you expect to see at night:

About last night...

Honestly guys, I gotta say. Before this trip started, before Horizons dropped. I was at a bit of a lull as far as ED was concerned. If it wasn't for JJHell buying me horizons for my bday. I wouldn't be apart of this trip at all. Even when I signed up I didn't expect it to be this awesome, I myself deep down inside, doubted I'd make it this far; Let alone to the end (barring terrible terrible damage ((knock on wood))) Thus far, just meeting up at the waypoints, and chilling with fellow CMDRS has been most fun I've had playing a video game, in a long time.

I was tired, and almost didn't even log on last night, but JJhell sent me a screener of what was going down at Sag A. So I hoofed it, and made it with a bit of time to spare to hop in the sweet sweet star, and the consequent jump post star.

I've echoed this in every reddit thread I've chimed into, but the events that unfolded between the star, and the jump. Was the single greatest thing, I've ever been apart of, In any video game, ever. I want to thank all you guys for being apart of last night, especially Kaii, and Erimus for organizing, and documenting the event. We're officially legends guys, we need some sort of graphic or compendium made with our names etched in it!!!!

A few shots from me last night http://imgur.com/a/GhS4C

Thanks again, and here's to the next leg of our journey together! I can't wait to see what FD has in store, and what we get up to at Beagle!

PS: Seriously though, if someone is good at making graphical things..... do it big.......

So I finally made it to the Sag A* WP. A bit late due to Real Life stuff. But now, also due to Real Life stuff (read Man Flu, tooth ache and an abcess) I'm not going too far outside the house this weekend. So, I've been 2846LY south of Sag A* on this trip, and now I'm on my way to WP12 above Sag A*. My plan is to go as far north as I can and then get back for the photo shoots / take off events on sunday evening.

Cya sunday Commanders o7

Iv been up from Sag A in my 29.16LY Asp. I managed to get 2763LYs above Sag A, then couldn't find another system to jump to - I want to save all my jumponium, even though Iv more than enough to get to Beagle Point & back.

Now making my way down to the 2000LY area & awaiting confirmation of the WP12 location - come guys!! It's Saturday morning in the UK! Location time!

Regarding Cmdr GSRTrent’s arrival at Beagle Point.
Please understand that the 24 XB1 players who signed up for DW, half never even left the bubble. Half of those who did went to Sag A* & back, leaving about 8 of us.
Due to the now limited numbers, time zones the instancing problems since 1.5. This has now turned into a lone adventure for all of us. The lack of Planetary landings made the schedule pretty impossible for us to keep. The waypoints Cmdr Trent posted were all we had to go on, it does put us in the same Nebula’s etc. if not the exact system. Surely this still counts?
Does it make his achievement any less because he done it in his own time? For all I know he could be the first Cmdr to get to Beagle point on the XB1. The Cmdr may have just made Elite XB1 history.
Congrats Cmdr we are proud of you.

In my eye's arriving at Beagle Point within the timeframe of the whole event counts. Some pilots will always get there a lot quicker & some a lot slower. We cant all stay at the same pace - personally I'd be bored 'you know what' if I moved at the pace of the fleet, cos I have a lot of time to play Horizons. Im doing a lot of exploring in interesting regions to keep me busy & as I explore most things in a system, that slows me down a little too.
If I was CMDR Trent then I would make the official WP locations on the way back to the bubble. Then there would be no argument about following the route - albeit in reverse.

BTW I agree with CMDR Whiterose about the need to use spoilers though

Way points. (unless they have been changed by now).

Its really bizarre this.

I'm at Phipoea nebula and decided to take a look at WP 13 (PHIPOEA AA-A H486) as per your WP itinerary:

Now it appears that it doesnt exist on the Gal Map. There is a reference to it but the system is just not there. I have turned on every filter (Govt, Economy, Star class, everything) and its still not there. Doesn't exist on local navigation tab either, yet the Gal Map will find an empty reference to it:

Logged in and logged out, still no joy.

Thargoids?

Thargoids and their planetary cloaking device ;) Most of the waypoint systems Trent posted have little to do with DW and are a different route a few who are racing ahead are using as a guide. Phipoea waypoint will be available tomorrow, we're not due there for a few days though and is not too far away. :)

Rgr boss. Just trying to keep a healthy distance ahead due to work commitments next few weeks. at least I'm in the approximate locale for the WP. Safe trails:)

Ahh EDIT, the WPs were XB1 coords. Makes perfect sense now. Sorry for any confusion. Goes to prove we share a parallel Galaxy and not an identical one (general relativists will be charging up their photon beams on that argument:))

Congratz on BP GSRTrent:) you deserve a salute o7

I think that's standard with all procedural nebulae (but obviously not planetary nebulae!). Although it looks like a system name, it's actually the name of the nebula. It's similar with the real nebulae, eg searching for Eagle or Barnard's Loop takes you to the nebula, not a system with that name.

I wasn't finding it particularly sociable sticking with the main fleet. I would land at a meeting point and there would be a load of other ships there, but no one said or did anything. I would just sit there looking at everyone else looking at me. Occasionally an SRV would drive by and maybe I would get into mine but everyone just ignored each other, and then people took off and flew on their way. I'm not one for socialising in big crowds anyway, I prefer smaller groups. Given the inherent risks of lag and damaging my ship I stopped attending. And also the risk of getting bored and damaging my ship in a landing while waiting for the rest of the fleet to catch up I ended up going at my own pace. I'm now at Way Point 18 after having already returned to the bubble twice. But I've personally found it more sociable doing that because there's a small group of us on Discord who chat as we fly along. We're all spread out across the galaxy and going our own routes to all kinds of places, but occasionally some of us find that we're in the vicinity of one another and have an impromptu meet-up. We're generally using the same way points as Cmdr GSRTrent posted but deviating from it as we please.

I am told that Lady Kahina Loren (in the guise of Salomé) is scouting out ahead of the main fleet; she is with you in your travels in the void. Much admiration from me for your expedition, CMDRs. I am following with interest.

If anyone grabs an image of her out in the void I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Drew.

Is Lady Kahina flying an Imperial Courier?
I am also scouting ahead of the fleet: if I come across any *SS, I'll screenshot them: you can be sure of that! (I have been searching for UA shells around the waypoint nebulae, so I have been on the lookout for them). One of the reasons I joined DWE is because the route passes close to the Bleia permit zone and I want to see if there's anything interesting on the borders. I am surveying waypoint 16 this weekend and will be making my way to waypoint 17, the Magnus Nebula, that is close to the Bleia region, early next week.
.
I find it interesting that in the recent dev. update it was revealed that, in 2.1, *SS can be located at specific regions of the system and that you can scan *SS for more information whilst in supercruise. Keep your eyes open and your wits about you, CMDRs!

Getting bored now waiting for the WP12 location to be announced.....not gonna give it too much longer then I'll leave it & move on to the Phipoea Nebula
