Just spent the last 2 days catching up you guys from Sol... sorry I'm late peeps. Now spending time heading south to see how far down I can get from Sag A !! Looking forward to some formation flying :)

JJ

I made it 2826LY straight down without jumponium. I'm sure you can do better :)

I am told that Lady Kahina Loren (in the guise of Salomé) is scouting out ahead of the main fleet; she is with you in your travels in the void. Much admiration from me for your expedition, CMDRs. I am following with interest.

If anyone grabs an image of her out in the void I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Drew.

I have heard rumours about her being out there with us, and word that she has taken a great interest in the expedition...

It'll be up tomorrow...

That's a shame, but completely understandable. I made it to 2823LY above Sag A*, so I'll turn around and head back for tomorrows meet ups and launch event :)

At least this has ticked off two more of my goals. I intend to visit each of the cardinal points in the galaxy, so highest above and lowest below: check. Next one, Beagle Point. I'll take in the farthest east and the farthest west on the way back :)

Visiting each cardinal point is something that has inspired me too. I tried to make it to Gagarin's Reach but could only get to 2763LYs in my 29.2LY Asp. I hope to get enough credits from DW Exploration to buy & kit out a 'conda when I return, then go for the cardinal points.

I wish you the best luck in the Galaxy :)

I've slightly gimped my 'Conda, due to the weapons I have on board. Just in case we find something not exactly friendly out there! But with a properly equiped 40LY 'Conda, you'll do much better than me :)

I never explore without some guns, so it'll be interesting to see how I can get a decent jump range out of an armed 'conda.....but that's not for a few month yet!....got some exploring to do first.

Beating the record of 53 people in one instance at Sag A*

We had set a record of 53 people. How about beating this record tomorrow at 16:30 gametime? There's one problem though: we are divided between two groups: Erimus and Kamzel. It is impossible to add more people to Kamzel group, but Erimus group has only about 200 people. So I think it is better that we set a new record in Erimus group, becuase there are still free slots in this group to add people from Kamzel group so that they can be together with people from Erimus group. Then we will really have a chance to break this record.

There are at least 20 active people in Erimus group which I have met during past weeks. So how about a record of 73, eh?

What do you think?

Whatever group we use, we have to make sure that everyone trusted has access to it, and that we decide which ONE group we use to do that. We might as well just create a new group just to make this work.

Great idea - would like to see if the 53 CMDR record can be beaten.

As for the group issue, I won't be adding players from one to the other - no chance. Kamzel has 750 registered and vouched for players. Erimus group is for unregistered and unknown latecomers, a group I opened on the spur of the moment for players who were stuck in open and wanted to meet other players (something a group helps with). I'm not messing on with group mergers and all the checking roster and admin stuff that goes with it. DWs has already felt like an unpaid job since November at times, I aint doing even more work on it than what I already have to deal with daily! :D.

Simplest solution is for you to create your own group and get players to pop in for the record attempt tomorrow.

Good luck :)

You also do not want what happened to the Mobius group to happen to yours!

CMDR Su'Ratt in the Not the Right Tool for the Job reporting in:

I left the bubble yesterday morning in my Imperial Courier to follow in the path of the Distant Worlds Expedition. Not the best of exploration ships, but certainly the most photogenic of the ones available to me that I can afford. This is the first time I've taken this class of ship out on a long distance haul and is alrady my longest and furtherest journey outside the bubble. Typically I go around the bubble as I tended to like being able to go back home and sell data whenever I feel like it.

Apart from a bug in the navigational system that for about half an hour continually tried to plot courses through every possible brown dwarf, the ship has been doing fine. The Omega Nebula is taking up most of the window and I am jump away from Way Point 3. I don't think I can see Barnard's Loop any more so I am making fairly good time compared to my usual journeys. I could be going a lot faster, but whats the point if you aren't going to look out the window now and then?

Thus far the most interesting thing I have found was a system with six terraformable worlds including a pair of water worlds orbiting each other. Whats the bet that the life scanned on both worlds is somehow distantly related?

Probably won't catch up before you guys hit WP12 or possibly WP13, but hey, I'm enjoying the trip. I've also snapped some nice shots as well!

Regarding Cmdr GSRTrent’s arrival at Beagle Point.
Please understand that the 24 XB1 players who signed up for DW, half never even left the bubble. Half of those who did went to Sag A* & back, leaving about 8 of us.
Due to the now limited numbers, time zones the instancing problems since 1.5. This has now turned into a lone adventure for all of us. The lack of Planetary landings made the schedule pretty impossible for us to keep. The waypoints Cmdr Trent posted were all we had to go on, it does put us in the same Nebula’s etc. if not the exact system. Surely this still counts?
Does it make his achievement any less because he done it in his own time? For all I know he could be the first Cmdr to get to Beagle point on the XB1. The Cmdr may have just made Elite XB1 history.
Congrats Cmdr we are proud of you.
Good the hear from the XBoxinians. Sad to hear there's only 8 of you guys left in the trip.

Please urge the 8 to share their experiences in here. I am really curious how the events translates for you guys. Must be tough.

A couple of days ago I remembered I was planning to accompany the DW Fleet to Saggy A* and once I got there I'd decide whether I'd continue. I had the previous trip to Sag A* in mind and that was quite the effort. Being in a large fleet with so many CMDRs around completely changed the feeling and experience and the trip to Sag A* has been a joy, a walk in the park, a doddle.

For me, the achievement of CMDR GSRTrent will be deemed in higher esteem than for instance my own. I'm supported by a fleet of excellent company. Doing this solo shows great determination.

Doing this solo a couple of times to prepare the route for others shows utter lunacy. *waves @ Erimus* Which is a character trait I admire.

....DWs has already felt like an unpaid job since November at times, I aint doing even more work on it than what I already have to deal with daily! :D.

On that note, I'd like to thank you for all your efforts!
Also, recently I was asking myself what will happen with that group when DW is over? I really got used to meet fellow explorers during this journey and I like all those green dots in the galaxy map which make me feel like always being surrounded by friends. If this decision would be mine, I would never leave that group just to see what you're all doing after DW and perhaps meet some of you long after DW is over.

Again Erimus, i salute you. May you and everyone else fly save. o7
