Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

Up till now I've mostly avoided (or been too late) for social gatherings, but I'm at Waypoint 11 and OMG am I having fun! Just a bit ago there were about 20 of us landed on a plateau overlooking the landing zone, and in the middle of this plateau was a very deep, very dark hole that would easily swallow an SRV and not let it go. At one point all of us were parked around the rim of this cavity daring one another like school kids to jump the darn thing, hopping up and down like grasshoppers, furiously blinking our lights...I don't really know how to explain it, but this few minutes of gaming for some stupid reason is one of my all time favorites that I can remember having in a very long time.

I don't why...because we were all giddy as children thousands of miles from home, all sharing a dangerous, beautiful adventure while the pitiless stars stared down upon us? Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that tonight made me feel really good for some bizarre reason.

Thank you, my fellow CMDR's.

Thanks :)

Kamzel group will remain the home of Distant Worlders for as long as they want. I won't ever disband it. There may be a Distant Worlds 3303/4/5 for those crazy enough to want to do this all again one day, so anyone in Kamzel, now and in the future, will always be invited to any future events.

Cool, that's great to read. Consider me a permanent member. :D

I'm incredibly dense and can't find the thread for Erimus Group to apply. I've never participated in the more social aspects of the game. Can anyone point me in the direction of the page where I apply to Erimus group?

The roster thread was closed at 1,000 commanders, and locked some time back. So there are no more sign ups being added to it for the time being. However, latecomers who make it to Beagle Point will be retrospectively added to the official fleet roster for the journey home.

Obviously, you have to join the group in game by klicking "Friends and Groups" --> Find Group and apply there (IF Erimus still accepts requests at all that is --> Edit: Ninjad'). Besides that:

TLDR @ rest of the thread: Can you still apply to be officially part of the exploration (not necessarily one of the groups). Like in a thread or something, where you sign up with your name and your ship?

I just catched up with the fleet and reached SagA* and Armstrong Landing and I would like to officially participate in the expedition.

Fly safe, fellow explorers. And godspeed!

At the moment official registration is over with the sign up thread being closed (this was to give admin chance to concentrate on other things now the trip is well under way). But we've said that latecomers who make the commitment to make it to Beagle Point will at some point be retrospectively added to the roster. There is still the journey home, and although DW officially ends at BP, I'm sure the friendships, groups, and wings that players have established will remain intact and play a big role in a lot of players trip home, so the DW fleet and roster membership will be something players will still want to be added to.

For latecomers there are a lot in open play (many officially registered but who wanted to do it in open, as well as many players who never made it onto the roster).

Bottom line, everyone is welcome to join DWs, and those who didn't make it onto the original roster can still do so if they reach Beagle Point in April.

There are quite a few tagging along in open, if you come across them you can always from your own group, or form it anyway and advertise for members to join.

+1

And, yes, this is always an option to anyone tagging along in open. :)

Thank you for the answer Erimus.

So I'll tag along with you then. :)

Is there a planned date for the arrival at Beagle Point yet?
(I'll be on vacation one week in April, would be a pity if I miss the party!)

No exact date yet as the upcoming WP dates are regularly tweaked depending on the general pace of the main fleet (something I can get a good snapshot of during peak times as 400 of them are on my friends list! :)).

But at the moment BP is penciled in for the first and second week of April. It is likely to be a week-long event with multiple landing times at the designated base camp, as by then we expect the fleet to be more dispersed and all arriving at different times due to how difficult Stages 4 and 5 will be for a lot of players.
